Communication is horrible but they just hire a new director so I'm optimistic. Understand what care your loved one needs and see if the community can handle the care. If the community can meet your needs I would recommend it.

The rooms were adequate in size, however our biggest problem was that they did not clean the community that frequent so at times there would be fowl smells in the hallways. Also the residents are given a button to press if they need help, but it would take the staff a long time to respond to when our loved one would push the button.

I would tell others looking at The Trace that I do think there is an issue with the quality and variety of the food menu, I have to bring her food from home a lot. The activities here seem to be limited, the only thing they really have to do is bingo so the residents get bored. I would say it is not a place for a very active senior. Overall, I would recommend this community. I think it is a reasonable value for what you pay and I know that she is safe and secure here.

My complaint is the yards are not kept up.

I have lived in this community for 5 years. One year ago Phoenix bought this property from Senior Lifestyle. Neither has done what was promised and just make it okay. I live in the independent area of the community. For what I get it is a little expensive and I don't get all the services we were promised. All facilities should be honest with the people moving there. There is personal care and memory care with the facility. I will not be going to them when I no longer am in the independent living part. I’ve seen the care they get.

We would like to know more about what is going on.

A + since no covid-19 at Retreat. Management unorganized. Hard-working maintenance but not enough to be able to keep the jobs alone. Retreat cleanliness C+. Food very good but no dietitians. Have too many starches. Not enough activities for residents to enjoy. Friendly residents. Have Bible study and Sunday worship.

I am 93 years old. I have lived here for 14.5 years. The people who live here are like family. We have a great Activities Director. We normally meet for exercises 5 days a week, play bingo. Soon, when the remodeling is finished, we'll have lunch and other things.

Because of the virus, things are certainly different from when I moved here a year ago! If you have a doctor's appt, etc. you must stay in your apartment for 7 days. We have not had anyone ick as far as I know. They try hard to keep us safe! I think some foods have been hard to get but we have plenty to eat. Also a lot of construction on the lawn, drainage, and public area inside the building going on.

The facility was kept pretty clean, however we wished our loved ones room could of used the same attention the community received when it came to cleaning. The staff generally cared about the residents, however there were time we had to make request to get his room cleaned or get him changed. We don't think there was enough follow up attention, we think they could of done a better job staying on top of the residents who needed more assistance. Although when we first visited we really liked the overall physical appearance of this community, it looked like a nice place to live. The individuals we dealt with at that time were very helpful and passionate about the residents. The food was okay, it wasn't terrible. For holidays like Memorial Day they would have cook out. The rooms are this community overall are good size.

The nurses seem to spend a lot of time on their phones. Sometimes you get a really good person. But a lot of times they just seem like they don't want to be bothered. Sometimes it's hard to find staff members. I went to visit my dad and didn't see a staff member for about 30 minutes.

Apartment is lovely and management staff is friendly and approachable. However management is very inconsistent and unsatisfactory regarding transportation to and from scheduled medical appointments. Hours of transportation varies weekly and appointments usually need to be made well in advance. Unfamiliarity of policies and guesses to answer questions. Alternative meals as stated on weekly menus, are often not available. Menus the greater variety. Residents name tags would be very helpful.

Don’t know where to begin. Nurses stations unmaned constantly at all shifts, call bell answers are seriously delayed, and questions go unanswered. Even though you will not get an answer they are happy to shake you down for every min of your free time. I have more respect for mobsters and how they handle money, budgets, and business. They want their payment yet can’t send me an invoice. I have yet to see anyone from a management team have any healthcare skills. All of them have business degrees and can’t answer a health question if they tried. I have tried to get a progress report on my loved one. They looked at me like they had NO idea what I was talking about. Too bad- this place is beautiful and has so much potential.

This place does not listen to its residents. The on site managers may be here a year and be fired. The current on site manager spends too much time in his office and does not listen. The site is spending thousands to repair a yard sprinkler system that won’t be used after the first water bills come in. They should just fix the sprinklers where they have just laid sod. The money saved should be used to build a security fence, clean gutters twice per year, replace the wood around the windows, repair/replace fascia and soffits, buy a new station wagon, fix the lift on the bus.

New and beautiful but very expensive. The apartment are very small. Staff friendly. We haven't seen much people leaving there. Offer therapy but no gym. Very nice activities. Nice dinning room, offer kitchen for family events.

This community was an older one and we felt that it was a nice set up as the assisted living was monitored very well and then they offered some very nice Cottages for those looking for Independent living. You do have the option to come to the dining room for your meals if you were in the cottages. I did not feel that my father-in-law would be a good fit in the Cottages and he felt he did not fit in the assisted living as they did not seem to be as active as he is. The rooms were nice and the staff did a nice job showing us around.
