We had a virtual tour set up with Kerner Ridge - but they did not realize that. We had to wait around a while for someone to show up and give us the tour. It was just kind of unorganized. The facility itself was nice.

On reflection, it is far easier now to assess my personal experience with Carolina Reserve. Considering our dire circumstances and the urgency we faced in late June, 2022, CR stepped up and helped to facilitate and secure placement for our Mom. This was no small task as " Mom" who was suffering from advanced Dementia was not the most desirable candidate for any long term care facility. However, the Director of Sales/Marketing with whom our family got to know, took a personal interest in our plight. She felt that despite the challenge Mom might present, Carolina Reserve would be an appropriate fit. Although there were occasional missteps due to changes in staff and Covid outbreaks, the community kept residents and loved ones informed and updated reasonably well. The facility itself was going through renovations while Mom was there which was disruptive, but the end result was worth it. It is a well maintained and very attractive, intimate community and worthy of consideration.

I really liked Manning Place. It was too expensive.

I would recommend, the staff is good and always fix problems when we are having them. The community offers different activities, but my loved one enjoys doing the exercising. Their is a dining room for residents to eat in.

It's a clean, lovely and welcoming facility. Nice space and grounds. They've had a lot of turnover and staffing problems but it's improved since they got a director of clinical services. Now--although they've just lost their wonderful activities coordinator (so that a new problem)-- they seem to be working hard at making the place excellent.

I've not been happy with how clothing and such are handled. Mom is frequently in clothing that was "donated", and her clothing seems to disappear. I also don't believe she is getting up and moving around as much as she should be. While there are activities, they are not as frequent as we believed they would be (or as they were when she first moved in.)

I would recommend you look at the community and see if this would be the right fit for your loved one. The staff sends emails out to the family and they are accommodating to calls and questions from family as well. There is a full kitchen, washer and dryer in the apartment. There is weekly housekeeping included for the resident's rooms.

We picked this community, because it was better staffed, and cleaner. They need more staffing, especially at night. There is a major shortage of RN's everywhere we looked. We chose them for several reasons but since they specialized in Memory care only and not assisted living, that helped make our decision. Please let [name removed]know I really appreciated her help. This has been a very tough road for us.

I'm very happy with the care my mom is receiving at Cypress. The activities director is excellent! The actual facility is filthy however... the common areas are dirty, the carpets are old and dirty and should be replaced. There is a general lack of care to the facility, inside and out!

We picked this community because, we didn't have much of a choice. The whole system needs to improve. The elderly need more advocates. My words of advice to other families, looking to place their loved one at this community is; no matter how nice it looks, you still have to make sure your loved one is being taking care of and don't give up.

The people are very friendly. It's expensive, and is less value than what they charge. We picked this community, because of the close location and it was a newer faciltiy.

Overall it has been a peaceful place. Just like with any memory care unit or facility for your elderly, you have to be there to advocate for them. Some of the same things that occur at most memory care facilities - missing clothes, having to remind them to do certain things - also occur at colonial Gardens. But overall it has been a peaceful place for my dad, and he likes it there.

This facility is nice. Mom is happy here. The communication with the family is good. They keep me aware of anything that is going. They do housekeeping weekly and do a great job. Mom has no complaints about the food. They seem to be professional and know what they're doing. I appreciate everyone's concern for her here. They like mom and they look out for her. I would recommend them to family and friends.

I was very impressed with our tour at Brookdale Berkley Boulevard. [name removed] was great throughout the whole tour. The staff seemed more in-tune with the residents and what was going on. It is smaller and not as updated as a few others we saw, but I think we were looking at the wrong things. I almost wish now that we would have chosen this facility for my mom over the one she is at now.

We had a very good tour at Carolina Reserve of Durham. They were very kind and very receptive. They answered all of our questions. I thought it would be a good fit for my loved one. But after their nurse evaluated her, they felt she required too much care. Which came as a surprise. I don't think she seemed to require more assistance than the other residents I saw on the tour.

The staff at Brookdale Berkeley Boulevard were friendly. The facility was smaller though and seemed like it had fewer amenities.

Overall it has been a very good experience for us. The staff are receptive to hearing from the family about our feedback and are willing to work with the family to improve things for our loved one. The community is supposed to be able to accommodate dietary restrictions such as low salt, and chopped food. There are times that these accommodations aren't met, and there times the meals are received very late after requesting the items to eat. The meals could be more appetizing for the residents tastes.

The communication needs improvement.

Giving a 4 because it's expensive but all the facilities are very expensive.

The staff is super friendly. They take care of the residents.They try to make sure that, the residents are happy. It's a loving community. The residents seem to be happy, and my oved one loves it there.
