Merrill Gardens

When I could no longer keep my husband safe at home, I contacted a Place for Mom. They arranged some tours for me and I decided on the Memory Care Unit at Truewood Charlotte Center. The administration is knowledgeable about dementia and is empathetic and easy to talk to. The caregivers are friendly and caring towards the residents. No one is perfect, but they are patient with the residents and have helped my husband adjust to a difficult situation. And they help me every time I visit.

The atmosphere was comfortable. Lots of activities. Great people there. Good place for my dad to stay. I would recommend it to others. My dad wasn't very happy when he found out he was moving to an independent living facility but it only took a bit of time for him to enjoy it there and make friends. After almost 3 years he is an ambassador and shows new residents around, has many friends (and has a girlfriend), does many activities and outings, and is thriving there. I am so happy I chose Merrill! I especially like how they handle hurricane weather. They are very prepared, stock up with food/water and employees will even stay overnight with the residents if needed. They also text regular updates with how things are going like power outages and such. Highly recommend this facility for loved ones.

When our family faced that my dad needed a level of care that was not possible for us to deliver at home, I began to search, and research, in earnest. I toured, interviewed, compared, read reviews and endless articles, sought out others who had walked this journey before me. I felt very lost, very alone. Nothing was clicking for me. Then I showed up for my appointment at Merrill Gardens, a day early! I was so stressed out, I had confused the day. No matter, the staff was unruffled, professional, warm, caring and supportive. I felt, for the first time in two weeks, that maybe it was going to be alright. Maybe I could trust someone to take care of my dad. I chose MG and it has been such a positive experience, for my dad and for all of my family. The quality of the care staff and support staff is the key, as well as top notch facilities, & excellent management that truly know what they are doing. Communication and community are their touchstones. I recommend M Gardens highly.

We only toured 3 or 4 facilities and all most were lovely but Merrill Gardens had a vibrancy that wasn't present at the other facilities. I think my mom would have enjoyed living with these people. Unfortunately my mom passed away before she could move in.

I would recommend. You all took good care of my dad. I know he was comfortable when he was there.

The office staff is very helpful but if you try to talk with a nurse or someone medical they will not call you back. I have many unanswered questions regarding my mother's medications and overall well being. She was recently sent to the hospital for a fall and diagnosed with dehydration. Why did they let this happen? I guess you get what you pay for as I'm told this is a cheaper place.

My grandmother has been living at the pines for just over a month, and she has settled in well. The Pines feels like home with it's cozy atmosphere. My grandmother has a private room which is spacious and updated. She also has her own bathroom. My grandmother has dementia, and she is well cared for at the pines. The staff are all pleasant and helpful. They ensure she makes it to all of her meals. The facility is a nice size, with just over 50 residents. The design of the building is a connected loop, so residents can't get lost. My grandmother is doing very well at the Pines of Newmarket.

I really can't say enough about Turner's Rock. Initially my parents were in the assisted living section and after my mother passed away my dad had to move to the independent living side. The staff made sure that the transition was made as easy as possible and we so appreciated that. My dad is very happy there and we are so glad they made the decision to make it their home. I am not sure we would have considered Turners Rock as an option with your organisation's recommendations and I want to thank you for that.

Seriously, OUTSTANDING. When mom was living alone she barely took care of herself. My brother was 45 minutes away and I was 1 hour away. He visited one weekend and I visited the other and back and forth. Now mom has people checking in on her every hour, making sure she takes her meds, eats 3 meals a day, gets her bathed and so on and so on. Jokingly, if I had 10 hands, Merrill Gardens would get 10 thumbs up. Mom is now only 8-10 minutes away from me and I visit at least 3 times a week. I see first hand how well she is being taken care of. I like the on site Dr's office and physical therapy available to the residents. Highly and I mean HIGHLY recommend Merrill Gardens to anyone.

My wife and I have owned nice homes for 54 years of married life and never considered a change in our living situation until my wife was diagnose with dementia which quickly advanced to late-stage dementia. I did not want to place her in memory care, but felt I could not provide the support and care she deserved. After looking at many options I felt Mission Ridge would best fit her needs and I could be in an independent living apartment near her. We felt better about our decision to leave our lovely home in Eugene, OR after seeing the positive environment offered at Mission Ridge. Since our move here, I have been most impressed with the cleanliness, positive staff at all levels, personable general manager, and excellent food. My expectations have been exceeded at all levels. Although my wife and I have only been here for a short time, I am most happy we decided to move to the Springfield Mission Ridge.

Truewood is in a great location with ample parking. We like the cleanliness, and that it is well organized. The location is accommodating for visits.

My friend chose this community because she liked the style and location. And just the overall feel of being there. It doesn't feel like an "old folks home." (Her words) She is doing great and enjoying her life at Turners Rock.

Merrill Gardens has been more than we could have ever imagined for my mom's new forever home . My mother didn’t want to sell her home and move from California , but she had given up her drivers license a couple of years ago , her circle of friends , due do their age was growing smaller and all of her children lived in Washington now . I secretly met with [name removed] on multiple occasions, expressing my concerns with telling my mom about Merrill gardens . I had toured four other homes and kept coming back . [name removed] was patience and kind , even offering his phone number should I have any questions . Once I finally took my mom on her first tour , my third she surprised me and signed a lease that same day! She’s been there about six weeks and is loving meeting new people , has access to transportation for events , doctors appointments, church , shopping and so much more . She no longer feels alone . I’m happy that not only [name removed] but the entire staff is like an extended family , genuine and warm.

Mom loved it here! They are very helpful from start to finish. Mom has made friends and is comfortable there. I feel better knowing she is safe. They have safety measures in place for all. Couldn't be happier.

They are very helpful and knowledgeable. Great for families that are walking through this for the first time. Great dinners for residents, but very basic cafeteria lunch. Usually hotdogs. I would absolutely recommend Truewood Riverchase to those looking.

I think it's a vibrant Assisted Living community. I found the management staff exceptional, specifically the GM and Business Office Mgr. The facility, while older, has beautifully maintained common spaces. Nice apartment options. The meals were fine, not awesome, but definitely good. Lots of celebration activities for seasonal holidays. If your loved one likes card games, board games and puzzle socials, this is the place. The memory care is not as awesome. I toured that section and it was very small and seemed to have mainly very impaired residents and it smelled like pee.

[name removed] was very personable and friendly during the tour of Turner's Rock. The facility seemed very clean and the residents seemed engaged in the activities they were involved in. It seems to be a lovely place for a loved one to live. I am unable to review care services and meals and dining for I did not have an experience with those two areas. The dining room is beautiful.

What we like the most about Turners Rock and we would recommend them to other families - 1. Flexible times for visiting. Convenient location. 2. Dad likes the dining 3. He likes to be independent. At 98, this sometimes gets precarious. 4. Activities are suited for him. bingo & exercise.

Having to find a memory facility for my husband was very difficult. I visited many places. I am so grateful for having been referred to Truewood by A Place For Mom. I can say that Truewood has become not only my husband’s community but mine as well. What makes Truewood the safe happy place it is,is clearly reflected in the caring nature of the staff. Many of the staff have been with Truewood for years. I think that is a reflection of the overall company. If I could have cared for my husband at home I would have. Since I couldn’t, I thank God I found Truewood.

I’ve found a place that feels like home. The rooms are spacious and the staff is very nice and accommodating. This is a place where I can enjoy my life. Keep busy with activities and be happy. The staff here enjoy working here.
