Emeritus, I've heard did a good job, however, with Brookdales takeover I'd suggest that interested party take a closer look a the assistants provided. We recently, without question, moved my dear father-in-law to a assisted living facility where they understand the definition of assisted. If one should look closely one will find what you get at Brookdale, for over $100- a day, is little more than what you get at and average motel, i.e., room cleaning once a week instead of daily, laundry once a week, and three, average at best, meals a day.

Wow - where do I begin...we were minimally promised and they have managed to under deliver from there. Staff - the worst aids I have ever encountered. Untrained - no customer service, no real care for their residents, they seem to run the facility as management other than sales people are never around or off site. management: revolving door - my mom has been there for two months now and their have been their directors, two nursing director changes, aids director changes and the best is that they don't work weekends and all management comes in after 9:30 So most activity for aids is between 6:30 and 10:00am and they have no supervisors there... so third world aids that don't speak English - just do not care at all. - Really not a complaint but a verified documented observation for the last 8 weeks. Poor care - poor food - no activities to speak of... and staff all hate each other...

The facility is beautiful and clean, but staff can be curt and short to clients who are having adjustment difficulties. More importantly, their nursing staff are undertrained and are definately not equipped to recognize or respond to medical emergencies. When my mom became critically ill, staff did not monitor her vital signs and totally underestimated the severity of her illness, resulting in my mother not receiving the care she needed.

My mother was there for two weeks, fell on Christmas Eve and went to the hospital. She never returned yet they charged us for the months of January and first week of February because they said they required 30 days notice. I would not recommend this place for anyone. There are better options.

I wouldn't recommend that place to my worst enemy! The manager sucks the most unprofessional women I ever see in my 30 years in business experience! I left after 10 months and some people are leaving sooner than that ! People that have been there said they have never seen so many rooms empty ! Some good staff members have left also stating they can't work with her ! So good luck !!!

Staff was very nice. The room always looked dirty. It never looked vacuumed, there was always bits of food and trash on the floor. The shower actually had a black footprint on the floor. Behind the closed toilet seat was an accumulation of hair and dirt. In her closet instead of using one of her two laundry baskets they put her soiled clothes that smelled like urine on the top shelf. I could go on and on about how dirty the room always was.

My father was a resident at Celebration Villa East in Topeka, KS and he passed away recently and to date NO ONE from Celebration Villa has called me, despite me being his POA and primary contact person and me leaving multiple voicemails. When my sister arrived one week after his death, she found his apartment unlocked where anyone could have accessed it without our knowledge and had access to all his belongings. It is unfathomable that no one could be bothered to contact us with a simple "sorry for your loss" message at the very least, and has refused to even respond to any of the questions I've left on voicemail about final payment and other items. The business office there is a complete mess and the level of turnover is unfathomable. One of the other residents told us that at least 4 or 5 families have recently moved their loved ones to different facilities because it has gotten so bad.

Actual care & concern was seriously lacking in spite of the promises & great sales pitch. We moved Mom out of there before the 1st 30 days were up. Her new facility is far superior. It was a costly mistake both financially & emotionally. I would recommend people steer clear of Brentwood at Hobart.

The only person that was good and cared was the head nurse [Name Removed]. She was wonderful. The sales team was great till we signed the contract and then they wouldn't even return my emails or calls same with the management team. I did not feel comfort there for my father. The day he went into the hospital no one even knew, the physical therapist was with him and my son was there as well. They saw him in bad shape and called the ambulance. He later passed away in about two weeks.

Facilities were old and air conditioning broke in the middle of summer. No air conditioning for weeks. Elevator from 1st floor to lobby broken for months. So those unable to use the stairs need to be taken out through the basement through a door that was often unlocked which was a safety hazard for residents. The nursing manager was horrible and I got calls from an ER doctor complaining about his attitude and lack of professionalism. We were billed for services after my father had moved out. I often found patients crying in the hallway. They may have had dementia but it was an open ward so.....

Big Problems with them. Would not recommend. I would tell another family to run.

Since new ownership took over, this facility has become a complete mess. Management is incompetent, unresponsive, & seems more concerned with appearances than actually caring for residents. Concerns are routinely ignored, and there is a clear lack of leadership and accountability. The only thing keeping this place from completely falling apart are the nurses and aides. They are compassionate, overworked, and doing their best in spite of poor management. It’s obvious they care—unfortunately, the same cannot be said for those running the facility. The food is frankly unacceptable—low quality, poorly prepared, & not what anyone would expect for people who depend on this facility for their daily care. Even the monthly newsletter reflects the lack of professionalism and reads like it was written by a 1st grader, riddled with spelling & grammatical errors. This place is being mismanaged at the highest level. Until there are major changes in leadership, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

It was NOT a great experience. I paid [amount removed] for my sister to stay there (she decided she was not ready for the change). I asked if I could get a refund - they informed me - since I signed the contract, I could NOT get a penny of my money refunded. So I feel like I was cheated. But, God is good - so I had to move on.

They need to improve overall community feel. Most people just stay in their rooms all day and they make very little effort to get my dad out of room even though that was the one thing I asked for. On numerous occasions I've had residents on his floor waiting in hallways asking for help with simple task like their TV. I don't think anyone is managing these people. Nobody helps or encourages my dad to get dressed often he is in same clothes for days at a time. Just minimal effort overall. Needless to say we don't plan to leave my father there much longer. The onboarding was awful, I had to track down the director to correct the contract. They didn't have my dads meds the first day I could go on and on. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

My parents decided not to move in on the same day that I signed the contract. Upon letting Celebration Villas know, they said there was no refunds, so they were charged [Amount Removed] and never stepped foot in the place. I was very disappointed that some sort of refund was not available for my parents.

Zero stars. This was not the place for my father In law. They could not provide the care he needed at the time. They were not well educated with certain health care needs nor dementia.

Cortland experienced a complete staff turnover within five months, and since then there has been a significant lack of communication. Despite the building being newly remodeled, there are no activities offered, and meals are prepared in a separate building. The call lights are unreliable and do not always work. For the most part, there appears to be only one aide in the building at a time. Some aides seemed unsure how to properly administer her Lantus, which was very concerning. Overall, the care was subpar. My mother fell and broke five ribs and was in the ICU for three days before the hospital notified our family. The facility never contacted us

My sister-in-law and her son visited the facility and were very pleased with what they saw. My brother moved in on Monday [date removed] and he seems happy to be there. I did not tour the facility.

They accessed my checking account without permission. They owe me thousands of dollars. They offered 1/2 price 1st two months and then did not honor that verbal contract. Dad fell and suffered a subdural hematoma during his 8 day approximately $[removed] stay

I would rate it a 1. Here is why. My mom was there for 2 1/2 weeks on several occasions I caught a resident in her room stealing her stuff. On another occasion this same resident was in my mother's bed sleeping, so supervision was lacking. On [date removed] th my mother fell and was transported to the hospital at around midnight. We don't know how long she was in the floor before they found her. She had contusions on her head, arms and legs the seem excessive for a fall. She spent 7 days in the hospital and was diagnosed with a UTI and Sepsis, something Celebration Villa didn't pick up on. From the hospital she went to Astoria for therapy after that. Due to know movement in the hospital she became contracted in bed and could not tolerate the therapy as it caused extreme pain. We took her back home and called in Hospice. On [date removed] my mother passed away. She left Celebration Villa in an ambulance as I said on Christmas Eve. She never returned. Consequently celebration Villa charged our family a full $[removed] for the month of January and another $[removed] for the first week of February clamming we needed to give them 30 days notice that she wouldn't be back. They didn't care there were extenuating circumstances and refused to refund us the money. So in my opinion I would not recommend Celebration Villa to anyone who loves the family member.
