They will drive residents to stores in Novato, and to doctors as far as North San Rafael (Where Kaiser is). Very flexible and helpful. Staff is friendly. Place is very clean, and they keep each apartment clean as well.

The faculty is bright, very organized and very clean. The director was attentive and supportive. The residents appeared to be well cared for. I was there at the end of lunch and the food looked fresh and well prepared. I would have liked to observe an activity session with the residents.

I have a mixed review for Bonaventure of Thornton now The Ivy Thornton. This facility has recently changed ownership and the new owners are making lots of changes. Many of these changes appear to be cosmetic without real substance. They have struggled with proper staffing and my mother’s room has been cleaned inconsistently. I am disappointed at the lack of communication with families in the memory care unit as my mother cannot communicate changes to us. Their menu changes left my mother sick for four days before we learned of the changes. They also have a lot of opinions about what residents should be doing for enrichment without regard for what my mom enjoys doing. The caregivers are really good and take good care of my mom. At this point, we are watching to see if Ivy of Thornton continues to be the best care for my mother given all of the changes.

I feel that they overpromised on individualized care. Room size is great. Overall , the place is clean and smells nice.

There is always room for improvement. Keep in mind, this is our first experience with assisted living. Overall the staff is very friendly, caring, and supportive. Naturally, some staff members really stand out. Activities are held every day and all day for anyone wanting to participate. They also have tours and excursions weekly in their own transport vehicle. I would note that the vehicle is very old which needs upgrading but an excellent, helpful driver. Our room is a sizable studio with a view but there is traffic noise from the street below. The facility is well kept with no objectionable odors. Meals are served regularly with no set times so you can eat on your schedule. Unfortunately, I would only rate the food as mediocre but then, I guess you have to consider the clientele. The food is bland to me. Ivy is not cheap but I would recommend it if affordable.

Generally, we're happy there. The main reason it was chosen was geography. 1 mile from family. Everyone is super friendly and the place is immaculately clean. When it come to care, scheduling things, it's a bit of a circus. They are trying, but they are massively disorganized. Showers scheduled, nobody shows up, replacement workers show up, they are under qualified. Food is sufficient, not great, not bad, very average.

Positive: They are very attentive to the residents. Negative: on the memory care side, I would like to see more activities for men.

Residents in a memory care facility tend to be watched by keeping the residents in a local area rather than letting them go to their room for an afternoon nap. Families must understand that their loved ones have to be watched so they don't fall or do something that endangers them or others. So you will see residents in this type of facility, snoozing in a chair or wheelchair in the common areas where they can be seen. Ivy Terrace is liked by other families as well. They like the staff, as do I. And they work hard to make their residents feel loved, comfortable, and important.

Dedicated care workers who are skilled at taking care of the elderly. Good food choices at the Dining Room. Expensive for the average retiree.

My parents needed more nursing care and although Ivy Park originally said they could help they could not. Their current facility has full time nurses 24-7. I thought the staff was pretty helpful with tasks around their apartment. The nursing staff wasn't all that helpful

Have lived here several months and the experience is superior. The staff is dedicated, the food is diverse, tasty and more than sufficient. The activity programs are extensive and interesting. Trips are frequent and to interesting points of interest. I would recommend the experience to all who are seeking a superior long- term senior living facility.

We've had a very positive overall experience so far-especially considering they're currently going through a number of changes. The facility is generally very clean, and the staff is consistently friendly and welcoming. The quality of care has been reassuring. My mom is slowly declining, but I truly believe she's being cared for as well as can be expected, and that gives our family peace of mind. The administrative staff has also been excellent-helpful, responsive, and professional. While I don't eat there regularly, I have attended a few holiday banquets, and the food has been superb. They also recently brought in a new activities director, which seems like a positive step forward. In terms of value, it appears to be in line with other facilities in the area. What really stands out, though, is how much the caregivers genuinely care about the residents-it makes a meaningful difference. One of our favorite features is the garden. It's absolutely beautiful, with roses and trees that my mom-and our whole family-truly enjoy.

There is no air conditioning in the rooms. Their bookkeeping/invoices are difficult to understand. Excellent meals, many choices. Lots of activities, both on site and bus tours. They also moved all belongings and furniture. Even packed clothes. That is a one trip free offer. If more trips required there is a charge.

Noticably caring and friendly residents and staff. Smaller resident population than other communities we've visited.. very flexible dining hours. Great outdoor space in center of facility. Apartment size bigger than other facilities visited, very comfortable. Limited resident car parking on property.

My mother is happy with the food and the activities. The public spaces seem very clean. The weekly cleaning of her room is not as good, although she has two cats and we are not paying extra for them. There seems to be very high staff turnover; I'm not sure but this may be typical for this type of facility. She has an "open suite" so there are two rooms plus a fridge and microwave. Space is sufficient for her, but we rejected the single room version as being too small. We felt that we got a good price for the suite originally, but they have raised the price twice by 8% on her move-in anniversary, which seems high.

For us, the size of the apartment was wonderful. Plenty of room. Was generally clean all around. The staff that took care of my dad was very good. The administration of the memory care wing was a little inexperienced and it showed. The food was fine and they were always willing to accommodate a picky eater. I thought there could have been more activities to keep the memory care residents more engaged.

Positive would be the staff, physical therapist on site, pleasant surroundings. Also the fact that my niece didn't have to go out shopping for Depends and some other self care products. On the negative, my sister picked up several ailments while there including a scabies type rash, eye infection. Also, even though clothes were labeled, she was constantly losing hers, and wearing other resident's clothes... Another negative is that my sister 'lost' her glasses several times there - one time they were under the bed but the staff couldn't find them or didn't look. I think the care staff who were the residents the most had too much to do - too many issues to look into. Even with the negative comments, Oakmont Folsom was by far better than any other similar residence.

My husband and I chose the Ivy Park at Piner because 1. Their initiation fee was the most reasonable 2. The staff are very helpful and answered our questions any time. 3. Their locked area looks clean 4. We can choose a private or semi private room, and either one I choose a resident have a private bathroom (but a shower is shared for a semi private. 5. They have nicer views Cons: 1. Whoever comes in, the just need to write name and can proceed to the memory care area. They don't verify visitors' ID. 2. We kept on asking for the room key, but it took almost a month. We still don't have a room key. The staff can lock the door when we asked. 3. There are many times other residents came into my brother-in-law's room and even several items were missing. (Therefore, we don't leave any valuable items in his room) 4. Nobody is actually walking with him even though we requested. It's literally let the residents do on their own.

All staff are friendly and helpful. Memory care staff are especially caring and skilled in their tasks.

Housing and activities are 5. Food seems good. Staff are nice but there are times the wait can be 15-20 moments before someone arrives when called. There is significant red tape in getting basic medical care implemented, everything minor item requiring a physician order. Soaking a toe requires a home health referral. This may be the case with other facilities. The sales people are very communicative, the care coordinators are not. Very frustrating to get a call back or response to emails (if there was a separate category for the coordinators I would give them a "2". My sister requires high amounts of care and it is expensive. Ivy Park feeds details into a software program and comes out with a fee that is not transparent. Overall this is a place that would be more value for a resident who has minimal mobility and can still perform some activities of daily living. They have a memory unit which I have not yet toured. I would be wary of the cost of the caregiving services, as what they list are not always included without a significant charge.
