A Place for Mom has scored Pegasus Senior Living, LLC with 8.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 611 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Pegasus Senior Living, LLC has 2,513 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 4.2 out of 5.
The overall experience is sometimes it's a 4 but with 3 turnover in manager & nursing personnel there, one can't really get a read on how well things are being taken care of. There is a new director [name removed] which I've heard good things about. The front entrance always looks well kept but the dinning room, halls, and residents rooms need better care when cleaning. [name removed] the activity director is wonderful and does her best to make life at Ridgeland Place a good experience. Nurses are fine, there are some who work in the dinning room and aides that are very kind but others sometimes rude. Nurse & physical therapist are good. They try hard to listen and be helpful. The food has been good as of late. I would say the cost of what you're getting is ok. We do struggle with the fact that everyone seems to have a different rate and every time you turn around there's another rent increase. I would like to say that I fine it unexceptionable to have that tiny elevator when it seem there are a lot more folks in wheelchair or with walker.

My wife died on [date removed] at Ridgeland Place. She spent a year and 7 months there. My assessment is that staff, with a few exceptions, was kind and attentive. The administrative staff, however, was more focused on getting more money out of me than providing quality care. At the end, when [name removed] reached the final stage of Alzheimers/Dementia, the staff increased their price to a level I could no longer afford. Mind you, the level of care would remain the same. This caused me a great deal of stress as I was forced to find another facility I could afford. No one would take her forcing me to accept their terms. I would have to sell my property to do so if I could not get help from Medicaid. [name removed] died before I had to make that decision. I think she knew what was happening. I can forgive, but I will not forget. What brings it down is #4 and especially #7. The quality of care wasn't always there, as I had to remind staff on several occasions as to her insulin injections and other medications. The staff did care and were attentive when I brought this to their attention. However, they needed to be better organized. #7 is an entirely different matter. [fee removed] per month is a lot of money and stretched me to the limit. I have no long term care insurance and had to pay out of pocket. An increase to [fee removed] a month FOR NO INCREASE in care would have resulted in eventual bankruptcy. The administration did so because they could under existing laws and rules. The value was not there. The administrative staff was not helpful in helping me find an affordable accommodation as they would not return calls from other facilities I contacted. I wish to make clear that my experience with Ridgeland Place is not unusual. Life expectancy has and continues to increase and facilities like Ridgeland Place have exploded. There is a need for such and a means to make them affordable must be found.

Biggest problem was turnover at EVERY position except activities mgr and front desk. That led to inconsistent quality and execution. We picked this community because; 1) We liked the move in special. 2) proximity to me 3) bright lighting 4) fit our budget 5) they made a good first impression. But they had quite a bit of turnover in the front office soon afterward

My step-mom always commented that the staff seemed a little racist. We didn't take her seriously, as she had a lot of complaints in general. But after she passed, my step sister met with the admin director (I think that was her role), who had just quit. And she verified that there was a lot of racism among staff and it was reflected in their treatment toward residents. My Dad was in memory care, and tended to wander at night. He ended up falling and had a lot of bruising. We never got a clear answer as to why he wasn't monitored more carefully and that report was never passed onto us. So I have my own reservations about their memory care ward. Aside from that, visitors were always treated well.

My loved one states that the staff come into their apartment at will. They sometimes knock but enter before my loved one can get to the door. To some degree I can understand this but my loved one is pretty independent and able to do most things without help. There seems to be what I would call your typical high school “pack” of friends. If you are new on the block you just can’t sit in a vacant seat because it is reserved for someone’s friend who may or may not show up for their meal. Often times those at the end of the meal line are told that “we are out of the planned meal” so they get a substitute which usually seems to be a hamburger. Please keep in mind that I have not been there at meal time but I hear my loved ones complaints. There seems to be some communication issues between staff and clients. Activities seem to get cancelled when too few clients sign up for them. It also seems that clients are unaware of activities before they happen, thus the client has no option to attend or not attend. They do have a television monitor that provides information but I think when dealing with older folks, they sometimes can’t understand or even see what is being offered. I think communication to the family member(s) could be better

MIL lives here. She says the food selection is not good. Too much fish- she doesn’t like fish. Not chef quality meals. 90% of her “meals” are ordered from the “all the time menu” . She seems super dissatisfied with this but she doesn’t cook, has major hand tremors keeping her from heating up her own meals in her studio. You asked for a review……food, not good. Apparently dining area gets super crowded because it can’t accommodate people and walkers, wheelchairs etc….

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring some concerns to your attention regarding the care . - **High employee turnover**: There seems to be frequent changes in staff, which affects the consistency of care. - **Time management**: It often takes too long for the staff to respond to the call button. - **Laundry handling**: Clothes are often left in baskets, making it difficult to know which are clean and which are dirty. - **Cleaning**: The bathroom is frequently left unclean, and overall cleanliness is inconsistent. - **Staff behavior**: Some staff members talk down to residents and their families, which is concerning. On a positive note, I am grateful for the excellent activities provided for the residents, which are truly beneficial. [name removed]in sales is an exceptional staff member who loves her residence and is a role model! [name removed]was a great member of your team I wish she could come back .

I felt they were great in all categories until my dad actually needed care after his stroke. The nursing staff is horrible, telling people they can help and then not following through. For those who are basically healthy it is a good choice. But look else where if they need any extra care

The main comment I have is that there has been a lot of turnover in staff in the time that my mom has been there, including executive director, head of nursing, and many of the caregivers. This is problematic for a number of reason and has a negative impact on the experience my mom is having.

There is a tendency there to disempower the residents. The assumption seems to be that newcomers are not capable of making sound decisions. The food is very over-salted and also seems to increase incontinence.

When we originally toured the facility, the staff were friendly, the residents were smiling and appeared well cared for. After touring 3 other places we decided Sun City West was our best option, even knowing that it was a private facility that Medicare wouldn’t pay for. Even being aware that our father’s Alzheimer’s would progress and he would eventually need memory care, we still felt this was the best of all options. Dad made friends with several residents quickly, one woman was from Russia and she led a group of people who liked to walk. Dad walked every day for years so he fit right in. Within 2 months there were staff changes, and then dad had a stroke. This quickly propelled him to the next stage of his illness and he needed memory care. Their memory care are was closed off and very small. They did not have any activities for them to do besides watch television in the common area. They were always short-staffed. Most care givers were friendly and helpful, but we could see and the stress they were under. Dad did not do well there. He got Covid as many other residents did, it couldn’t be helped. But he also got infections because he was not being cleaned properly. We live an hour away and we would drive over several times a week to clean his room and bathe him. When we could see the situation was not improving, we started looking for another care home.

Lots of turnover. Long term ones are great. I think about 9 EDs just since our parents moved in [date removed]. Employees seem to think the issue is the micromanager Regional Mgr. Several who left and some still there have said that. [name removed](activities) works her booty off, does a great job. It's her whole life. There were price increases before they were even there for a year. Three since they moved in. Maintenance has also been revolving and I would rate 1 at most. Receptionists are excellent, but messages are forwarded and rarely acknowledged as there is no stable leadership. They have hired some amazing people, but are unable to retain most of them.

Super friendly and accommodating to get you in... then nothing. Once you have signed the contract they drop the act. The food issue has to do with staffing- they have been days when the cook doesn't show up. Or at least that is what we have been told. The activities offered are underwhelming. We are also in a weird situation. My aunt has dementia and was in memory care. After a month she "tested out" of memory care into AL. She rapidly declined in AL and is currently in rehab at Stratford Commons for the next 3 weeks after a week in the hospital. Her most recent fall occurred just after a phone call with the director & nursing director threatening to kick her out due to her incontinence. We were up front prior to her move that as far as we knew she was completely incontinent.

The staff at Broadway Mesa Village are friendly. The facility is clean, the food is good, and there are quite a few activities for the residents to choose from. Quality of care at first the place was amazing now that my mother is declining. They cannot take care of her and until we find a spot for her they're trying their best. I guess so probably three. The meals are really good activities probably a three they don't always do activities and then poor people are just sitting there just staring at the walls Cleanliness one my mother's room is disgustingly dirty and I am the one that always cleans it friendly staff probably a three. My mother fell one day and had to go to the emergency room and we asked the nurse to keep an eye on my mom so she wouldn't fall again and a nurse told us that if she fell, she fell it wasn't her problem so friendliness not so good. Value for my money we pay [name removed] a month and it's absolutely definitely not worth it. I clean her room. I do her laundry because her laundry is never done as far as them giving medicine and feeding her that's about all the good for so for the value of my cost I give them a one.
