New Perspective Senior Living

My dad is currently here and he is now in hospice. From the beginning we were treated with care and concern. It was our first experience with placing a loved one in specialty care and new perspectives north shore was a good decision. The caregivers are very sensitive to my dads needs. Hospice Care added extra care and I feel good about his placement. They really had a great plan and great expectations but God had other plans. What I liked about the staff they know I am not a medical profession but they still considered my opinion. It helped because they always offered hope even in the face of the inevitable. I don’t think any family could go wrong placing their loved one here at New Perspectives Morth Shore!

The staff here is wonderful! They work so hard and they are really nice and helpful. I have to give them a lot of credit. No complaints. Love the water therapy. I like the food. They do a great job. It is even getting better. I'm glad I came!

I'm happy with everything that people have done for me. I have signed up for all sorts of activities and they have a wheelchair lift on the bus for me! I have made a lot of friends here. I have had a lot of help from the staff here in getting settled and things figured out with my insurance and other things. So glad I am here. Would recommend!

Over all this is a pretty good place, but it is costly. I am in assisted living and my wife is in memory care. I wish it did not not have forced air heating.

I think this place is wonderful! It has a lot of activities. People are wonderful! I am so happy to be here! There are so many activities and it would be great if more residents would participate. There are so many things to do to keep us occupied and spending time with others!! It offers so much without charge. Crafts, exercise, trips, entertainment. I enjoy it.

Everything is going great! The staff are sure to take care of my father and they make sure that he is comfortable. The facility is also very nice and clean. For the most part, we have no complaints about New Perspective!

The building is a big circle with a patio/garden in the middle and room on the inside and outside of the circle. Well kept up in all respects. The place is very clean in the corridors and common areas. They repeatedly don't make the bed and the laundry doesn't get to the rooms and some laundry is temporarily or permanently lost. Be sure to label all clothes and bedding. Things have been taken from the room but if you complain they eventually seem to find them. At least 90% of the time the activities seem to happen, but not necessarily on-time. Great activities. The family must request each time if the person goes on activities off of the campus. The front door has a number lock so no one wanders out. They don't force people to go to activities, but most do and enjoy them. They are required to give medicine on time within a few hours of the time. I don't think this always happens, especially on weekends and evenings. in 2015 they had a problem with this, but it may be better now. It seems the quality of the staff has improved a little each year, but I still don't think there is quality oversight on evenings and weekends. The food is excellent. If the person won't eat any of the two quality choices, then they can get most anything else they want, if they wait. I've seen peanut butter sandwiches and hot dogs and hamburgers requested. You always get a beverage, meal, and dessert. Always excellent food. You must request ahead of the day if a guest wants to eat with the resident, for an extra charge which they add to your bill. They have a beauty salon. Residents play bingo and earn Bucks which they can personally use to buy chocolate, tissue, or other small items. Other than that, it is added to your bill. Each resident has a button around their neck that they can push for assistance, if they remember. They have a key to their room, which they can lock or not. Some rooms are labeled as having oxygen and no open flame. Room heating/cooling is excellent with a through the wall heater/air conditioner and a thermostat. The problem is that the staff come in and open / close windows and modify the temperature - and don't put the window or temperature back where it was. Your resident may freeze/over heat unless they call for assistance, which may arrive fast or much later depending on if management is on-site or not at the time, and what else they have to do. I don't think the residents get enough water/liquid, which can reduce their health. Water intake is not monitored at all. Glasses are half size typically due to their weight and not refilled unless requested. They will feed you in your room, or they hand feed some residents in the dining room. They have a doctor that comes on-site periodically and a pharmacy they typically use. I was not impressed with the end result of the doctor. I think the resident got much better care when I took them to their doctor. I don't see Aberdeen monitoring changes, noting changes, or notifying the family enough of changes. It is so much easier to help a resident if you know about things when they first happen, especially if it is a reduction in activities, amount of sleeping, or other changes that can indicate an underlying problem. Compared to other facilities, I would highly recommend this facility, but you MUST monitor your resident yourself. Come at odd times, each week, to really know what is happening. Frequently I note an issue that I am not happy with. If your resident isn't being taken care of, be aware that you can only complain to a certain extent. After that point, I would expect them to ask you to leave. They have a waiting list of people trying to get in that can take your resident's place. Since other facilities are not as good, you can only complain so much or do it yourself. If you want in, get on the list NOW. This is an expensive facility, my guess would be around $5000 per month for most. They base the cost on what amenities you need.

We like living at this community. The staff are helpful and answer our questions. The meals are good. The people are friendly. This community is only 3 years old and they have done a good job of maintaining it.

I really recommend this community! The staff is great and makes sure my mom eats and takes her meds. She is is doing well. SHe does have her good and bad days or times of the day, but that's expected. She is in the early stages of Alzheimer's. She does like to socialize. It would be nice if there some more activities for her stage of Alzheimer's. Other residents are content with watching TV or listening to music. My mom likes to have her newspaper to read each day. The full on Alzheimer's patients are in a different area, which helps. There are only 10 residents in her building which helps a lot. Her room is wonderful. My mom said it doesn't stink there, it smells good so she is happy about that. I would say to make sure you follow up and remind them to do some things sometimes, my mom needs some help with paperwork. It is more expensive than I anticipated, but it is memory care so I expected to pay a little more.

The administrative services are very helpful in helping to make the right decision on where to put a parent and how to do all the paperwork to get things in order. The ratio of staff to resident is better than most places. They have a nurse in-house for when things go wrong. All of the staff are friendly and helpful to residents and family of the residents. I would highly recommend Lighthouse of Mahtomedi. My mom has been there a couple of months now, the transition from house to resident care has been a very smooth one. I am very happy with the Lighthouse of Mahtomedi.

It was with a lot of support and help that getting dad moved from Florida to Wisconsin inn as short of time as we had. Start to finish we had every thing accomplished in six short weeks. Considering the holidays rapidly approaching the weather..... The staff was right on the ball every step of the way. Thanks so much!!

The staff at the Lighthouse did a fine job working with us to place Dad in his new home, the building is a warm and inviteing place and the staff is very freindly. We feel that we could not have found a better place

I got a good feeling the minute I walked into this community. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful. the tour went well and I really liked that the hallways had lots of windows to let the natural light in. there were 2 atriums so that the residents could walk out and get some fresh air too. Mom says the food is good and she can't wait to get into one of those atriums to plant something. This facility is clean, safe and fits into Mom's finances.

Our experience with Island Shores has been a very good one, Mom absolutely loves it here! It is a very nice looking, well kept community, and the staff and other residents are all very friendly. She recently had an extended hospital stay, and when she returned everyone was so welcoming and said they were so happy to see her back, which I know really meant a lot to her! Really the only "issue" we've had is that for a few weeks after she moved in they were almost TOO helpful! Mom was calling them to help with every little thing, which they did happily, but I let them I wanted them to encourage her to be a bit more independent, which they completely understood.

They really have been really good. It's very clean, and the staff has been really helpful and friendly as well. I think they were pretty reasonable for assisted living. They have been really great if we call or have a need. They have been a help with the insurance as well. The activities are one of the highlights of the place, they try to keep the residents really active. I haven't had any complaints about the food. I feel like it's been a really quality experience, it feels more like a home environment, rather than an assisted living, and they have a nice outside areas with patios and gardens.

My mother has lived here for over 2 years. My brother and I are both out of state, so we cannot handle issues on a daily basis and need to feel comfortable with the care she gets. Westlake Woods has definitely met (and exceeded) my expectations! The staff is very caring and go above and beyond ...as an example, during the holidays one staffer came in on her day off to decorate the doors of the residents who had not done so themselves. In addition to taking good care of Mom, they have helped make my life easier by purchasing supplies for her between my visits and arranging for routine healthcare services, including transportation and escorts. We had a less-than-satisfactory experience with another facility in Erie prior to finding WW...what a difference a good facility makes for both the resident and the family!

The facility is very new and beautiful. The tour was excellent. We thought the bedrooms were a little small and not much storage locker space. We like the fact that they offer independent living, assisted living, and nursing care, all in one location.

I am happy with Salida Woods. The staff and care are pleasant and helpful. The cleanliness is great, it's a one bedroom apartment. I would recommend Salida Woods to others who are currently searching for a place for their loved one.

It's alright . Price is a little high. The only way they could improve is if they lower their prices.

The staff is friendly, supportive, and always willing to help. The food is generally good, but it could benefit from a little more variety. At times, meals are not served as hot as they should be, which would improve the overall dining experience.
