Merrill Gardens

My 95 years young mother was at a very fancy place in San Diego and not enjoying the experience at all based on fellow residents and lack of "warmness" of the facility. I am familiar with Merrill Gardens and thought this might be a more suitable community. Within two days of relocating, my momma had joined an exercise group and started walking all around the beautifully landscaped property. She noticed immediately the warmth and reception of fellow residents and friendliness and care of the staff from caregivers to dining room staff. Mom says "The Gardens feels like Home". I would say that pretty well sums it up! I am so very pleased with this community

I think overall, just based on my experience looking at other facilities, it's what you get for that amount of money. It's really high but it's around the same as the others we looked at. They do have activities. My mother is still trying to adjust so she's kind of complaining but they definitely have activities if you look for them. They have movement classes. They have Wii. they have bridge and outings - I think they do really well.

I am the Power of Attorney for my cousin who is a resident of California and I reside in the state of Virginia. Bay Park staff has assisted me in placing my cousin in their facility with a true sense of compassion and care. Their professionalism surpassed my expectation and I shall never forget their assistance.

I like the facility there. I liked everything about it. We were put on a waiting list but it never happened and it got to a point where we needed to expedite finding a place for my mother.

My mom is very happy there. You always would like it be less costly and apparently it does go up every year. I did look around pretty hard and there are more expensive places but there is a snob factor at those places. My mom is independent but it does appear that they're very good at providing whatevery the do provide. It's not a nursing home so apparently they don't accept anybody with lots of medical issues. There is covered parking which is a real plus for my mom who does have a car still. She's in a large studio and architecturally, it's just the cutest thing. We feel very fortunate and blessed.

I am sorry to say that most people could not afford Sheldon Park. My sister can at this point and that's wonderful, but what about all the other people? I don't like to see them catering to just the wealthy people. They are very willing to help in anyway. Dorian, the director, goes above and beyond helping and she does it with compassion. She gave us answers that we needed so badly. I thank her so much! My sister isn't able to participate but boy do that have a calender of actvities! And a calender for the memory care which is nice to see. Everybody seems happy to be involved.

This is living! The place is only two years old and very well designed. Residents were engaged and seemed friendly and happy. I myself would want to live here when the time comes. But, of course, that is why there is a very long wait list.

This is a more open style community that allows residents to move about. They do have a waiting list for the bigger apartments. The community is very nice and well maintained. Overall it is a great community we just needed a higher level of care but would recommend Willow Park to anyone.

I visited them today and I liked the facility.

This was a very nice independent living facility. Management (Greg) was very nice and informative. This would be a good choice if my dad was a little more independent. Price is good for all the amenities. Still would require medication management & laundry services. This felt very homey and comfortable.

Love it here, its beautiful, very friendly. Also was more than happy they have swimming pool & a travel program that lets you stay without charge at one of their facilities free including food.

Three delicious chef-prepared meals served daily; Weekly housekeeping and linen service; Numerous planned activities

We really liked this facility. very clean and they have staff that speaks spanish which will be a better fit for our mom.

This place is awesome. The apts are nice size, full kitchen. The place is clean and very well kept.people are nice, lots of activities. This is the best place so far. I can see my parents being very comfortable there. I wish it were closer to my house but it would be worth the 50 minute drive to me to have my parents in such a nice place. Also, it is affordable. They offer lots of transportation for shopping, doctors, etc. doctors are close by which is also nice. Everything was perfect about it.

The Director was helpful with information but didn't seem like she was really "selling" the place. Everything was spacious and the layout was simple. All common areas on one floor. No confusing floor plans and hallways. The rooms were very spacious, stacker w/d in 1brm units. Transportaion is provided to residents for Sunday services. Meds can be set up by us and mom take them on her own. Walk in showers in 1 bdrm; glass doors on studio shower. 4brnr stoves in studio and bdrm.levels of care in 30 pt increments;heat is run by heat pump;meals served all day between 7am/7pm; concierge can run mom somewhere for min cost; there is a button to push every AM for residents to "check in"

When the time comes this is our number 1 choice

Staff member welcomed us and immediately offered us a tour. We were impressed with the surroundings and the flexibility of the room charges, but are wondering if having only one elevator would be somewhat dangerous.
