The events they have are good. My mom has gotten to where she enjoys going to happy hour and certain games and some of the workout classes. They could improve on the food. It was really good when she first got there but it went downhill fast when they got rid of the chef. Now it's just 'ok' some of the time. The pool was also closed for a very long time and that was a bummer for my mom.

The service at Solana started out great. But in the end, they were no different than any other care facility We stayed at. I ended up having to pay for a private care giver to be with [name removed] 24 hours a day. I knew that was the case going in however, I expected the Solana staff to participate in her care. Towards the end, [name removed]became immobile. A Hoyer lift had to be used to move her. The private caregiver requested help from the Solana caregivers to help with the transfer and if they showed up, it took forever for them to get there. The private Caregiver had to transfer[name removed]by herself. It seemed that Solana was short-staffed. On a positive note the dining and food service was excellent and [name removed] really enjoyed the field trips able to attend. Maybe I went into Solana with expectations that were too high. I've learned a lot from that experience.

Individual decisions only matter.

I was there to visit every other day as my aunt was bedridden and observed the many daily activities the residents participated in who were mobile. There were a couple of negatives , the biggest was transparency, was told the cook would talk to the resident on likes and dislikes of food ( did not happen) food was always brought cold to her room, coffee was always cold, so I always had to refill with fresh and hot, many times asked for something different ( and they supplied), and lastly, when her husband died we had to pay his portion until another room was available ( there was a room empty that I was aware of and had to tell them I knew it was empty). That took 1 1/2 months.

If they would take her to the church services she requests we would be pleased with activities. The value for cost is okay. We would recommend this community to other families but it depends on what someone is looking for I would.

Severely understaffed. Food was boring and usually tasteless. Certain caregivers were truly excellent.

I would say the staff is friendly overall. They seem to be short staffed. The servers do a good job. House keeping not great. A lot of clothing missing. They don't change bedding much. My mother had the runs and then it cleared. The following week I was straightening her blankets and I noticed diarrhea on her sheet from the week before. I had to pull the sheets off the bed. Brought it to the laundry. Demanded it get cleaned. Another time I had to clean up her floor and also gather garbage. The front desk has a stack of mail for my mom they gave it to me and there were Christmas cards and bills from [date removed]. I visit her 3-4 times a week and none of the front desk gave me her mail. The only reason I got notified was from a pharmacy that was cancelling her meds. They never gave me her bills. The food is often cold or hard. I visit mostly at dinner time. She hates when her veggies are cold. Often when she asks for drinks they tell her not until meal time. Drinks should be available. Activities...on the memory care side there aren't many activities. I think once in a while my mother said they have a lady who plays music and my mom uses a tambourine. On the assisted living side, there are more activities available.

It's helpful to hire an aide to pop in once a week to make sure everything is going to plan. Currently, there is no nurse on staff, nor is there an overnight medically trained person.

Staff is good but facility needed some care. It is slowly getting there. Some improvements have been made & are continuing.

The rent fee changes regularly. 2 months in, Brookdale increased my loved ones rent to over [amount removed]. I would not recommend it to others unless their loved one has an unlimited source of income.

My mom needed more care than they are set up to give, but didn't want to seem to admit it. I asked for a meeting with the administrator and she brought 2 other employees in. I didn't feel like she wanted to handle the situation. My mom was only there loke 2 weeks, she fell 3 times and the last time, after our meeting, broke her hip. It is good for very independent people.

My mom has a 1 bedroom apartment. It's a nice space on the second floor. The staff seem very nice. Her biggest complaint is with the food and the dining room. She rarely likes what is served, says that everyone often waits for long periods of time for their beverages, the food is not as listed on the menu and that there is continual turnover of kitchen staff.

The staff and facilities were great. Everyone was super supportive and friendly. I would recommend to others.

The onboarding was poorly managed leaving our father in law to be confused and misinformed. He was not bathed for almost two weeks. Food was just passable. The salesperson was great, the operations person left much to be desired.

The Staff is friendly and courteous. Only problem is overturn of administrators and staff.

The building is kept clean and is very nice. They have an amazing Activites Director, [name removed], who works really hard to see their needs met and have fun. The meals are kind of hit of and miss. Mom likes the majority. The dining room is very nice. They have a nice courtyard that we enjoy year round. The staff are friendly and helpful. Especially those who work with the residents. The rooms are nice and are taken care of.

if we're talking about overall cost (memory care is coat prohibitive for seniors- I fins it ridiculous that corporations are making big bucks on aging adults) 4 if compared to other facilities I live outside of the area & my dad is in memory care so I can't depend on his statements for judging care/food/etc.

The staff is friendly yet they have been through 6 Executive Directors in a year and about the same Finance Directors. Ask questions about the infrastructure and how they charge for care. The facility was nice and clean

1) Bedbug problem for over a year. Her apartment was treated but not enough of the community to prevent bedbugs returning. I was forced to pay for treatment and still bedbugs returned. 2) I'm aware Brookdale is independent living facility and limited in the amount of assistance they can provide. My mother had mild cognitive impairment and would occasionally get disoriented in the community. Staff would assist her, then I would receive a scolding phone call, but never direct communication that she needed to leave Brookdale. In [date removed], per her doctor, the dementia had progressed to requiring full-time care. I immediately sought a memory care facility, but before I could get her moved, Brookdale management called ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES to report concerns about her safety. No prior notice to me or any demand that she move-out (which they had a right to do if they thought her safety at risk). Humiliating and cruel given the sincere efforts I was making to get her help.

It’s really hard for me to give an adequate evaluation since my father-in-law was only there for three days. What I can’t tell you in those three days his Foley was not changed right the first night. On the second night he was on the floor he fell. And then was hospitalized and did not return. He passed away on [date removed]. The nursing staff was very nice, and call us immediately.. This was our experience for three days.
