I like the dining experience and food. They could bring your food a little faster. They offer many activities for the residents. Everyone is very friendly. Yes, I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience so far.

Don't get me wrong. Most of the staff here are very good to the residents, but they are under the control of upper management to a certain extent. . They've had some serious upper management problems and ended up firing the Executive Director. When I came into Brookdale Clear Lake, my loved one and I had many questions and they answered them very well. So positive. However, after I got here, I found out that the answer to many of the questions - they just lied

The staff (admin, activities, maintenance, etc.) is responsive. E.g., after an unfortunate flood (caused by negligent contractors) in my assigned apartment on move-in day staff acted quickly with an all-hands-on-deck response to identify and move me to another apartment. The resident ambassador system actually works: I was contacted a few days after move in by another resident who provided useful info about life in the community. And text alerts from admin keep residents informed of things like city water outages, etc. Though the buildings are aging, they are maintained and apartments are upgraded. The Brookdale at Home unit provides (at additional cost) a variety of services like shopping, dog walking and some personal services. While the dining room servers are cordial and efficient and the breakfast and lunch hours are generous, the food leaves much to be desired. Not prepared well, not presented well, very limited choice. The location is notable: 3 miles to the Texas Medical Center, easy access to shopping and restaurants (Rice Village, Highland Village, Galleria area), 2 major grocery stores within feet of the community. Good public transit options (I'm probably one of the few [only?] residents using Houston Metro).

Staff Engagement and Turnover: Observe how staff interact with residents—are they warm, patient, and attentive? Also, ask about staff turnover. High turnover can impact consistency and quality of care. Cleanliness and Safety: Pay close attention to how clean the facility is, especially common areas, bathrooms, and dining spaces. Ask about safety protocols, especially if your parent has mobility or cognitive issues. Communication with Families: Find out how the facility keeps families informed about their loved one’s well-being. Consistent, proactive communication makes a big difference in peace of mind. Activities and Socialization: A good facility should offer a range of activities that match your parent’s interests and abilities. Social engagement helps fight isolation and depression. Personalized Care: Make sure the facility can accommodate your parent’s specific needs—whether it’s memory care, medication management, dietary restrictions, or mobility support. Ask for examples of how they tailor care plans. Meal Quality: Try to visit during mealtime or ask to see a menu. Food is a big part of a resident’s day, and good nutrition and enjoyable meals matter. Gut Feeling: Finally, trust your instincts. If something doesn’t feel right—even if everything looks fine on paper—it’s worth digging deeper or looking elsewhere.

Caregivers are great. Response time is pretty good. They could provide more variety on the food and better quality.

I like their approach and commitment but the follow thru was occasionally spotty. However my father could be difficult and uncooperative so not sure who gets the blame.

I learned about these senior living apartments through a place for mom network. I believe you never get a second chance to make a first impression, and I was very impressed with my reception. [name removed] is outstanding!!! She was very helpful and informative, very knowledgeable and the food was excellent. My mother is extremely happy and I feel it’s the best gift she has ever received for her birthday. Thanks again for the recommendation and I would definitely recommend this senior living village to all!!!

My wife is busy all day with singing dancing playing games. Seems to be happy. Great staff. Activity director is incredible. She keeps all of the patients engaged. The overall director responds quickly to any problems we might have.

As a whole the facility/staff has been very kind to me. When I moved became a resident [date removed], I could walk. Had surgery on my foot in [date removed]. Staff was able to assist me with my Laundry. Deliver meals to me as I requested to my apartment. Special request through their facilities work-order is generally handled in a timely manner. I recommend Brookdale.

On the plus side: roomy apartments; friendly residents and staff; lots of activities and trips; more reasonably priced than the other places we visited. On the minus side: an older facility, not as modern as others we visited; current transition in top management; hallways are outside and subject to seasonal temperatures and weather.

Facility is nice and recently renovated. In a great location. Leadership very responsive and accommodating. Food is good. Facility able to provide a wide range of assistance depending on needs. However, Some times have to remind care assistants multiple times about a request. Would definitely recommend it in my opinion. Very happy so far.

Excellent email communication. Great care during weather disturbances. Super nice residents who seem to be happy. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Highly recommend!

The staff is great. The food has gone down and smaller servings. The hallways are filthy. They are open to outdoors in sections of the bldg. the price will reach unaffordable in January. They are in a money pinch. The former admin was walked out by headquarters 2weeks ago. Too much spent on booze and elaborate food. And decorations. The grounds look nice.

They are a lovely place. Thanks for your support in finding them. I was struck by the ease between the staff and residents. The staff are relaxed and patient and conversive w/ the residents. Folks in the memory care are regularly engaged w/ projects and presentations and time outside. My brother likes the food and the tv/movie time together. He isn't often left alone in his room. A place for mom we're knowledgeable and prompt in getting my brother to the right place.

Things I like most are that the staff are taking good care of my Dad and are friendly and helpful. Things they could improve on are the phone system. It is hard to get in touch with anyone after 5 pm. There is no extension to call the nursing staff.

A new management company has taken over Legacy, It's a whole new staff which is causing some issues because the old staff knew the residents. Maybe a good time to move in because everyone is new. The administration stayed the same but are not as friendly as before. Along with the staff, everyone use to say hello and now they don't or you can't find anyone. So transition pains I believe. My dad is still happy for the most part. Facility is great and feels like home to my Dad. It's clean! Well taken care of.

Like the overall facility, staff and administration. Could improve on communication with family when events occur with my mom.

Staff is very friendly, they spend time getting to know the residents and are always helpful. Exceptional staff, convenient location is what stuck out over other places.
