Nice but near downtown, museum district.

Inside beltway. AL but no mention of Memory Care. May need a car or special limo service.

Pros: staff, well trained, diet considerations.Level 2 facility Cons: studio rooms only,very little storage, Upstairs- one hall - may be too long if placed at the end of the hall. Gathering area was at the front door downstairs.

1 bedroom was too small, older building, low ceilings.

Cottages, cafe style, happy residents.

I feel that I was lied to. I just found out another family was kicked out for dining with our loved one. The community led me to believe that the family could dine together in the dining room. My loved one has a smaller apartment and this has caused us to be upset about the situation. The food deliver fee was quoted to be $3 but it my loved one has been charged over this for delivery. I'm not incredible pleased with the community. The rent is continuing to increase in cost. Due to the costs and feelings of being lied to, we are looking to move my loved one out of the community. There is weekly housekeeping and my loved one is pleased with this. The community isn't able to accommodate as many dietary restrictions as they could be.

They did not do anything to clean the place. They were supposed to change her sheets once a week, clean her room and laundry. Those things were not done. The food was inedible. The vegetables during the holidays was brown and not green. The noodles and rice were too hard to eat. She lost weight while there. Her medicine was messed up. The aides were very good with her. The place was short staffed during her entire stay. I took my loved one out due to all of these reasons. It was a pretty bad experience.

The price is expensive for the care that is received. Make sure you understand the pricing structure because the services are extra. Also, the communication is not great, we have had several issues where we were not informed when we should have been. if you are completely independent I would recommend it.

Old and stuffy!

A relative resides at Brookdale.... The food quality & serving size has hit "rock bottom". Brookdale apparently made a lot of changes in recent months...Not for the better! The meals should be healthy & tasty. (They were in the beginning, before the food service company changed.) There is usually a credit balance left on his "meal ticket", as most of the time the food is not desirable to him. The serving sizes are very small, others have expressed this also. The main reason for him becoming a resident was to have good meals...that is not happening!! (He is extremely easy to please when it comes to food.) They need(ed) a backup plan when any of the shuttles are out of service (whatever the reason). Having one available is a plus. I, personally I am VERY DISSAPOINTED and wish he had taken more time before selecting Brookdale. The staff & residents are extremely friendly & I am grateful for that!

Care Plans are expensive for the lack of staff, and high volume of responsibility they hold.

I toured this facility but wasn’t impressed. When I walked in, I automatically knew that it wasn’t the right place for my parents. The memory care unit was separated from the rest of the building and the room itself was very small with an air conditioning unit. The atmosphere itself wasn’t very inviting and the staff seemed like they were in a hurry; they weren’t very outgoing. I ultimately decided against moving my parents in.

I will no longer be referring this community to future clients of mine. They requested a deposit from my last client and put him on a waiting list. They’ve consistently promised him a spot within the residence but then will not communicate with him any updates. His illness is getting worse so he has since relocated closer to his family and is still waiting to receive his deposit. As a caregiver, you want to give to provide absolutely outstanding service, and they have not done this.

I toured this community for my mother, and her needs. My tour went pretty well overall. I think the layout design of the community needs some work. When you first enter the facility there are a group of close residents that gather in the entrance very often. I felt that would be an intimidating situation for mother, and would had made the transition tough. Everyone was kind, and helpful. However I did not feel this was the right fit for my mother, and her needs.

When we walked into the Brookdale, it felt more like a nursing home. MY loved one needed more independent living so this place would not have worked out for him. Also, the rooms were extremely small and had no access to the outside.

The Brookdale Ridge was in terrible need of renovation. The community was depressing, on my tour, the residents were just watching tv. I toured during dinner time and the meals looked good. The staff was very friendly and answered all of my questions.

My 92 year old father is dependent upon the facility to properly administer and keep track of his medications. Twice, in two years, the nursing staff has failed to implement medication changes even with doctor's orders faxed to the facility and being advised of the changes verbally and in person by family members. The most recent problem resulted in him being given a 40% overdose of the maximum recommended dosage for over a month before I personally checked his medications.

My mother just moved in, and I am not sure how I fell about this place yet Went to breakfast with my Mom and it took almost 20 min. before we even got coffee. They need more help when serving, when she has to be there by 7:30. That might be a little early for her, when you don't get coffee till eight. She seems to be adjusting well, so we will see how it goes. Giving it 3 months to see how she likes it. Then we will make up our mind how we all like it.

Our experience with this community was okay not perfect. I do not feel they are trained to provide diabetic care. My grandmother things came up missing and when we with the pick her up they were not returned. Some of her records were missing and clothing items. There were nice people here, but they were not very attentive to the residents. After dinner they would just place the residents in front of the T.V. and they would fall asleep. If you want a professional active environment for your loved one this is not the place.

Not as clean as to be expected, should have more activites, need better housekeeping.
