At first, the activities, as well as the appearance was extremely appealing to me for my mother. She was admitted mid-May 2018. After time, I noticed numerous changes in staff, including the activities director. My mother and staff always have had positive interactions - to my knowledge and observation. An outbreak of scabies occurred this summer. I expressed my concern about co-mingling of clothing and linens to be laundered and the possibility of transmission, as I had found my mother wearing another's clothes and someone else's bedding on her bed. I subsequently labeled all my mother's clothing and linens. Several weeks after treatment and assurances that the epidemic was gone, my mother began scratching. I immediately, consulted with the nursing staff and I was told that the scabies was not eradicated and that all the residents would need to undergo treatment simultaneously again. Treatment includes a topical application of permethrin - head to toe - and ivermectin. These are very potent drugs (insecticides) and repeated doses are problematic, from my point of view. These are elderly people whose systems not only have to metabolize their own medications, but also very potent medications for treatment of scabies. Yet, I have still found other's clothing in my mother's room. I brought this immediately to the attention of the new Exec Director and I have high hopes that many changes will be forthcoming. Somerford is a very nicely arranged living situation with garden, patio, walkways, and activities room. Most of the staff have always been friendly and they love my mother. I which them success in making necessary changes!

I chose this facility for myself because I liked the location. I wanted to be closer to my family. When I first moved in, it felt like it wasn’t operating at full speed. The staff members here are friendly but I think they could use some more training. The building itself is pretty well kept and clean. As for the food, they’re trying. Most of the time it’s good and they listen to what you tell them and what you don’t like. They are making some changed with the menu which will make an improvement. I would recommend this facility to other families.

We went on a tour here and the staff was nice and helpful. They answered all of my questions. It looked like a nursing home. Seemed to be clean , friendly staff. It wasn't the right fit for my dad. If you have good finances you don't want to go here. If you are on a limited income this might be the perfect fit.

The staff here did what they should have in the care of my friend. It was also a very clean facility and saw nothing wrong with it. The only problems I had was the fact they were not that cooperative and accommodating. There were a few times that I needed help and I spoke with the front desk and they bounced me from person to person. They just didn't seem to want to help me. Also, the food was not top rate by any means and it was just institutionalized food. I would not recommend this facility as highly as other places.

When we first pulled up to the facility, we immediately ruled it out for my Father. My sister said that it was not an acceptable place to bring him. The grounds weren’t top notch at all. There were a lot of parts to the building that really needed paint. It just wasn’t up to par with our standards. The other thing we did not like is that it wasn’t all contained within one building. You actually had to go outside and walk if you wanted to go to activities. My dad isn’t very mobile and trying to get him up and moving, then go outside in 100-degree weather just wasn’t going to happen. I would not recommend this community.

My mom was at this community for a short time and there were some staffing changes during this time. The staff were nice and minimally professional, however it seemed that the staff were only there to do a job. The executive director was excellent. They did have some administrative issues. The community is nice it just was not the right fit for my loved one.

My mother has only been there a couple of weeks. The best thing about this place are the friendly employees, staff and caregivers. One thing important to know is that this isn't air-conditioning in any of the rooms for their clients. Also they only have analog for television and internet. It is in desperate need for updating. So as long as the only thing you are concerned with this the care, this is a good place.

The ambience of this facility was not as fresh inviting as other facilities, however we liked the staff very much. Also, we were informed that they are beginning a major remodeling project since a new company recently took over. Pricing was very reasonable, and I expect it will increase when the improvements are made.

We toured this community and it was a nice place with friendly staff.The reason we didn't choose this community is because a lot of the residents wee in wheelchairs and not interacting. The environment was a depressing and we felt his care needs were not as advanced as many of the residents here.

The facility seemed Ok but as mentioned in some reviews there is a urine smell to the place. It is a bit dated but seemed like it was clean. I am considering this location.

This is a high rise style community and I did not think it would work for my dad. The staff were nice and knowledgable. They have a pool onsite. I may have chosen this community if the setup was smaller.

It has all just been very loose with the Brookdale Sellwood. The plan of care, the follow-up and follow through. Overall we are not terribly satisfied with the facility. Also, the food is crappy as well.

It's such a dark place, they said they were keeping stimulation down but it's just creating a depressive atmosphere.

The food is very good. We like the flexibility of going to the dining room. Thee staff has been pretty friendly. I can't rate the activities because my loved one does not participate in them. Overall, The Regency Place has been a pretty good experience.

This is one of the places we considered over the course of all of our searching for the right solution, for our loved on. Unfortunately this was too old, and they just didn't offer enough amenities, to keep dad happy. It was clean, and the staff was friendly, but it was not a great fit for us.

I think that in the memory care unit in which mom stayed, the people do the best they can with what they have. However, I believe they are overworked and understaffed. Mom was pretty much bedridden and needed a lot more 1x1 special care and attention than what they were able to give. They need more hands-on with some of these bedridden patients. Once the staff realized how concerned I was, they did do their best to take care of mom, but I'm just not sure it was enough.

My loved one has fallen – and they chose to send my loved one by ambulance twice – and I don’t think that was necessary – I think there should be judgment. I’ve been there when my loved one was eating and the food looks okay. The public relation person when we first went there was awesome, but there has been turn over in administration and nursing staff.

My loved one doesn’t take part in the activities. The people we saw there seemed happy. They could do better on the laundry service. The staff is particularly friendly. My loved one eats in the room. I wish they’d make sure she could reach it. They’re responsive when we ask for changes to care or living environment.
