The facility is clean, well-appointed, airy and secure, with several activity areas in the main room, a big community TV and a cage of live birds. Room furnishings are the resident's, and any room TV or telephone must be purchased, contracted and maintained individually, with no technical assistance in the building. (I got both for my 81 yr old wife, but she can't operate TV or answer the phone without help.) Focus on memory care is evident and staff and programs are good. However, assistance in dressing, bathing, eating, grooming is spare. My wife has been sent to join the main area with her slacks or shirt on backwards, inside out or unbuttoned...in her stocking feet. Her clothes are all over. The food is passable, occasionally good, but short on fresh vegetables, fruit. Milk is never offered. Staff is friendly, helpful but too few. I visited on a Saturday abd there were no ...ZERO... staff of any kind visible in any hall or space. Management promises improvements in these areas.

The residents here seemed very independent and were all in their rooms when we came for the tour. It did not look like they were as active and we really wanted a place with more of a welcoming, community-type feeling to it. The room choices were also limited to what we could have. It was just not the right fit for what my mother was looking for.

Being out of state, we appreciate the fact that our loved one is getting good care, someone comes to help him bathe and shave and that is something he is really appreciating. They have a lot of activities going on, they are doing so well with encouraging the residents and our loved one to get involved and he is loving it all. However, they have had a lot of turnover rate so something are lacking, the executive director has been replaced multiple times. They have a lot been without a billing person for months. We do appreciate though how the new director has started family care meetings to keep everyone updated on what is going on.

They really need to clean the place up, it is going downhill fast. The apartment is super nice and a beautiful size, but the hallways smell and there was mold around the windows. My loved one does enjoy the meals that they serve. It is also a very good value for the money for the amenities offered. The maintenance department is super responsive and great, they show up right when my loved one calls. I would recommend them for the price point in the area, but they need to clean it up.

This community is very poor with communication. I have gotten one statement from the community and my loved one has been here for a while now. There was no notification for the raise in cost and there is no explanation on the statement I feel like this is something that I should have been made aware of. Whenever I call to speak with the manager there is always something and seems to never be available.

The nurse and the attendant's are excellent, but when it comes to the management team they could work to improve their overall communication with the families.

I would consider and be careful. I don't care for the lifestyle at the community. I will be moving out. They have activities that ring bells, playing bingo, bocce and more for the residents to participate in if they choose.

We really liked The Venetian Gardens and what they had to offer, but we did not like the buy in cost which is why we decided on another facility.

The main problem is waiting for assistance. They are grossly understaffed. When you need assistance, sometimes it's an hour to wait rather than the seven minutes they tell you it's going to take. My loved ones say the food is very poor quality, and they are not happy with it. But both the staff and the residents are all very friendly And the facility seems very clean. Their room is clean, and the whole facility looks really good.

Our in person tour experience was still during the covid pandemic so we did have some restrictions. We were not able to see any of the model rooms. Even though the value for cost was cheaper, they offered less amenities. Also Elmcroft is more in town so it was very congestive feeling to our loved one.

We chose Elmcroft of Bridgeville at the time because of the price as well as the friendliness of the staff at the time. Once our loved one moved in, their demeanor completely changed. He did say that he does not like the food and it is bland. They clean up really well and the rooms themselves are larger in size than others that we did see elsewhere.

A lot of aspects have been very frustrating. You really need someone who goes in there to see your person on a regular basis and advocate for them. The things I have to call about are ridiculous. I know they're understaffed with the pandemic situation right now. But for as much as I'm paying, I don't fee like I'm getting what I pay for. We've had some issues with timeliness of medication distribution on medications where it's crucial that they're taken at the same time of day. That's been one of my biggest pet peeves. My loved one also didn't have a shower for the first three weeks that she was there because they didn't get her on the schedule properly. And they marked her down as refusing the shower instead of them missing it (so they can get away with waiting until the next scheduled day). Some of the staff have been like that, but one in particular has gone out of her way to make sure my loved one receives the care that she needs. The facility itself is kept pretty clean. They come in multiple times a day to empty the trash, and they do vacuuming and light cleaning about once a week. Overall the people she's met there have been pretty friendly. But I've just had so many frustrations overall.

We have very mixed feelings about Marion Woods, the facility is wonderful, staff are very friendly helpful wonderful folks. For Mom it is like home, she enjoys her many friends and feels like it is her home. However, there is one major failure; transportation! They advertise they furnish transportation for doctor appointments, shopping, and local tours. However, during the one year Mom has been living here they have had a bus driver for maybe three months or less. Mom gave up her car and driving to live here and it has been a significant problem to get her to appointments and shopping over the past year and the situation has not improved. If transportation is part of your decision to live at Marion Woods, this is NOT the place for you as they provide very limited transpiration. Likewise their activities are limited, Mom often feels trapped and that she doesn't get out to see things, shop, appointments or group activities. Sad to be a prisoner in your new home.

Our family was able to do an in person tour and it was okay, they still had some restrictions at the time so we did not get to see everything they had to offer.

Nice conversation with [name removed]. Nice concept of independent living. First impression rugs needed replacing and maybe rooms could use fresh coat of paint. [name removed]said they are working on replacing rugs. Nice but kinda worn. Spoke with resident seemed happy. Social activity although I did not see much.Not crazy about the doors being locked at 7:30 with residents having special key to get in after 7:30 and if help needed had a call system you wore to press for help. Granted this independent living and they would not have any more than a call system at home. For me I just feel better if there is staff available at night. For the money the previous place I discussed would be a much better fit I believe for my dad.

The units are very small. The staff are little slow to work with mentally. They have card games, transportation to shopping, and a few other activities for the residents to choose from. The food is great for my loved one; unfortunately you have to go to the dining room. Unless it is delivered to your room and then it is expensive.

It started okay, but did not end well. They changed owners, so we came in with one expectation, and the new management just was not on the same page. My loved one had declined a little bit but not incredibly so, and they were just not prepared to care for her. At first they raised our rate considerably, and then they said she can't stay here any longer. I don't think they made a lot of effort to make it work. The nursing staff was okay. The problem was with the management. When you're paying that much a month, you expect to receive so much more care. When I picked up my loved one's things, some of her furniture and clothes were missing/incomplete. She had an expensive La-Z-Boy chair that went missing. They did make that one right though - they found the chair in someone else's room and replaced the power cord that was missing. Though they did find the chair, that doesn't make up for the fact that somebody else had been using her chair that whole time. While she lived there, my loved one would complain that the heat was awful in her room. It was always cold in the wintertime, especially in the bathroom and shared space between the two bedrooms. It felt like a 20degree drop in temperature, and my loved one's roommate had complained to Elmcroft about it as well, to no avail. I mentioned it, to Elmcroft and they didn't seem to care. They never did do anything about it. The food was not good. It was pretty much cafeteria food, and reminded me of junior high. It didn't appear that they were trying to offer many activities, and I could see that she wasn't really engaged or looking vibrant unless we were there visiting. I was just so disappointed in how the new management handled things. I will say the regular people who worked there were very nice. They were fair and willing to look into any issues for me. There weren't any bad caregivers there. I think they just had a different viewpoint than the new managers. In total, I have visited about eight other places, and some were worse, but there are definitely ones that are better.

The community has a high turnover in staff, tending to the medical needs of the residence is lacking. Communication is average but they do not return calls quickly. If your loved one is completely independent this facility may work for you if not I would look elsewhere

It's an okay place. My room is good and the nursing staff is wonderful. The food is okay. I hate the administration team. The administration team doesn't run the community well, in my opinion.

The kitchen doesn't know how to accommodate the hours that are posted and residents expect. The staff are very friendly. However, there isn't enough staff.
