This was a very nice facility, and their memory care unit was great, but I am not sure this is what my parents are looking for right now. Also, they did not have full kitchens, which is very important to my mom, as she is on a special diet (and extremely picky about what she eats)

Nice facility but staff didn't seem engaged with the residents.

It was multi-storied which I didn't like and to me it lacked warmth. It was separate apartments but I didn't feel there was enough connection between them.

It's independent living. The housekeeping is fine. My mom's had some issues with the meals and the meal plan. That's one of the bigger things with the additional charges that come up at the end of the month. It's difficult to budget. You're supposed to pay a set fee but then there are these additional charges. I think there needs to be more communication on these additional expenses so we can determine a budget. My mom is comfortable but she has the same concerns that I do. There were some broken AC units and they were very proactive and expedient on getting those changed out. It's a beautiful facility - no question there.

An elderly female in our family went there for a while so we could figure out a place that would be more affordable as the Landing is a private facility and very expensive. Upon arrival there by process all of her medications were turned over, which would've fine if every time she needed one not taken daily they would call asking for it. We'd have to go through it all over again that they wanted them, they had them already, so they'd look and call back saying oh we found it. Mybe that wouldn't happen if they didn't have some of the lowest paid employees dispensing medications, using aid's instead of nurses for such an important duty. Her room wasn't being cleaned like they said it would. It wasn't all bad though, they made sure she got her healthy meals and snacks so she now only needs insulin injection once a day, the rest of the time she uses an oral medication. Also if we wanted we could have brought her cat in to stay with her.

We started off thinking that this is the best we had encountered. It was homey and smaller. We really liked that. We've gotten a lot of mixed information. They're not good at communication. It took the a good three to four weeks to get my mother's medication correct. That was a nightmare. I think they've gotten that together now. There have been some rude comments by some of the caregivers here and there and no communication as to why these comments are being made. It doesn't seem to be strong leadership there.

We liked them okay but they ordered medication for my mom and then charged us for it. We asked them to stop doing that and they kept doing it, even after we moved her. That was not good. I don't know if they were getting a kick back from it or making money off it somehow. It's pretty heinous. My mom used to complain about the food being cold and they were not very helpful with getting the insurance set up.

It is a very independent living situation. My mother's particular situation is that she's lived on her own for a long time so she's having trouble getting used to the environment there. She hasn't engaged in any of the activities and I don't know if that's her or if it's that there is no encouragement from the staff. They've not pursuaded her to allow them to assist her in any way - she's telling them to get out and they're kind of glaring at her for that. Their meal situation is very confusing. The written material and what they actually want people to do is contradictory. In fairness to them, they are in the process of changing their dining area. My big thing is that it's very independent. I think it might be better for someone a little younger than my mother.

Liked the facility. Location okay. Clean. No openings. Initial fee = one months rent. Not secure for memory care.

Have to walk outdoors to move around facility.

Very suitable. However rent is much higher than expected & the non-refundable buy-in?

Nice central location - closest to both residence and work. Emergency call device on lanyard as well as in rooms! Decor is very sedate. LR furniture had been selected by residents, so casual-homey rather than professional decor. the Director is new so feel I need to verify what he's told me.

I went to visit Horizon Bay at NRH and spoke with the Director. The overall look is pleasant and it is tucked away so there is not a lot of general traffic, considering you are right off Blvd 26. I was able to view a cottage. They are comfortable enough and have a good deal of storage in the closets. The screened in porch looks out on to a road. It would have been nice to view a fountain or something other than traffic, but that is what it is.. I did not like the apartment style independent living in the ?big house?. There is no kitchen at all and no room for even a small table. They were very tiny and had no place to just sit unless you walked out to the main hallways. Everything looks clean and well kept and the staff seemed friendly. Most of the folks were sitting in the porch at the front door as you walked in. It gave me the impression of a nursing home rather than active senior living.

They liked it but were not as impressed with the care after change of ownership. ** There have probably been several ownership/management changes since the one I was so displeased with. We had several years of pleasant memories there.

Price seems more doable at 1800 per month. Only 2 meals per day. The website only mentions independent living.

Oustanding place. Lightinng is great. Place very clear and new. It seems it would work out for his needs, but facility has unfair contract clauses such as unfair practice for avoiding court suit, arbitration and limited liability and waive of jury is determined the arbitration to be ilegal. Also, transportation is very restricted to specific days, hours and miles. Directors wants medical appointments to be coordinated one month ahead. There are high costs associated to medical managements if not using Pharmamerica, the preferred pharmacy used by the facility. These costs are in addition to fees paid on the medical management fees. The place is condition for being there all the time. Individual transportation are not provided at any time except in group. The director is hard to deal with. Transportation offerred with promotion package is a trap to attract clients. Contract does not provide clear clause for terminating the contract, just the resident may terminated the contract. I can anticipated somebody trying to terminated the contract will have hard times.

It was very nice, but I didn't get the urge to move my parents here.
