The apartment air conditioner thermostat didn't work properly - and never got fixed during my mom's month stay. The activity director was suppose to help my mom get involved in the games she was told were happening but the director never followed through. The food quality was poor and the meal service took a very long time - most nights my mom would leave without dessert because they either ran out or took too long to bring to her. My mom and I were very disappointed - the services she was promised were not provided.

Do not move into this place. My room has never been cleaned thoroughly, behind the toilet, etc. The staff is the worst! This is expensive with terrible service, terrible food and is really a very sad joke. Overworked, underpaid, as little as possible and basically just not enough of the right people on hand. The staff hide in their offices and are not part of the resident culture. Maybe the staff needs to eat in the dining room and they can find out what it's like. The food it terrible and dining room service is even worse! Lot's of smiles little follow through. Non-professional, non-professional, non-professional!!!!! Financially taking advantage of the elderly. Basically, they just don't give a hoot about the resident or their family. I am being generous in this review.

Brookdale prides itself on providing a gracious setting including entertainment for residents . We were disappointed to find that staff apparently pays no attention to the enthusiasm of residents in response even to be disrespectful of performers. We saw this as a red flag on our tour and l would be hesitant to place a loved one here.

Unfortunately Brookdale's memory care section has been without a director for many months and the lack of care shows. Not unusual for the most important elder care employees, the caregivers who actually put their hands on mom or dad or gramma or grandpa, to be underpaid and over worked, and that is the case currently at Brookdale Fairfield. It's not that the caregivers don't try but they are understaffed and over-worked and it shows. If you plan to visit hold your breath... UPDATE>>> A new memory care director is on site. When we tried to contact him he was in his office on his cell phone with the door closed. I'm sure it was important. We will give him a few weeks to see if conditions improve, otherwise our family member will be relocating. What a messed up facility in a messed up industry...

I was shocked with the promises and smiles, and then services that were not delivered, rudeness to the family member that checked up on her father every day. The lack of basic medical care when he was so sick with pneumonia and they kept saying he was just fine. I found that whole situation just disgusting and truly pity that rest of the clientele that live there.

The facility has changed hands and is now owned by Brookdale. It's too bad. The administration bottom line is money. I've had a parent there for several years... And we moved out. Billing errors, lack of caregivers, overworked staff combine for a dangerous situation. State has been in several time. Do your homework before you move here.

My loved one really likes it there. They just keep getting bought out by other companies, and everytime they do, they keep raising the prices! The price to visit and have lunch or dinner is $11 a person! Also, if the residents want their breakfast brought up to them, they charge $5 now. Other than that, the staff is wonderful. They take care of the residents. If they miss two meals in a row, they go looking for them, and if they don't hit their button in the morning to show that they're up and awake, they come checking too. We've just heard that people are leaving because the prices are raising.

My parents endured 5 months of continuous neglect. Care plan was not followed. Care conferences yielded no changes. Parents did not receive their showers, did not get clothing changed. Did not get checked on. Did not get assistance in bathroom. Missed so many meals they both lost a lot of weight. Laundry not done, bed rarely changed. Hall floors were mopped twice in 5 months. I’m not exaggerating. Whole wing was filthy. No structure whatsoever in the evening. No guidance, no attention, no direction. Most care staff were on their phones in a quiet corner somewhere or behind closed doors in the nursing office. 3 caregivers were my favorite but they weren’t always in the memory care. Both receptionists were great. Reported to [removed name] in [removed date]. Moved out September. (in a great place now)

Oxford Memory Care has poor business practices. We have been promised a refund for my grandfathers monthly dues after he passed away in the facility this [removed date] was what we are promised and every time we call we get told when they will send it out. Losing a loved one is a hard and we don’t need this headache. This is so unfortunate because their staff is friendly, they care and we saw it every 2-3days we visited my grandfather. I can only imagine the other corners they are cutting in business that will ultimately impact the seniors at this facility in due time. Go somewhere else

A resident (my father) was found dead in his room and was in such a state as to have been dead for days. They don’t check on people here! He was in their level 3 care and should have been visited by staff multiple times before finally his own family member discovered his body sitting on the toilet deceased.

My husband went into memory care at Riverside Oxford in Fort Worth, Texas on [date removed]. I did not have a problem with the care however I wanted to move him closer to home in Saginaw so on [date removed]. I gave my 30 day notice to withdraw him from this facility. On [date removed] I took him out of this facility. I patiently waited for a refund from [dates removed]. I was told the check would be coming end of September, then the end of October. On [date removed], it will be six months since he was at this facility and I have received no money from them. I am legitimately owed a refund. I was given corporate phone number in Wichita Kansas with named of contact. I left multiple messages with this person as well as the head of accounting. Not a single person has contacted me nor have I received a refund. I would not place my loved one in this facility simply because you will not get a refund if your loved one dies there or you have to move them to another facility. I am due about $[removed].

Short staffed and poorly trained staff; promises not kept. Train staff to be more kind, more considerate, more welcoming, smile and show warmth, not stand at the doorway and yell out 'what do you want', be patient, get up close so they can hear and be heard.

The food is horrible. They are understaffed. Room size is good. My dad only went to one activity. He couldn't participate because you had to sign up a month in advance - so they wouldn't let him sing a song.

Looks are deceiving. Facility is impressive when touring, actual delivery of the services offered? Way below expectations. The medical staff and physical therapy are jokes. I wouldn't allow either group to apply a band aid to a paper cut. The actual caregivers are very kind, just the 2 "medical staff" should not be in any medical care giving roles. Lunch outings should not cost $[removed], especially if the person's actual meal was under $[removed].

I don't feel they really knew now to deal with Alzihemer, Dementia patients. They overdosed my Mom on meds to where she couldn't walk and barely talk. Her Rx is 0.5mg and they were giving her 2.5mg. Which was suppose to be a one time dose. Within a month they increased fee three times to the highest possible than told us we needed to hire someone to come in and take care of her personally or they would discharge her. At the end they admin was complaining she was to difficult. Than we found out they stopped one of her meds without doctors permission. Hospice told them repeatedly what the order was and they still would not give her the medication, because they keep saying it was as discontinued. When my Mom left there they even gave me the bubble packs for the medication they stopped giving her with the rest of her meds. I will stop there for I know this is a lot. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

They promised an onsite rehab facility, yet my mom was there 3 weeks and never once received rehab. Either the equipment wasn't working or there wasn't a therapist available.

They are a band of thieves! -100! Always ways to improve!

A bad place to have family under their care. They don’t provide the attention they claim to give. They put on an appearance during the first few days, but afterward they treat people poorly, leaving them waiting in their rooms for a long time.

My mom has had a very supportive environment at the Landing, primarily due to the Executive Director,[name removed] , and the Life Enrichment Director, Heather Prindle. I am very concerned that both these people, the heart of the Landing in Queensbury, have resigned abruptly because of toxic local and corporate management. I strongly urge the management to engage with [name removed] and [name removed] and make needed changes to support a positive work environment. When you lose your best people, it's time for some self-reflection and corrective action on the part of management.

They can improve by: Better communication with the families and explaining the financial portion can get a little better
