Merrill Gardens

Friendly staff and a well maintained facility. My Mom, who requires full services, appears to be receiving good care. My wife and I visit five times a week so this review is more than just a casual observation.

My family member is doing well at Merrill Gardens, Santa Maria. The entire building is immaculate. The food services are great. Great effort is made to provide stimulating and enjoyable activities. The grounds are lovely...quiet, secure, and beautiful with numerous places to sit out in the fresh air. There is a pool; aquatic exercise is offered. There are two libraries, and there is computer access for those who do not have a personal computer. Every effort is made to create and upbeat and welcoming environment. It is not inexpensive, but the cost is less than half the cost of any facility in Santa Barbara or Santa Ynez. Fresh coffee, warm cookies, and bags of freshly popped popcorn are waiting in the lobbies all day!

My mother in law, age 96 has been there since [date removed], after some initial adjustments it has become her new home. Her care is exceptional very caring and attentive. Warm and inviting. [Name removed] was very knowledgeable about challenges seniors face and what the progression of dementia looks like and how to successfully go about transitioning our family member out of their home situation. Comfortable with medical staffing, liked the Bridges program for engaging assisted living residents with memory care group. Restaurant menu, lots of activites. Centrally located for us. Nice patio area, library and theater room.

Gorgeous place, a little more than we could afford

The Experience from very first day has been Great! I really hesitated at first but it was the best decision.

My 89 year old Mom has been living at the Legacy at Bear Creek since April of this year and she loves it and so do we! I visited 12 different facilities to find just the right place to meet my Mom's needs. Legacy was my last stop on this journey and when I met with [name removed] on my first visit, his enthusiasm and personal care sealed the deal. I invited my husband on a second visit and if [name removed] was an accurate representation of the spirit of the rest of the staff, then we have found Mom's home. Six months later, we have not been disappointed. The entire staff from care givers, nursing team, and leadership [names removed] are phenomenal. They love on Mom every day. [Name removed] even brings his dog to see my mom to brighten up her day. I LOVE this place because of the caring people. Meet with [name removed] before you make a final decision for your loved one's next home.

My life at Merrill Gardens has been very pleasant. There are more than enough activities to keep me busy, the food is fantastic with many options and the freedom to eat when I wish. All this and the independence to choise what and where I wish to be involved. My dog is in heaven as there so many people who love to pat and both of us take advantage of chearful and bright public spaces. Thank you for providing us with a safe place to live an independent and and active life.

I liked the size of the rooms better, but we get rain a lot in NC and you have to go outside to get to the dinning hall, and to participate in any activities, also the community was open to anyone who drove in, could potentially pick up a resident.

Beautiful, clean, residents appear happy, engaged. Facility is brand new, well-lit, rails in halls, safety bars in bathrooms. Bathrooms large. Nice storage. Staff happy, receptive.

What a wonderful place. It is so beautiful and has so many activities available. 2 things that give me pause are the monthly costs and the fact that the living area in the apartments is small. The contact person was very nice and so helpful. The most unusual thing is an indoor observation deck overlooking the airport. How cool is that !!!

The elite of all the independent facilities we have toured. Living room is very, very small. Washer and dryer are a plus as are the two walk-in closets. The cost is out of our desired range.

[name removed] greeted me very well and answered all my questions and queries. The Pines is beautiful and well kept and residents were all around enjoying different activities.

Clean, welcoming, happy residents, very accommodating staff. Price difference between a studio and 1 bedroom seems disproportionate.

We moved my 97 year old Dad into Sheldon Park from his independent living situation at Willamette Oaks after a fall. We wanted to maintain as much of the environment he had at Willamette Oaks as possible. We have been nothing but pleased with every aspect of his care. A move-in coordinator was assigned to us and stayed with us for the first few weeks until Dad felt comfortable with how things were going. He has a very nice garden apartment that he enjoys very much. Dad has all of his mental faculties so it was important that people treat him as such and that has been the case. The medical staff and caregivers have all been wonderful and he has liked everyone who has come to assist him. You can always give feedback anytime that is listened to and acted upon and the regularly scheduled care conferences pick up any changes that might need to be made that may have been overlooked. Moving to assisted living is a very hard decision to make and the transition can be very stressful. That’s why we did our research on the options available in Eugene. Our choice of Sheldon Park was a good one and I would very comfortably recommend them for your loved one.

Absolutely loved my tour. Had the pleasure of meeting with the leader of the resident welcome committee. She is a resident herself and really made me feel comfortable with the possibility of bringing my mother. “Friendly, professional caring staff that treat the residents with dignity” were her words. The community manager I met with was very knowledgeable and made me feel confident in the level of care my mother would receive. Top rated doctors are on call and visit weekly. Legacy is a fixture in the community. I love how they host events that bring the Keller community together to further engage residents with the world. Only down side - they are on the high end of the payment scale. If we can figure out how to make the numbers work, I will certainly bring my mother for a visit.

This is a beautiful facility. The staff went out of their way to make my daughter-in-law and me feel at home. The rooms are open and airy and the total facility is very inviting. The residents we met while on our tour were very friendly. This is definitely a place I will consider when making the move from my home to a senior living facility.

Mom has been at Sheldon Park in memory care for three years and we continue to be impressed by the staff and facility. The staff are caring and great with mom. I would highly recommend Sheldon Park.
