New Perspective Senior Living

The process of sifting and sorting all the information from various alternative options for independent and/or assisted living can be complex, difficult to understand, and often traumatic for those whose placement is directly involved. [name removed] at New Perspective was terrific. She was patient, informative, always looking for solutions to problem areas as they were discussed. The result was a very high level of comfort for my 80 year old sister in making these important decisions. A great start to what we hope will be a long-term relationship.

I am writing a review for New Perspective Senior living of Highland Park based on my experience regarding my mom and my stepfather. Also, my dad was there in memory care. Making the decision to move my mom and stepfather to New Perspective was the best decision we ever made! Moving them from their home was hard. After a few weeks they were thriving. No more worrying if they were taking their meds, or wondering if they were eating well. The staff was amazing! They are always helpful and caring. They made friends, played cards, played bingo, went to church. The music they brought in was wonderful. Even if my parents got sick, they staff at New Perspective would call the doctors. If they had to be hospitalized, the staff was always in communication with family and doctors. They were welcomed like royalty when they came home from the hospital. My dad was at a different Senior Living. It was determined that he need memory care. His facility did not have memory care at the time. Knowing how much we loved New Perspective Highland Park, we moved him in. The first day a dear staff member came up to me and hugged me and said, "Don't worry, we'll take good care of him." And boy, did they ever! He was so well taken care of. During the 4 years at New Perspective there have been many times I had to deal with new medications, food restrictions, walkers, wheelchairs, sickness you name it. The staff was always so willing, caring and supportive. All three of my parents are gone now. They were able to stay in their cute little apartments until the end. I feel compelled to let others know that my parents all left this world with such love and dignity from the staff. I take great comfort knowing that they felt like they were home! When my parents first moved in to New Perspective, [name removed], the director said to me. "We are not perfect, we are people taking care of people". I think he was wrong. I think they are perfect!!!!

My dad is currently here and he is now in hospice. From the beginning we were treated with care and concern. It was our first experience with placing a loved one in specialty care and new perspectives north shore was a good decision. The caregivers are very sensitive to my dads needs. Hospice Care added extra care and I feel good about his placement. They really had a great plan and great expectations but God had other plans. What I liked about the staff they know I am not a medical profession but they still considered my opinion. It helped because they always offered hope even in the face of the inevitable. I don’t think any family could go wrong placing their loved one here at New Perspectives Morth Shore!

This community has the best "vibe" of all the facilities we toured. The staff and residents are friendly and welcoming. The nursing and food service staff here is very attentive to my brother - they go above and beyond for him. He is in an attractive 1-bedroom apartment that is fitting his needs. I would recommend this community!

Everything has been going very well for my loved one. We have been very pleased with the facility and their staff team. The friendly atmosphere between the other residents and the staff has made it an easier adjusting period for my loved one. The facility is very light and airy which was nice. They did a good job keeping the area very clean. Like most places, they have a full range of activities. My father is involved with a veteran group. They get together a few times a week and talk which I think has been good for my father. He also is starting to get involved in exercise classes and religious activities. They have church service on site. Occasionally they also take the residents off site to go to the mall or restaurants. I recommend this location to other families.

I am really amazed at everything that this facility does for my Mother. Every time I visit her, she is always active and doing something. They have a lot of activities like sitting by the bonfire making smores, doing hair, doing nails, cooking things together, and a lot of other things that keep her mind busy. The staff is also what makes this place so great. They are very friendly and quick in letting me know what’s going on. They really care and have made this transition for my Mother a lot easier. The people really make the difference. I would recommend this community.

We toured this community and it was to dark there. It was a smaller community and would've worked well. But we didn't like the memory care unit. The staff was friendly and wonderful. She gave us some good advice. She has called and checked back with us that was nice.

[Removed] was very helpful in finding a place for my aunt!! She checked in with us often to see how everything was going and even after we got our Aunt settled in!! I would definitely recommend this to everyone looking for a place for a loved one!!

Very pleased. Everyone is friendly, staff and residents. The food is good with a wide variety. The place is well kept.

Our tour of this community was wonderful, the staff were great they showed us all around, answered all our questions and it would have been a great fit for my parents except that my mom would need a mobile lift as she is immobile and they do not have one here so we would have to purchase one on our own for her to be able to live there

The staff here is wonderful! They work so hard and they are really nice and helpful. I have to give them a lot of credit. No complaints. Love the water therapy. I like the food. They do a great job. It is even getting better. I'm glad I came!

I'm happy with everything that people have done for me. I have signed up for all sorts of activities and they have a wheelchair lift on the bus for me! I have made a lot of friends here. I have had a lot of help from the staff here in getting settled and things figured out with my insurance and other things. So glad I am here. Would recommend!

Over all this is a pretty good place, but it is costly. I am in assisted living and my wife is in memory care. I wish it did not not have forced air heating.

I think this place is wonderful! It has a lot of activities. People are wonderful! I am so happy to be here! There are so many activities and it would be great if more residents would participate. There are so many things to do to keep us occupied and spending time with others!! It offers so much without charge. Crafts, exercise, trips, entertainment. I enjoy it.

I have lived here for almost four months and absolutely love it! Everyone working here has been great. They always have a listening ear for whatever you need or don't quite understand. The facility is beautiful, the meals are very good. The chef is great and takes an interest in the needs of those he is cooking for! There are may activities to be involved with depending on your interests and needs. I look forward to enjoying New Perspective In the coming years and look forward to meeting more new residents. They will love it, too!

This facility was just beautiful! Our primary concern, however, was the price of the facility. We also found that the facility seemed a little empty, almost like a ghost town. In the end, we did not end up choosing this facility for my loved one for these reasons.

Everything is going great! The staff are sure to take care of my father and they make sure that he is comfortable. The facility is also very nice and clean. For the most part, we have no complaints about New Perspective!

The big dog is a loving and caring highly trained service animal providing me with security in my health care watching over my blood sugar's. I know for a fact the big dog gives a lot of joy to a number of residences at NP of Roseville as a trained therapy dog. I feel the alarmist that is having problems with Gus should of first talked to his handler in turn resolving any problems instead of involving Management and others at NP of Roseville and creating negative reviews and ideas about Gus. The building is a big circle with a patio/garden in the middle and room on the inside and outside of the circle. Well kept up in all respects. The place is very clean in the corridors and common areas. They repeatedly don't make the bed and the laundry doesn't get to the rooms and some laundry is temporarily or permanently lost. Be sure to label all clothes and bedding. Things have been taken from the room but if you complain they eventually seem to find them. At least 90% of the time the activities seem to happen, but not necessarily on-time. Great activities. The family must request each time if the person goes on activities off of the campus. The front door has a number lock so no one wanders out. They don't force people to go to activities, but most do and enjoy them. They are required to give medicine on time within a few hours of the time. I don't think this always happens, especially on weekends and evenings. in 2015 they had a problem with this, but it may be better now. It seems the quality of the staff has improved a little each year, but I still don't think there is quality oversight on evenings and weekends. The food is excellent. If the person won't eat any of the two quality choices, then they can get most anything else they want, if they wait. I've seen peanut butter sandwiches and hot dogs and hamburgers requested. You always get a beverage, meal, and dessert. Always excellent food. You must request ahead of the day if a guest wants to eat with the resident, for an extra charge which they add to your bill. They have a beauty salon. Residents play bingo and earn Bucks which they can personally use to buy chocolate, tissue, or other small items. Other than that, it is added to your bill. Each resident has a button around their neck that they can push for assistance, if they remember. They have a key to their room, which they can lock or not. Some rooms are labeled as having oxygen and no open flame. Room heating/cooling is excellent with a through the wall heater/air conditioner and a thermostat. The problem is that the staff come in and open / close windows and modify the temperature - and don't put the window or temperature back where it was. Your resident may freeze/over heat unless they call for assistance, which may arrive fast or much later depending on if management is on-site or not at the time, and what else they have to do. I don't think the residents get enough water/liquid, which can reduce their health. Water intake is not monitored at all. Glasses are half size typically due to their weight and not refilled unless requested. They will feed you in your room, or they hand feed some residents in the dining room. They have a doctor that comes on-site periodically and a pharmacy they typically use. I was not impressed with the end result of the doctor. I think the resident got much better care when I took them to their doctor. I don't see Aberdeen monitoring changes, noting changes, or notifying the family enough of changes. It is so much easier to help a resident if you know about things when they first happen, especially if it is a reduction in activities, amount of sleeping, or other changes that can indicate an underlying problem. Compared to other facilities, I would highly recommend this facility, but you MUST monitor your resident yourself. Come at odd times, each week, to really know what is happening. Frequently I note an issue that I am not happy with. If your resident isn't being taken care of, be aware that you can only complain to a certain extent. After that point, I would expect them to ask you to leave. They have a waiting list of people trying to get in that can take your resident's place. Since other facilities are not as good, you can only complain so much or do it yourself. If you want in, get on the list NOW. This is an expensive facility, my guess would be around $5000 per month for most. They base the cost on what amenities you need.

I thought Red Rock Senior Living was very nice when I toured. Everyone there was very friendly and the tour guide was knowledgeable. They answered all of my questions and the facility was very clean. I had a good experience touring.,
