Merrill Gardens

I ended up picking this facility for my loved one because it’s a new facility and she would be close to me. In the beginning, there were a few small problems but those have been corrected. The staff members are very friendly and helpful. I am very happy that I placed my loved one here. The food here is excellent and they serve a variety of things like prime rib, stew, and BBQ. I would recommend this facility to other families.

We were very well treated by the sales staff and it has many nice things to recommend it but the decor of both the building and the furnishings was not appealing. The whole place had a smell (not one of uncleanliness) which was not pleasant. Just not a good fit.

I toured this facility while looking for a place for my friend and I was very impressed. It’s a brand new community and it looked beautiful. The person who gave me the tour wasn’t as personable as other places by he was still knowledgeable. The reason why my friend doesn’t live here is that they do not accept residents with feeding tubes. I would recommend other families to tour this facility.

My love one really likes living at Standiford Place. She is in one of the cottages and really appreciates having a both a front and back door. While she has not had a chance to get involved in the activities yet, she is enjoying both the food and the people she has met. I wish someone was available to help her get to the activity programs. She is afraid to go alone because she might get lost. I think going to the activities would help her a lot though. If she could have a staff member or buddy help her at least every once in a while, that would be great. Other than that, everything at Standiford Place has been wonderful.

Mom is here and is adjusting. The communication could be a little better between the caregivers and the family. The food wasn't as good as we thought it would be but she gets 3 meals a day. Things in here room needs to be fixed and they don't seem to be to concerned about it getting fixed in a timely manner. She is in a safer place than to be alone at home. They clean 1x a week. She has found an old friend there too.

I toured this facility while looking for a place for my Mother-In-Law. The atmosphere of this community seemed lively and intellectually stimulating. A lot of the residents here are retired teachers or professors. This was my runner-up choice and the reason why I didn’t pick it is that it was just a little farther away than the other facility. They had a lot of activities however there aren't as many residents as elderly as my in-law. The person who gave me the tour was very knowledgeable and impressive. I would recommend this facility to other families.

Everyone at this facility has been very nice thus far. My Mother is so much happier here. The facility has lovely accommodations and they even allow her to have her dog. However, she has complained about a few things she doesn’t like. She says that they need a lot more busy activities and she is bored out of her gourd. I’ve heard her say that most of the time the residents just play bingo and watch TV which isn’t much fun. My mom is blind and there have been a few instances where she has tried to get the attention of the wait staff in the dining room and they didn’t pay attention so she didn’t get served for that meal. The other thing is that she is living on the 3rd floor. She does have her dog with her and it’s really hard for her to get down the hall, on the elevator and outside with her dog. My mom is currently waiting for a room on the 1st floor. I would recommend this facility to other families.

I love it here and the apartment is great. The food is less than desirable because of the small portions and they don’t have much of a variety to choose from but other than that everything’s fine. The staff is very good and they’re easy to communicate with. The activities they provide are knitting, sewing, swimming, and billiards. Housekeeping comes by once a week to work on the bathroom and vacuum the apartment. The other residents are fine, they seem friendly. I prefer being in a larger place and this place is better for me. The price I pay is all inclusive. I would recommend them.

My husband and I are doing very fine here. A lot of what we’ve liked has been location and we’re closer to family here, which means we get to see them a lot. We’ve been very pleased with the meals because of their variety and it’s been served well. There are a core group of foods that are available and they have 3 new entrees, a new soup, and a different dessert every day. They aren’t mammoth portions but we don’t really need that anyway. We have 2 rooms with a full sized kitchen, a washer and dryer, and we’re quite comfortable with the space. We’re quite pleased with the whole arrangement. The staff is easy to communicate with and seem knowledgeable and we actually had a “town meeting” to go over fire drills and other information. The staff was very cooperative with showing us what we needed to do and they’ll take complaints to make sure everything is going okay. They have exercise every morning at 10 and another one usually in the afternoon that you can go to that has music. There’s a happy hour every Friday where they serve wine and there’s someone that comes in that will play the piano and have a sing-a-long with music that we all know. We have no complaints concerning the cleanliness and the housekeeper that was assigned to our floor has been very awesome. The thing I like the most is that she even changes the bed for me because I have trouble doing it myself. There are things they’re still working on but they’re still very new and they’re doing a good job. I would recommend them and even our kids talk about moving in.

The staff here are phenomenal. We had an immediate connection to all the people we talked with. And we know people who has had family members here and they raved about them. The staff is long term there isn't a high turnover which made us comfortable. They have daily activities and little outings get planned. The conditions are very nice. I would recommend this community.

The facility is separated by different care types: assisted living and memory care. The memory care, where my loved ones are, seemed very small. It was just one hallway with a certain amount of rooms on each side. The staff is very friendly and the representative that was assisting us was very helpful. Housekeeping did well with keeping the whole facility nice and clean. The food served was not gourmet, but it also was not bad. Their menu changes daily and it was well portioned. For activities they have people brought in to play music and there seemed to be something was always happening in the morning and afternoons that the residents to participate in. I believe it is good for the patients in memory care because it would get them active rather than staying in their room.

I toured this community and it was nice and clean. The halls were big and spacious. The staff was helpful with my questions. I even meet the chef here and she made a repore with me immediately. There were no vacancies and that's why I'm not here and had to go with another community.

This the best of the communities that we have looked at and it seems to be within our budget.

Impressive facility that provided so many benefits to the residents. The staff was friendly and eager to meet our needs. Their pricing was competitive and their special was attractive, but after the 2-year period, the regular price would be too high for our budget.

Merrill Gardens at Woodstock was a lovely community. We really liked that she could have her dog come and live with her. We also liked that they had their cafeteria open for 12 hours for the residents. We really liked this community. She had to be evaluated and take a standardized test. I have shared some of the test questions they asked my mom to others and even they had difficulty with the answers.

We had a tour and they were a great place and it could have been fine for my In-Law. There were a large number of Asians for him to speak Cantonese and they were close to our home. I felt he would have been comfortable but it was not the right fit for him.

My aunt has recently made the move into this community and so far we are very pleased with how things are going for her. The price was perfect for her budget and her care has been excellent from the staff. She has has had no complaints about the meals and enjoys participating in some of the activities they have for the residents. Overall it has been the perfect fit and we are lucky to have found it for my aunt.

Relatively new (within 2 years). Studios were smaller than other places, decor was not as abundant or varied as other places, no real landscaping yet so outdoor strolls are not beckoning. Very clean and well maintained. Didn't really check out the dining. It was a further drive than other places in this price range so I didn't give it a

We considered this community when we were looking. The staff we met were friendly and the community did seem clean. The community we chose, however was brighter than this community. The cost of this community was a little higher than the community we chose.
