It was good until it was not…

My experience at this community was anything but good. PLEASE LISTEN! Throughout my stay things quickly took a turn for the worst. The first thing my family and I noticed was that the management team is very disorganized and does not do anything in a timely manner. Meals & Activities hardly ever start on time… The care staff has a lack of compassion when taking care of residents. The food is worse than prison food. Caregivers constantly yell at each other down the hallways and fight in front of residents. Most caregivers sit and play on their phones all day. There is absolutely no accountability from the Executive Director in holding employees responsible for their actions. A few months ago I told my family I wanted to move to another community. We decided it was time to move on from this horrid place. I am at a different community now and much happier. I do not recommend the Oaks at Post Road. Especially with the current management and caregivers that are there. Go elsewhere!

I am a visiting caregiver. I have been to this facility many times and have been in the field 20 years, Although this has always been a nice looking and feeling place, my most recent experiences here have been horrible. The staff yells all the time non stop at night and early morning. They act like they own the place and not like this is the residents homes. They are loud and disrespectful. They do not knock before entering rooms. They need some serious management and teaching. They need to actually care and they don’t care about anyone sleeping here. Worst part is families don’t know because they aren’t here late nights or early. I’m listening to them now like they are partying. Talk and yell less, and work more.

Not too good

My aunt was here for awhile in memory care. It was not a good place for her. There really wasn't enough activities in memory care. Seemed to sit around mostly. We ended up moving her elsewhere. She seems much happier now, which makes us much happier. I can't really provide information on the other section of the Oaks as we only were involved only in memory care.

It was very disturbing.

It was overall clean, but there was a gentleman who was not well supervised, who was urinating in the corner, and it got progressively worse. They were very friendly. We had to remove my loved one for safety reasons. Despite having visited several times, we just didn't see what it really was. It was very disturbing. I don't feel like any of the clients were well supervised, all of the staff seemed to be preoccupied with housekeeping and medications, and the occasional activities, which when they did have them were really good. There was a really poor attentiveness to the residents. They were left to wander unsupervised for hours at the time. Safety was my biggest concern, when the staff was with the residents they were good. I don't think the activities were to the level of the functioning of the residents. I don't think there was enough individual attention. I chose it for the friendliness of the staff, I liked the resident to staff ratio, and we visited during activity times, and that seemed good. I didn't feel there was enough encouragement of the residents to go to bed. They didn't seem to be proactive with emergencies.

The place is a Nightmare

This place is a nightmare. It's beautiful on the outside but behind those doors is another story. My mother died at this facility last year. She suffered more than she needed to because of the errors and lack of descent personnel. It was a nightmare to see her suffer so much. They have lost so many staff and residents over the last six months. So many staff left because the new owners didn't seem to care about the residents. Even after my mom they still didn't get there [removed] together. My step father is been getting some terrible care so he is moving out real soon. I just pray that another family will not have to go thru what we did. Please please keep an eye on your family if there are there.

My mother recently left this facility...

My mother recently left this facility and we did not have a good experience. There is not enough staff for the amount of residents that are there. The food is not that great and the place is filthy. The carpets are stained and i have seen bugs in the dinning room before. The staff always seemed to be changing as well. They tell you a lot of things to get you in the door and get your money, but they don't deliver. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Physical Therapy

Be very aware of their physical therapy services. Their staff will tell you they have had your PT approved and your copay total will be a "nominal amount " and give you a price which is not even close to the ridiculous bill they send. Then they try to tell you your insurance is out of network. ( The same one they say was pre-approved.) I would advise residents to get PT outside of this facility.

Very Upset Right Now

Don't recommend this place. They're good as can be for awhile then I guess they figure they've got you and the care dissipates. I started doing my mom's laundry because they did such a bad job. We've been giving her showers because they don't. Mom has dementia and she'll tell them she's already had a bath. Well, DUH. ASSISTED living is the clue here. Assist her. We pay them enough. She's out of breathing meds and only has enough for tonight. If there's an emergency, they'll call and ask if we want them taken to ER? Again, DUH! Don't take the time to call us. Call 911 and get them on their way THEN call us. Cindy can get things done. She'll help you in any way she can and you can rest assured it'll be done. The only reason my mom is still there is she won't move. I'm to the point of taking her somewhere else in spite of what she wants.

Terrible experience for my family

My family had a very unpleasant experience at this facility. My mother had become completely non-ambulatory and had to move from the personal care home her & my father lived in because they were not licensed to care for non-ambulatory residents. The staff from the Oaks facility, including an admission RN, came and evaluated my mother. They said that they could definitely care for her, were licensed to care for non-ambulatory residents; and accepted her, So, we paid the monthly fee and moved both our parents here, After 6 days, they inform us that they will no longer care for my mother. They now say she is too hard to move (weighs 135 pounds). They then refuse to get her out of bed. They informed me that she had to move immediately. My family had to hire private personal care givers to get my mother up each day & care for her until we found alternative living arrangements. This was a very difficult and stressful time for our family. It saddened us to put my parents through this. The site manager and the owner agreed to refund our community fee but in the end never did. Overall, this was one of the worst experiences of my life.

We toured this facility. Pretty on the outside. Was not at all impressed with the inside or the resident rooms. The rooms are dark, only 1 small window in bedroom. We decided this was not the place for our dad. As a side note, the lady at the front desk was rather rude and unfriendly. Did not have a good feeling here.

Observations of a daily visitor

I am giving a poor review because of the many observations I have made on my daily visits at different times of the day. These are not positive observations. Everytime I go in the residents are placed in the TV room and they watch TV and not necessarily programs that enhance there mental capacities.I call it TV sitting. What individual enrichment is it they are suppose to get? Sorry I dont see it. I have had too many conferences and the result is empty promises. The aids are fine as long as corporate is there and Tiffany does her programs/which are wonderful. When corporate leaves its a whole different story. The schedule that is posted is not followed. There is plenty of motivational ng material available including DVD, musicals that get their feet tapping. I guess its easier to turn on the TV without any reguard to appropriateness.I asked an aid to cut my husbands nails which were long and dirty. She hands my tiny ladies clippers. I did specifically ask her to cut his nails/guess I wasnt specific enough. At 7:00 residents faces still had there dinner on their face.My opinion is week-ends are just more TV Aids are not n activity room [removed]. I see isolation of non verbal residents lined up by dining room. No supervision or encouragement to join a group. You dont ask residents if they want to join an activity-you encourage them-take them to the room and make every effort to engage them.

Choose Somewhere Else

Consider this facility a pass. We were not pleased or impressed. The Facility was dirty. Staff seems uninterested and untrained.

Don't even consider Morninside of Conyers

Moved Mom here 3 years ago, it was wonderful, warm friendly, great activities. Staff was happy and caring. Not so any more. Current Executive Director [removed] has run it into the ground. Very bad morale among staff that has stayed, 96% of the good staff left. The staff begs family members to call the complaint line. Turns out that is not anonymous, they look up the number the call was made from, then send all the information including the recorded message to [removed]. Just started having activities again 2 months ago. Very understaffed, lots of health/safety violations are very evident, like the handicapped front entrance that wouldn't open for 4 days. Washers, dryers, dishwasher and stove are always breaking down, left unpaired for long periods of time. But they have a fancy new doormat! [removed] acts like a prison warden, the only time she smiles is when she is trying to suck in a new resident. She ignores the residents and when family complains about problems, nothing is done.

I visited a loved one over the Memori...

I visited a loved one over the Memorial Day weekend, and I could not believe how much this place has changed since the new owners came in. The place was dirty, trash was over flowing in the room, food from the day before was left in the room, and the smell was sickening. My loved one had not showered in days. It broke my heart to see this happening. We have since moved my loved one out of there. Please do not put your loved one through this.

Please look for another facility

My father in law resided at Gracemont for the last three years. My mother in law died at this facility last year. My wife was always fighting for good care. I recently visited my father in law. I had to fix the wheelchair in his room. Within about ten minutes I was so sick to my stomach by the smell of urine. I went into the bathroom and it was even worse in there. The floor in his bathroom had not been cleaned in so long. I just couldn't believe how bad it was. My mother in law suffered so much more than should of her last ten days of her life because of all of Gracemonts errors. It would take almost an hour to get her medicine. Really hard to watch. Please look for another facility

Tired of fighting for good care

My step father had to be moved out of Gracemont today because of lack of good care. So many days he would still have his dinner from the night before on his table at 11:00 am the next day. By this time the food is really stinking. He is still laying in bed and had not even gotten up. His bathroom stinks so bad because it never gets cleaned. The hospice nurse saw these conditions this week and couldn't believe it. We are just so tired of fighting for good care.
