Merrill Gardens

I really liked Truewood by Merrill, it was my second choice. They gave a great tour and the staff were friendly. I also liked the size of the rooms in memory care and it was less expensive than some others we looked into. The down-side for us was that it had assisted living AND memory care and we wanted a place that specialized in only memory care. The location also took a long time for us to get to.

My overall experience with my loved one being here was a good one. I feel like my loved one got really good care. He was in the memory care unit and it was not the same socialization as everywhere else in the community but the people still looked pleasant and it seemed to be a nice atmosphere. It is a great place that I have recommended to a few people. This is a great value and a good location for the community to be with a lot of restaurants and more around for the residents to do.

We really liked the community; however, the room was smaller than we wanted. They also didn't have activities to assist the memory care residents.

It's a nice and it's clean and safe. The meals have a variety of foods. They offer some activities but they are all sedentary. The exercise class is offered at 10 am once a day.

We would recommend this community to other families

Mistywood has been great so far. There have been a few issues at the moment with the change of ownership, including the food. My loved one tell me often how much the food quality has gone down. But the place itself is great. The people are terrific. And overall she's happy there.

Merrill Gardens is very short staffed and they make excuses that they're short staffed. we're paying full price, so unless they'd like to discount us for the lack of staff, they shouldn't make excuses. the cleaning wasn't done correctly in my loved ones room. it's still a good place with good residents. it's a good place for my mom. we're happy she's there, but every place needs improvement.

It is a lovely place, and it's well run. Aesthetically it's very pretty to look at. Everything is updated and looks news. The staff is very caring and involved. There could always be more attention paid to the residents, particularly those with more needs. My biggest thing looking back is if I could do it again, I would look for a place that accepts Medicaid so I wouldn't have to move my loved one eventually. She has experienced both assisted living and memory care, and there are a couple of differences. The food in assisted living is like a restaurant with different choices offered, and in memory care they don't offer choices. Activities are different as well. They were great in assisted living and are fewer in memory care. But overall we like it. There's a great community atmosphere.

We went with Truewood by Merrill because of the pricing and the individual care in sense of community. The quality of the food is good and she really likes it, however my family member has a restricted sodium diet and sometimes there is more salt in the food than there should be. The activities are great but my family member has vision problems so that is not a lot that is engaging for her. A lot of the staff members have been here a long time and that really makes an impact. I would recommend them to others looking.

This is a beautiful community with caring staff and good food. The could maybe do a little more to get my mom to be involved in the activities and prompt her to come out and participate more. They have activities like movies, bingo, coffee chats and more for the residents to do to stay busy. Overall it has been a very good choice I would recommend it.

Our family had an in person tour and this would have been our second choice, it just came done to cost.

They had a mix-up with regard to scheduling our tour appointment. No one was there to help us, so we had to reschedule, which was difficult juggling our schedules. The tour was fine when we were able to make it happen. They just didn't make the best first impression.

Our family had an in person tour and we liked Merrill Gardens, but the reason we decided against it was because of the busy atmosphere, we thought it would be a little to overwhelming

My mom has been complaining about the food and food service. I was at the facility today and there was only one server for the dining room. I don’t know if you have supply issues, but she prefers orange juice with her breakfast but was told you were out. She also said the food quality has gone down.

I think it's very good as an overall place to be. Compared to other places I visited, It's right in the middle as far as being updated, meals, and activities. The affordability is still there based on all the updates. The staff have been very good. My loved one can be a tough egg, and they've actually been able to get him to go do some activities, which I didn't think would happen.

Standiford Place is a great facility. We chose them because of the value for the money and they were the best out of all of the ones that we looked into. My father in law loves the food served. His apartment size is very comfortable for what he needs. I would recommend them to others looking.

My loved ones really like it there. The food especially is so much better than the place they were at previously. They are slowly getting into participating in the activities. Our one huge complaint is the internet service. Merrill Gardens includes basic internet in their monthly fee, and still, two months after moving in, my loved ones are still struggling to get internet. They were finally told that their apartment had never been set up for internet, and also that the people that lived in the apartment before them had not disconnected their service. I'm not sure how both of those could be true at the same time. Either way, the internet provider finally came in and set up the apartment. But now the signal is so low that most of the time they cannot get through to the internet, which is really stressing my loved ones out. They're getting very little help from Merrill Gardens. And I personally feel like it is a Merrill Gardens problem. We are not the only ones with complaints about the weak internet connection. We can't even get services like Google Home set up because the signal is so weak. But other than the internet, my loved ones are very happy there.

Our family had a partial virtual tour and in person tour so it was a little odd. We met with the staff in person but then virtual toured the community. We were able to see the rooms, but the community overall just seemed a little to dark.

In spite of lack of employees the staff bends over backwards to make us comfortable and with a big smile on their faces.
