Merrill Gardens

The staff was amazing. Sometimes they sent me photos of her or helped her with her iPhone so she could FaceTime and see me and talk to me. When she went on hospice they were all advising me on what I needed to do and what extras to request for my moms comfort. This was my first time having to go thru this and they were all a big help. The GM was excellent and always made sure my concerns were addressed immediately but having to pay that much money, I expect the room the be cleaned right the first time. As for the food, my mom did not like it. While she was there there had been issues with cooks being out sick or on leave etc. hopefully they have found someone who is committed and good.

We toured Merrill Gardens at Carolina Park during our search for an Independent Living facility for our loved one. This facility was nice. It was clean and everyone was friendly. The food was good, also. However, they didn't have an indoor pool like we were hoping for.

I chose this facility because it had good ratings, the staff was friendly, there was a room available near the dining room, and there seemed to be many activities. My mother is not as involved as I thought she would be. Another thing that influenced my choice of True wood is that is that they were running a special of a nominal community fee. We had tried two other facilities in the previous 6-8 months and had had to pay two community fees. I have to stay on top of them to do everything for my mother that they are supposed to do. Several times they have failed to do her laundry on the assigned day. When I discover the pile of laundry and point it out, a staff member does it right away. Staff is supposed to make sure she is wearing her hearing aids every morning. That doesn't always happen. Senior leadership does always immediately address my concerns when I speak to them. I think the meal quality could be better.

It's a great place for your parents to live. They have been excellent with getting things repaired that broke. An area for improvement is the billing for rent. My parents have been overcharged and are still currently trying to get that worked out.

Our only hesitation with Merrill Gardens at Barkley Place is the dining room - it is under staffed so therefore it leads to some long wait times for a table and/or meals. However what we like most about this community is the security, the brightness, the morning check-ins and the roominess.

It is in a 'hot ' area of Downtown...The Bull Street District. The biggest complaint is about the food being cold and/or too fancy .... everyone complains. But on the plus side the menu offers many options and one can eat anytime from 11 to 7. Continental breakfast in the morning. Washer and dryer in room, 2 burner stove and microwave. Staff is very patient and kind, listening to residents ask the same questions over and over. Studio through 2 bedroom available. Rent goes up every year. Free cleaning once a week but very 'light'. Utilities and meals included in rent as well as transportation to Dr. Appointments. Good security. Nicer than any other places I've seen.

My mother is currently a resident at Merrill Gardens at Renton Centre. Overall, our experience with this facility has been good. The cleanliness of the facility and the friendliness are great. The housekeeping is good. The communication with the family is good. The meals are also good and pretty good quality. The staff is good. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

The staff at Truewood by Merrill Boise are phenomenal, very patient, kind and caring. The facility is very clean and inviting. They always call if something untoward happens, and when you visit, the coordinators update regularly. The meals are good. I would absolutely recommend the facility and staff. In the past 11 months, our parent have transitioned from Independent Living, to mom in Memory Care, and dad on Hospice in an apartment to his death. It has been a good experience.

The areas we think they could improve on would be to perhaps explain to the family and patient, what is the criteria for no longer being able to care for a resident? That way the resident might attempt more control over his environment.

We toured Merrill Gardens at Rolling Hills Estates when searching for a Memory Care facility for our loved one. The tour the the facility were very nice. However, they did not have as many amenities as the other facility that we were considering. The atmosphere, cleanliness, and friendliness were all great.

Check it out carefully and ask a lot of questions to the people already living there. [name removed] has been amazing and very accommodating. I can only say great things about [name removed]

Currently the community is on a COVID lockdown. The community is delivering meals to the resident's rooms. They are giving COVID tests if the residents need them. The staff truly care about the us. Our chef currently is phenomenal. The presentation of food is fabulous, and the taste is good. The residents are able to order or make requests to the meals to assist with dietary needs. There are activities available all day long. There bean bag baseball, any of the residents are able to join. This is great to assist with socialization. There is a weekly activity of red, white, and blue. Plus we honor our veteran's each day. There are trips such as to the casino, shopping, and more. There is music weekly. There is art activities as well. There is a bus for transportation. The activities director is very skillful, and I feel she should get an award for all the activities she plans. The community has an ambassador program for tenured residents to assist in welcoming new residents into the community.

The staff at Merrill Gardens at West Chester is really nice and I know they take great care of my mom. Although we continue to have some issues with her cable, the staff communicates effectively- it's the cable company, not Merrill. My mom tells me that the food is really good. I would definitely recommend Merrill at West Chester to family and friends!

My friend had to wait for room cleaning before moving in to her room because "the housekeeper was on vacation"..... That seemed to indicate that they did not have enough or did not manage well the duties of cleaning staff.

Everything started off great but as my loved one's health declined I had the impression they didn't want him any more and actively took steps to have him placed somewhere else. I did a phone interview with six different communities but we were in a rush and ultimately chose Merrill Gardens due to the proximity to my home. The majority of the staff are wonderful and want the best for the community members.

Merrill Gardens at Kirkland is a good place overall, per all the above ratings I gave. I like that it's located in a nice, beautiful, walkable town!

Overall, my family and loved one had a good experience at Truewood by Merrill First Hill. As care levels go up there are additional charges. The staff is amazing and friendly to work with. The dining room is nice and staff in the dining room are great! The food could use some improvement.

Chose Truewood over a more expensive option that my mom could have afforded. Mom has dementia but still able to live in assisted living. When we visited, she immediately was on her game and interacting with staff she met on our tour. At a larger, more luxury community she immediately shut down. Since moving in to Truewood she has been well cared for by assistance staff as well as all the general staff that seem invested in helping residents with whatever struggles may have come up that day. Very happy having mom at Truewood.

The people are the best part. Mom moved in the last weekend in January and tells everyone she knows that she has never had a bad experience at Truewood. She loves everyone there: genuinely kind & friendly employees who are always ready to lend a hand (or a hug or an ear) when needed. And they always just seem to know when its needed. The only negative comment Mom has made has been about the food. She likes very little of it. However we would absolutely recommend Truewood by Merrill, New Bern community to other families and in fact we already have as well as A Place For Mom. [name removed] was awesome!!

Truewood by Merrill (First Hill) is a small community so residents are able to see familiar faces regularly. The staff are caring and knowledgeable about how my mother-in-law is doing, when asked. The food is sometimes NOT great, but this is over come by the other positive factors.
