The Retreat at Lady's Island appeared to offer much and a resident can age in place there even through hospice, but it's very expensive. The individual who gave tour at the Retreat was a bit too slick for my taste, and I had to push to get answers.

Legacy Heights is understaffed for the amount of residents that they have and could not properly care for my loved one. She is doing way better where she is now. The sales team was great, however.

Employees are friendly, but food and care is disappointing at times. Food just needs to be better, no super long waits, and listen to residents requests. At times, caregivers did not listen to my mother's wishes.

The staff were very nice to work with. The community was dated and older.

They are very friendly. The dining room is closed.They are doing the best that they can, with what they have. They are undergoing some challenges. They are good with the communication. We picked this community, becasue of the friendliness of the staff.

Our experience here has not been a good one. The staff are fantastic, friendly people but the job just doesn't get done. Workwise, I'd hire maybe 2 or 3 of them. I don't know if the resident to staff ratio is off or what the root of the problem is, but things aren't getting done. I hate to speak negatively, because they really are nice people. I've spoken to the director about it several times. I've witnessed staff members sitting in the office and visiting instead of doing things that need to be done. They only have 2 attendants to help the Dementia residents from what I've seen. My loved one needs assistance with eating (which was in her care plan), but she wasn't getting it. I had to hire outside help at an additional cost to come help her. It got to the point where my loved one had lost 12 pounds in 4 weeks.....she wasn't eating (wasn't getting help, her meals were just put in front of her), wasn't drinking water, and wasn't mobile/walking on her own like she was before. Since we've hired outside help to come in and assist, my loved one has significantly improved. But we shouldn't have to do that. Also, any activity that they do is inside. The residents don't go outside. The facility itself is beautiful up front (entry and Assisted Living). But when you get to the Memory Care Unit, it's like a mental ward. They opened this place as a business, not a caring facility. The Executive Director is incredibly kind and empathetic, but it stops there at the door. There is no follow through with the staff. The floors and kitchen don't ever seem to be clean. I guess it's gotten better, the floors have been a little more clean recently and the facility doesn't always smell like urine the way it used to. Either way, I wouldn't recommend this place to friends and family. We're looking at moving our loved one.

The communication was terrible. We were not happy with the care or communication. They have updated the decor. The food was mediocore.

The Retreat is doing the best they can with what is available in this area. They need trained dietitian, credentialed geriatric social worker, drivers, and activities. Mom (independent living) is spending top dollar for mediocre to sub-par amenities. We worry for the day she will actual assistance or care. Pay attention to your contract and make sure what you are sold is put down into writing.

They need improve on communication with the family and responsiveness. We picked this community, because of the location, and it was closer to my dad.

The Retreat at Conyers is a beautiful facility. Great investments has been made in the main area of the building. The assisted living and the memory care facility was not upgraded with that investment. That investment does not provide value or benefit for those in assisted or memory care because they are in separate buildings. So anyone who is disabled or has memory issues, they cannot access that. There had been a dramatic increase in the cost to live there. We had an 8% increase. There were huge problems with the activities director, they lost their directors so there was no activities for months - residents had nothing to do. When they were happening there was no budget to do anything and they were not doing outings. My mother was very bored and I believe she declined because there was no mental stimulation. The food they served was extremely unhealthy. They made the menu to keep residents happy, not healthy. The chef quit as well. There were budget management issues and a lot of turnover in the staff. I tried for years to work with administration to improve these outages based on the potential of the facility.

[name removed] was a great nurse and kept us well informed. She went above and beyond to ensure that our mother was well taken care of. And we were always informed. We would have liked to see them keep the facility a little bit cleaner. But really it's the people in the place that make all the difference. The people there tried very hard to make our loved one feel welcome and transition well to the environment.

This facility is essentially brand new, considering their recent re-opening. I don't really feel like they've come out with a bang. Definitely a work in progress. They had a stellar reputation previously. But that's gone and I think they're going to have to work hard to retrieve it. The Physical Therapist is good. The Nursing Techs have been ok so far. Communication with the family has been okay. The activities are very limited, but they do have a new Activities Director and we are hoping that helps change things. Overall, we're hoping for improvement as they get settled and work things out here at this facility. I wouldn't necessarily recommend them to family and friends at this point.

The facility has a nice common area and dining hall. We've just had a problem with the service. I would recommending keeping on top of the staff and visiting often. because we're just not getting all of the services we were promised.

It felt like an old nursing home. It did not feel as progressive. It was not a cheery feeling.

It has been a pretty good experience for the family and our loved one at The Neighborhood. The staff communication with the family is pretty good, if we have questions or concerns about our loved one. The community is able to provide medication management, dressing, and bathing assistance for my loved one. I believe the cleaning of the community common areas and my loved one one's room and bathroom could be better.

The only 2 complaints I have are the food and the maintenance.

They could work on better organization, communication and staffing They have had 2 different nursing directors in 3 mos and no communication whose covering, who to contact etc Be nice to know the person you are emailing for important medical info for Dr is not there anymore and who to contact

The facility overall was really nice. I didn’t get to see their outdoor area if there was one. The interior was definitely clean, with nice décor. I saw they had some games/activities going on when we were there. I really liked the chef, and we got to speak with them in detail about the menu. I thought the shower in the unit they showed me was a tripping hazard. It had a rim, which showers should have. But there was an intentional break in the rim - I imagine so you could walk in/out without having to step up and over. But the combination of rim/no rim was the problematic part. The shower was also outdated and looked really bad.

I liked this place, but going through a renovation and the two bedrooms (which were amazing) were just too big for my loved ones needs.

Over the past 6 months, the cleanliness and care has declined. Carpets are filthy Food is not good and frequently are out of staples such as butter, potatoes, jelly, etc Executive director is not responsive and seems uninterested in the residents, comes in after 10 am and leaves early. The caregivers are WONDERFUL and attentive. Cost is outrageous [name removed] the activity director is excellent
