Toured Morning Star on So. Kipling. Liked the layout of the facility, but noted some of the residents just sitting alone and not interacting. Staff seemed helpful and kept area clean. May want to do a follow-up visit to assess further.

The size of the community is great, and I like that. The staff gets to know the family. It is easy to talk to the staff about questions or concerns; however, it doesn't always result in action. It is a very pleasant place to have a loved one. The care could be improved upon with hygiene assistance and housekeeping of the rooms for the residents. There have been some staff turnover recently, and the community is trying to hire more staff to assist in doing the right things for the residents and the community.

Our family had an in person tour and MorningStar being newer is a very nice and pretty community with plenty of good amenities. However, at the time of our tour they had a huge plumbing issue, there was a vent clogged and immediately there was just a big fowl odor.

The biggest thing to me is the staffing ratio of caregivers to residents. They're short on staff most of the time. I know they have resident vacancies, but they still need more appropriate staffing levels to care for the residents who are there. Also, they don't have a nurse there working every day, only five days a week, which concerns me a little bit.

We chose MorningStar Memory Care at Bear Creek because they were the closest to where I lived and they came with a high rating. They were very good with communication, they had a newsletter to keep families updated and were responsive and always tried to keep us connected with my loved one. I thought they were way overwhelmed with our needs and they did not keep very good control of laundry, some things were missing. Overall, I would recommend to others looking.

Our staff has been relentless in keeping us safe and healthy during this Covid crisis. They have been amazing, all the while maintaining our community.

The office staff is very helpful and very nice. The care giving staff is not that good. Some of the staff do not speak English. It is hard for my mom to communicate with them.My mom is not happy with the food, and the staff is not offering her the other options if she can not eat the main offering. They have a nice courtyard. They have good activities, cards, games, and puzzles. The caregivers are not always wearing the masks when they come to her room she has to ask them to put one on. My mom has asked for a shower chair or to help since the seat they have is not working for her and they have not been helpful. They have done a good job with the Covid virus. They are a newer property so maybe theses are growing pains

We had toured this community and it was very nice. However, the property was not as close to moms doctors offices and the hospital that we would have liked. The price was out of our budget range. However, the community was very clean and well kept and the staff seemed to be friendly and kind.

Clean facility (odor free) except the smell of good food being prepared by Chef [Removed]. The staff is friendly and appears to enjoy what they do. Residents report they are happy and can be found participating in activities and smiling.

When I came to tour the facility, I arrived and nobody was at the main desk to greet me or check in. I checked myself in got my sticker and sat down to wait for my appointment. I attempted to approach the 3 employees talking. The 2 men having the conversation saw me, made eye contact, but continued the conversation. I felt ignored and unimportant. Many people came in and were in the lobby, about 7. People were just standing around, no acknowledgment. I finally decided to text the person I had an appointment with and told him I was there. I waited about 12 minutes or so. Appreciated meeting all the office staff as they took the time to have in depth conversation. I liked the jack and jill style 2 bedroom. I was once told the customer should be the most important person in the room. If I wasn't acknowledged, cared for, greeted with warm welcome, how would they take care of my Mom with integrity? Other staff was kind.

Some of the staff is wonderful, some just average. We requested certain hygiene/care duties, such as help with hearing aid removal and application, and although the staff appear very concerned, we don't see results. Hearing aids are often not charged, or not in her ears at all, or in the charger backwards so not charging. But we like the apartment size, and the activities. Sometimes the trash is emptied daily, sometimes not. Sometimes the laundry is done, sometimes not. Sometimes she has help showering on shower days, but most times not. Overall it is nice and adequate, just not the excellent service we were led to believe it would be. But she has made friends and has things to do, so it is pretty good.

When it comes the food it is hard to accommodate food allergies and hard to get reassessments with the administration. Overall they were much different than they portrayed themselves in our interviews. I was very disappointed. Most staff were great. Those in charge -- not so much. I removed my husband and brought him home.

Chronic turnover in staff and management makes for inconsistent care, service requests are not kept and attitudes are patronizing. Sometimes my loved one's room is clean, sometimes it is a pigsty. Food quality and service is hit or miss. Menu items are often not available. Can't get consistent billing statements or medical records. Emails are rarely answered. There are a few staff that are great and try to give the residents a good experience. The building is newish but is starting to have maintenance issues that are not immediately addressed. I'm concerned the company has budget issues.

I’d give this place an overall mixed review. Some areas are improving, while others still need attention. The administrative team at the front desk has been consistently excellent—friendly, helpful, and responsive. Unfortunately, the general staff experience hasn’t been as strong, and there’s definitely room for improvement there. Dining has been a challenge over the past year. There have been multiple chef changes, which impacted consistency and quality. Recently, things have started to improve with more stable staffing and better access to hot meals, but it’s still a work in progress. Activities and outings are a highlight when transportation is available. When vehicles are running properly, residents can attend medical appointments and enjoy trips to restaurants, grocery stores, concerts, and even the zoo. During bad weather, there are still solid on-site options like arts and crafts, movies, salon services, and social events like “Thirsty Thursdays” with drinks and snacks. One downside has been the rent increase—over 6% this past January—which can be difficult, especially when adjusting from a much larger home to a smaller living space. On the positive side, the apartments themselves have some nice features. Mine includes a second balcony with beautiful morning sun, which I really enjoy. Overall, it’s a place with potential and some great amenities, but consistency in staffing and services still needs improvement.

I would suggest families would think long and hard about placing a loved one in a home, unless the person has become a risk, ie falling, etc. I found in the 10 months my Mom was there she didn't do anything to help herself get "better" ,and the staff could not force her.

The food is amazing. The cleanliness of the facility is amazing. It's a beautiful facility. The staff is very friendly. However, getting everything set app like the medications and just a lot of things didn't go as smoothly. As I would have liked, the turn over there is ridiculous. You get a relationship with somebody and then they're gone other than that. It's a good place. Overall, it's a good place which is just a few things they need to work on.

I like that it is close to my house. They could improve on innumerable things - I have many frustrations. I just don't know that I would find better care that is reasonably affordable.

Thought it was the one and she would want to stay there but apparently not
