Don’t send your family here
just say NO. They have gone through more cooks tha. I can count and the food is still bad. They loose all the good caretakers because they are treated bad. Don’t try to fine the management at lunch time because they are all out for a smoke break. Poor management

If You Love Your Parent, DO NOT Put Them in MorningStar.
Had my mother here for 6 weeks in Memory Care. Beautiful facility, but forget about proper care and services. Promised service rarely delivered. What you get is an extremely high priced apartment, mediocre food, careless cleaning services (housekeeping and laundry) and medicinal services that are not to be counted on. Care staff not properly trained. Express concerns to upper management, and they blow you off. Even concerns expressed by our medical provider - given directly to care management - were ignored. MorningStar is ALL about the $$$. This review given after having my mother in two MorningStar properties a total of 1-1/2 years. This review is NOT sour grapes. It is given after MS given several opportunities to improve care and services. If you want the best care for your parent, go to Balfour.

Horrible experience. Understaffed the entire time our parent was a resident ( about 10 months). We were forced to hire an outside caregiver on a part-time basis to ensure that our parent received the daily medications, other ADL assistance (That we were paying Regency for BTW). Our family doctor was very familiar with the facility and recommended that we move out as the care was not up to par. In addition, after we moved out I learned a friend of the family had been hired by Regency. She complained often about the under staffing situation and finally quit to go to a better managed facility. CHECK with the California Dept of Health Care Services to see what complaints have been filed. You need to go to their office to do this but the information gained is invaluable.

Avoid.
The management and care at this facility has taken a huge nosedive since the beginning of 2015. It has gone from a place where we would highly recommend to anyone, to one that we would highly caution. It became apparent that the high staff turnover and the profit motivation were detrimental to our parents' health and well-being. There are a number of new facilities in the area that have come on line, or are about to, that offer much better care and value. This facility is quite attractive, but the care is not.

Tragedy at Morningstar
Our family placed our mom at Morningstar of Idaho Falls this Spring of 2014. She was able to walk outside with her walker on two seperate occasions from assisted living. Because of this they had placed her in memory care where we were told she would be "safe" in a locked down facility. Three weeks later she somehow "got out" of the facility and was found by her son-in-law nearly two hours after she was reported missing. She was face down in a field and was found to have burns on her backside with blistering. She later died from her injuries. Be careful where you place your loved ones. Our mom had one of her children with her everyday. This happened on the hours she was alone.
