I would encourage family members to stay vigilant with ensuring their loved ones are well taken care of once placed in the appropriate facility for them and ask questions on staff retention, quality of life, direction of the facility and its priorities. All those factor in to the experience. They also allowed individuals to visit her repeatedly without contacting me first. One time resulting in a visitor upsetting her that she fell from her wheelchair and broke her hip. No regular person at the front desk as well.

The staff at Brookdale Winter Haven was communicative. The housekeeping was virtually nonexistent. About the only activity was bingo. The meal times were at ridiculous hours and took a long time to get a diabetic menu, then there were extra charges. I do not recommend Brookdale Winter Haven to others.

My loved one is currently a resident at Celebration Villa of Berwick and the overall experience has been good. The staff are all friendly, helpful and well meaning. At least, they have been when I have visited. Based on our experience, I would recommend Celebration Villa of Berwick to others.

Big issues with the process of getting their meds. Dad wound up having to go to the hospital because they were not checking his diabetes. Head nurse was nice to Dad. Immediate staff not management was also nice. There were bedbugs in his apartment, and they never informed anyone. We had to throw out all of Dad's stuff. After I brought it to their attention, the new manager mentioned that they had such problems in the past. Dad did not like the meals at all mostly because of the repetition and flavor. Breakfast was a sore spot for Dad, As every time he asked for something they never had it. I pretty much had to go and fight with them to make them understand that they needed to check his blood levels at least twice a day. After that they were more on the ball. Had a problem also with getting his clothes washed and cleaning of his apartment. It got to the point that there was mold in his toilet. We would put his clothes out to be washed but then he would never get it back. The new manager said they were having quite a problem, with having the right kind of candidates for hire. Dad passed away [date removed] after he arrived at Brookdale. There were a lot of growing pains and I was constantly having to go over there. The assistant manager is horrible, but the rest of the staff was nice to Dad.

Although they claim the staff is trained, many of them do not know how to handle those with anything but a quiet, non-communicatung resident. Beyond that they are not qualified. A nurse or upper management is only there from 7:30-4:30. No one qualified to make any decisions or observations that would help determining if critical or not. Overheard aid conversations that were not appropriate with people outside the building in regard to residents. My comments apply to resident care staff. Upper management was quite accommodating and caring

I would rate the food at a zero if I could. Mostly carbohydrates and the few vegetables served are overcooked, Soggy and sometimes inedible. Run out of food that should be routinely ordered (coffee etc.) I've looked a few other places and after a year made a few friends here. Some residents seem quite content. Personally I would like to play bridge, mahjong & join a book club. None of which are available here. Staff friendly but need more servers at mealtime. I understand a new executive chef begins next week, new owners (priority) Hope for the future.

I picked this community, because it was close and well maintained. I would not recommend to others.

We chose this community because it was affordable and the location is fantastic. It's also pet friendly and quiet. I would tell a friend, to do their research, talk to as many current residents as possible and not to expect anything special from the dining room, except for breakfast.

The apartment sizes at the community and the food are pluses. However, there is no help arranging card games or support for any non scheduled activities. Sales staff misled about card games.

One month into Dad's stay, they changed ownership. Through that process we also lost the administrative staff that we had gotten to know. The price for 2024 is increasing significantly (12-15%), although they have not yet told us a number. Processes are different now than they were, so I can not speak to that. The staff that is there is friendly. Dad seems happy (content) there. He likes the food and the facility and his room are clean. They communicate via text, although with new ownership it is less than prior. Areas for improvement are: it would be nice to know when the physician visits and what she does/checks when she is there. Overall, I would recommend the facility because Dad is happy there. There is work to be done from an administration and communication standpoint, again due to new ownership.

My loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Jensen Beach. After less than 4 months, the price has already changed. We are NOT happy about it and were only given 3 weeks notice. I have been waiting for a call back about it for 2 weeks or more. There is also lack of staff and the service is suffering. The staff that they do have are nice. Communication with the family is mediocre, so far. As they are understaffed, food takes 45 minutes to be served, according to my loved one. Their community fee was also way more than other places and was a shock to me as it wasn't mentioned.

The place was clean but hallways and common rooms were dated, needs new carpeting. Rooms are large, clean and basic but pretty nice, I was impressed with that. The food was pretty good and the people were generally nice. The food servers seemed a little impatient when taking the residents orders, but I'm sure they were busy. We had issues with getting Mom's insulin to her prior to meals. She'd have to wait for it and then her food would be cold. There was an instance where Mom was complaining of shortness of breath which the staff contributed to anxiety. Luckily her home health nurse arrived shortly afterwards, her oxygen saturation was 79%. She had to go emergently to the ER and almost died. It seems like they are understaffed. The director was very nice and accommodating. So I would say overall it wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either.

I was hoping more care would be given to brain health and nutrition. Communication between family and staff is poor unless you really make an exceptional effort. We would maybe recommend this community to other families based in the experience we have had. Mom is given better care (by far) than what I could give as an untrained working woman. The other residents are very pleasant.

Needs more staffing is my chief concern. On a high percentage of our visits we have discovered significantly impaired residents being left in a group area without supervision. On more than one occasion we had to intervene to ensure the safety of unrelated residents. We are likely moving our loved one, but only because we believe we may be able to find an improvement, not because we are significantly disappointed. There are Lots of very kind individuals make up the majority of staff. There just are not enough of them!

My mom lived her for a bit over 3 years. At firsts it was great, but then COVID struck and residents were in lock down. The isolation was tough on my mom and it appears that management didn’t focus on maintenance or the facilities during that period. It’s a nice place but when we started looking at new facilities we realized how rundown/dated Brookdale really was. The staff there was wonderful.

We moved in during covid so staff shortages were at their highest and is still an issue today but not as bad. Also, after only two years, we are on manager number four and the company just sold. Do not know impacts of sale just yet.

Some staff very friendly and helpful. Some just plain rude. Also biggest problem as stated above when you have question or ask for something they always say of course I get that right away. And they never come back. Not sure about this. My family member does not participate in any activities. It's seem to be going rate.

We had a terrible experience with the administration. They were bathing my fathers in cold water. There was no hot water in his room for many days. We had a hard time with communication and many verbal promises at signing turned out to be just puffing. When dad's health went to the worst and had to be hospitalized the facility would not accept him back for hospice care. I have a lot more to say on this more than texting will allow. Maybe things have changed since Oct 2021. It all looked good when we signed up. But as I said. Once we were in promises were not for-filled.

You should ask people what their income is and if they have a Medicaid waiver before you give them places to see.Not worth looking in to. They raised their rates by 14 to 18 %. We picked this community because, at the time I had no choice.

My loved one is currently a resident at Celebration Villa of Chippewa. Overall, the experience at this facility has been okay. The friendliness is good. The meals and activities are okay. However, the administration staff seems bothered when asked to comply with insurance matters.
