Positives - wonderful atmosphere, kindness of employees, amenities, let you bring your own furniture and comforts of home. Negatives: 1. Sometime bathing was not frequent enough 2. Not checking on clients regularly 3. Lack of urgency on some medical needs

Looks like you take your residents for granted. Start with something good and then back off. The food is cold.

I am a 100% service disabled veteran, and I find that, even though I have become close friends with some of the staff and residents, there has been a serious caregiver problem. A few of the caregivers here, are definitely not right for this business, in which dealing with residents having severe mental issues, like my dear wife, is why I sought another facility.

Help on the floor is good. Admin lost $$$ of my prescriptions. They are not helpful in keeping people out of my wife's room. They mis-diagnosed how much help my wife needed. I felt they fleeced us on assisted living expenses. Not a place I would recommend

The overall experience was a bit frustrating. It was frustrating because I couldn't call the place myself. I had to go through you guys. The place we settled on, though is quite nice. The rooms are clean. The people are very friendly. The only complaint is they keep it very cold in the common areas and they said that's mainly for the staff. But the staff aren't the ones that are paying. So my brother won't go to any of the activities like bingo or crafts or anything like that because of the cold temperatures. And his comment is he should not have to wear a coat to dinner.

Staff is mostly travelers so they don't know what they are doing. Medication passes are inconsistent and often wrong. Food is horrible. Often inedible and very little variety. Billing is inconsistent and often wrong. Transport to doctors appointments are very limited to certain days and times making scheduling a nightmare. Cleaning of residents rooms in scares and not done with any consistency of what is cleaned or when it's done. Laundry is often lost despite being labeled. Staff sends their kids into residents rooms to sell them candy and other fundraising items. Activities are frequently cancelled last minute and rarely have anything on the weekends.

Some of the services that we were told that we could expect are not being received, such as religious services, regular outings, etc. there are also lingering billing discrepancies.

The facility was neat and clean. The staff seemed nice. The heat was being worked on so it was cold. We saw a few residents. Just not a place for my mom at this time. The location was close. The information session was good.

In my opinion, it is far above other facilities in this area for independent living. I came from one like I said is larger than this so that makes a difference. They had much more planned activity for independent living than they do fear. I think they're trying, but they haven't made that but nobody else has either an independent living doesn't mean like you have your own house your own yard so they can be some planned activities and more of them for independent living

The biggest problem was definitely the food quality. If they got that issue fixed, it is a place that I would recommend.

The compound is kept up pretty well. The activities are very lacking. They have taken 1 trip outside of shopping just one time. The issue is with the sales team and contracts. Every place we visited including The Retreat at Conyers said that two meals were included per day. This was a big selling point. Just after 3 months they send a letter stating we would have to pay for our meals. The meals were excluded from the contract. I have spoken to a lawyer and will probably pursuing a case for misleading sales practices.

My cottage is great, the food service leaves a lot to be desired. One day you are eating as a community the next they say they will no longer be serving meals at community center. They had a great soup and salad bar, they say it's too expensive to maintain. Salads that came with later meals the lettuce was wilted.

I would give it a 3, they have some staff that are wonderful, some that are lazy with attitudes. My dad likes the food, and I eat there a lot, agree, nice choices, etc. Housekeeping is horrible, I visit 2-3 times a week, spend most of my time cleaning his room. There are very few activities, my dad gets bored a lot. It's probably a great place for someone who is 100% independent with no vision or hearing impairments. If I had to choose again with hindsight, I would not have chosen the Phoenix.

One negative point. No one told me if the entrance fee. The staff is good. My loved one is happy there - but none of them told us of the entrance fees.

My clients were put in respite care there for 10 days. One of the beds broke with when I tried to move it. It was not replaced only modified, neither TV worked in the room at first then my client accidentally knocked it over with his wheelchair, also never replaced and no TV was able to watch for the duration of their stay and his was billed for the tv in which he ACCIDENTALLY knocked over. The room should have been proofed before we came. Cords on the floor and the fact that the tv was too large and in the way of his wheelchair should have been reason enough for them not to be billed for the broken tv on top of being charged an astronomical amount for the stay. I gave specific directions on the needs of my clients and they were not met entirely. We were told there was a happy hour every day but my client was never offered a cocktail. I brought provisions for both of them. I understand things happen but all in all I feel for the money it was not worth it.

My mother had zero hot water in her room. They bathed her in cold water. Communication between staff concerning new occupants was poor. They expected a 92 year old who had never been in an elevator to navigate elevator use for meals on the first day. My mother was sent to the hospital on the third day of occupancy and never returned. They refused to refund any money even though she was only there 3 days. They charged a hefty occupancy rate plus a large "Community Fee" which was also not refunded even though she only slept there two nights, only ate three meals and barely moved in before they claimed she wasn't a good fit for their place!! Also refused to return and entire two months of medication we brought with us when she moved in.

[name removed] made it amazing. It was very nice and had a more independent atmosphere. Better security and really explain to people who have never had to deal with assisted living facilities, what the levels mean and the risks that come with that. Being allowed to leave whenever.

My mother-in-law was a resident of The Retreat starting in the assisted living area. As a family I don’t think we understood assisted living or the care that she needed extended beyond the care offered on assisted living. She was transferred to memory care unit and I can’t say enough nice things about the unit. The staff was very caring knew what was going on with her and make suggestions for us. Staff from upstairs came to check in on her and visit her. I thank the management of The Retreat and the staff for giving great care.

The staff on the memory care side are so attentive and treats the residents with respect. They need more activities but the employees leading the ones they have are very nice.

We picked the Phoenix because they have controlled access to the front door. It allows them to handle dementia residents in their assisted living area. The problem is that they are not staffed to handle the care needs of a dementia resident in the assisted living area. And the memory care units are not suitable for a resident unless their dementia is so severe that they no longer need activities or food choices. It has the potential of being a good facility if they clean up these issues and staff appropriately. Really nice caregivers but they do leave out of frustration. As usual, this place is VP top-heavy.
