With COVID they are a little short staffed, however the folks that work there are really good, and they do everything that they can. At first they were really strong with the activities, but at one point there were no activities. The rooms are a little dark and depressing.

I believe it is too expensive for what you get and the food is horrible. The food is sometimes too salty and no flavor, there is not much of a selection such as vegetables, and fresh fruit. The soups are cold, sometimes the food is even cold. My mother is paying $4400 a month and it is ludicrous. They could do other things such as pet therapy and my mother isn't a participating in bingo or any other activities very much. They do the laundry, but do not hang it up. This is assisted living and there are issues with balance and shoulders. They should hang the laundry up, instead of leaving it folded. My mother doesn't want to have wrinkled clothes. My mother complains about it every week. I have asked for this to be addressed numerous times.

My family member is in the memory care unit at Carolina Reserve. The staff is friendly, but it is easy to get "jaded" working with this population and some of the staff seem annoyed at times. The CNA's who dispense medications have a "round the clock" duty and are glued to their computer screens and administering medications; it would be lovely to have more staff. The CNA's do an excellent job. The best part of Carolina Reserve are the activity director(s) who are very friendly and engaging. I would love it if they had more of a variety of activities and MUSIC at all times in the lobby! Music changes depression in dementia and Alzheimer's patients. Overall, my family member's experience has been good...the number one complaint from him/her is boredom.

Both my parents are at Richland. We were able to keep them together and appropriately served despite differing diagnoses and needs. The care staff is responsive and kind. The administrative staff has turned over since we began this journey. Currently, there seems to be no activity director; the former director did a very good job of offering stimulating and interesting programs and projects. We miss her.

We were looking for a community for my wife, and she needed to move in quickly. Brookdale was a very nice community; however, they did not suit our particular needs. We would have had to furnish her room ourselves, as they had no furnished rooms available. Also, they did not have any single rooms available at the time, and we really wanted privacy for her. In order to get that, we would have had to pay for both beds in the room. Ultimately, we chose another community for our needs.

This community is very nice. The tour lasted about an hour maybe a little less. The staff took time to explain pricing and what they offered they asked about what my moms care level needs where they were interested in our circumstances and what we were looking for. The community itself was very nice and the staff we met were friendly and kind. The residents that we saw looked happy.

I had recently taken a tour of this community for my loved one and I have no complaints of how things had went. The staff where on time to our visit and made sure to answer any questions I had for them. I thought they had a nice floor plan and a lot of great packages that would meet the needs of different individuals. It was just not the right the location in the end decision for my mother but I would recommend it to anyone.

The community was bright and clean and the staff did a great job on my tour, they answered my questions and I enjoyed being shown around by them. They offer some nice amenities here and daily activities as well. I would definitely recommend that others come and have a look when they are looking for their loved ones.

We really liked this community as soon as you walked in the door it gave you a sense as you being in your own home. The staff was never nice and helpful answered all of our questions on the tour, in fact, the owner happened to be on the site that day and came out and took the time to talk to us which I thought that was great. The only thing my mom didn't like was there wasn't enough area to walk around in

This looked like a nice clean community when I visited. The people I met were nice. This is a secured community for memory care and my loved one was not ready for this type of community.

The staff have been helpful and I have good communication with them. He has started participating in some of the daily activities they offer. He seems to enjoy the meals. They have recently hired a new person to head up the kitchen. They keep his apartment and the community clean. They have resident meetings to help with any changes the residents feel need to be made. I would recommend taking a look into this community.

This was a nice community and the staff were friendly during our visit. This was however a larger community and we were looking for something with a more homey feel to it.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable at the Brookdale Chandler Place. The place was nice but the rooms they showed us were not quite as clean as the other communities we have seen. The place only offers 2 meals Monday through Friday and no meals on the weekends. That was a deal breaker for us.

There needs to be a “new residents “orientation may be there is one now but not 3.5 years ago when our relative moved in. A registered nurse needs to be at the facility Monday to Friday & some other RN or call weekends they need support & guidance, supervision our relative was able to keep up, know her needs but not all residents competent. There are too few staff members to assist residents, these are over worked & their pay is scant!! 3.5 stars improvement being made but still a way to go!

Very friendly and extremely helpful staff. Food is good. Good location near town. The rooms are good sized. Bathrooms are nice sized. Staff cleans regularly and it shows! First time experience with assisted living facility and my mother is doing well. Residents all seem happy and friendly.

My loved one has been at Chandler for several months and this is my observation. The residents are so very friendly and seem to care about one another. As far as the facility, first and foremost, I would like to see improvements in the food offered, especially the quality and variety. Too many starchy items, not enough simple vegetables or tossed green(not iceberg which has no food value) salads offered. With the amount of recipes circling the internet, surely the menu could be more diversified than it is. These seniors need less fat laden items on the menu and more truly healthy items offered. Their bodies have enough of a battle fighting growing older and illnesses and giving them nutrient depleted meals, doesn't help keep them healthy. The staff has a "menu chat" every week, but as far as I can tell, and from what I have been told, nothing has changed for the better. Also, I don't understand how this is supposed to be independent living and yet they assign you a time and table that you have to eat at. How is that "independent". Housekeeping services provided/included are hit or miss depending on your capabilities to have everything prepared for the staff: your linens out, trash bag out, everything off of the furniture(I can understand if you are a hoarder, it's a bit to ask,) but with minimal items, seems like it should be doable. Even if the tops of furniture have items on it, the rest of the furniture ie: legs, sides, drawer fronts, should be dusted or cleaned. We were told they would offer WiFi by the end of September, so far nothing has come of that. Overall, the staff is good. You don't get a real warm fuzzy feeling, but I do think they care about their residents. Lastly, we were just given notice that the cost of living there, will be going up by 5-1/2%...hard to swallow when you don't see improvements they these residents have been asking for since Brookdale took over. Sometimes bigger isn't better. Brookdale is a large corporation that has bought up many smaller senior living facilities. They need to work on compassion and putting the "warm and fuzzy" back into their facilities, so that our loved ones can enjoy their final days on this earth feeling well cared for and listened too.

Everything is going extremely well. It was a rough start but he is very happy there. No matter where you choose you should be there, to make sure things go right. It's very expensive, and they sort of nickle and dime you. They charge to deliver food to the room. There really isn't too much choice with the meals. They have all been very nice and friendly. We liked that they had different levels of care,

The residents are awesome. I don't regret the decision to go there. The management is going through changes so it is hectic. They seem to be trying. They do care. The food is not very good. I think once they get through the changes, everything will go more smoothly. My overall rating of this property is 3 1/2 stars. I rate the cleanliness 4 stars. I rate the friendliness 3 stars. I rate the value 3 stars. I rate the care services 3 stars. I rate the activities 4 stars.

When it comes to the day to day staff, and care, they are doing a good job. Though I think if a family member wasn't there to advocate, I don't know how much would actually get done. The administrative stuff is where the problem is. It took a good amount of time to get a schedule going for things like laundry and bathing. The administrative staff is difficult to get a hold of, or to get calls and emails returned. Six weeks of trying to get the billing straight and I am not sure that it's even straight now. They try to get them involved in activities, and my loved one enjoys the outings. We chose this community because we liked how small it was, and that the other residents were similar to her.

Overall a very nice place with a friendly staff. My mother has been there since April 2014 and generally has positive comments. Her negative comments focus solely on the food and food quality. She says it is very bland, repetitive, and that the staff will not respond to resident complaints.
