Merrill Gardens

It's pretty nice here. With Covid, it could be a lot better. There are no activities at all right now. I think in the long run it will get better, but right now it's not the best. The food is off and on - sometimes it's good, then other times not. But the staff are very good. They're very nice and helpful. And my apartment is very good as well.

The caregivers are just wonderful. And one of my minsters came to see me the other day and commented on how different it was here under the new ownership. Everyone is so friendly. And they do anything to help you. I like my apartment very much. It's roomy, and it's homey. And it looks out over the garden, which is nice. I am a Celiac, so that's been a struggle. It's a constant question of Can you eat this, Can you eat that? Every day. But that would be any place I would go. And they're at least interested in trying to accommodate that for me. They do have a lot of activities. I just don't care for the ones that they offer.

Truewood by Merrill is a very clean community and the staff members are very nice. The meals and dining service is awesome, we are able to visit with our loved one and eat the same meals and not only do they cater to our loved one but also to our family. The residents are able to mingle in their own community and within their community they all have their own apartments, and their own dining room. Also when it comes to the value for cost they are up front with you about exactly what you are getting and you can even tweak it a little in case there is a service you don't need or want to pay a different way. Also another thing we love, is they allow families to stay over a night. We have a family member staying with our loved one for a week, and she will have her own apartment, she eats all the meals for free and can participate in all the activities, and it is not very expensive at all.

I think when we toured the community and met everyone it gave us a good impression and the follow through of this was excellent. My loved one seems to enjoy the food. Once in awhile my loved one asks for a specific dish and the chef accommodates this request. It would be nice if the community could update the furniture in some areas of the building.

I would tell others to watch out for the General Manager and their protocols and their pushbacks. Due to the incident with the General Manager this was not the best way to get our loved one settled into the community. I wish things would have gone smoother for the transition with the move in. The community is beautiful and great. I wish visiting hours would be later for us to visit our loved ones. The communication with the staff could be better.

entry way makes the bulidng feel small at first, but it is spacious and open. nice living spaces and clean rooms. expensive for the size of the rooms.

I think it's a great place, especially for the cost. The care is there, and they're accessible. So I have no issues at all. There's always someone there - you just have to pick up the phone and call them, and they're ready and able to help. It's always really clean, nothing out of place, smells good. I would definitely recommend it.

Ask a lot of questions and find out exactly what the community can do for you loved one. The community is neat and clean and the staff is very neat and clean. I would recommend this community to others based on

I love it here for my loved one. There are few quirks that need to be ironed out still. The location is amazing. The billing, meals, and activities could all be improved. The meals are very pricey and the residents run out of money very quickly. The residents are being charged $20 a night for their evening meals. The director puts the exercise program on a computer and doesn't go over instruction. I think there could be more instructions for additional activities that are available. The activities overall are poorly run. Everything is for Catholic and nothing for other religions.

I was able to do an in person to tour at this community and it was a good experience. I was able to see a couple of rooms and everything seemed clean no fowl smells.

This facility was pleasant and had charm. The staff and residents were extremely friendly. We toured Truewood in the morning prior to lunch, and they seemed to have many activities listed for the day although none were going on at the time we were there. There was no unpleasant smell, and the facility seemed manicured outdoors. We decided on another facility as that one fit my mother in law better, but this would have been our next on the list as the price was reasonable for what they offer.

Have only been here about 5 months, so far for me i like it. There are some issues with maintenance that are inconvenient (but being addressed) Food is good and i feel pretty safe here, employees are friendly/ Property manager is making changes . There is transportation available for only 1/2 day from 7:00am - 12:30pm - i think, but you can setup side services with West Covina transportation service. (you have to do that) I would say its met perfect, but so worth considering as a good choice.

I would tell others that they make it easy to get in. They take the stress off during the move in. There are a lot of shopping centers, grocery stores, and a library close by. The community as a whole is worth your investment.

If you need memory care, the community is very nice for those residents. The community was able to provide residents vaccines. The staff has been very good at keeping us updated on any concerns or changes on my loved one. My loved one was recently moved out to the hospital and the community has been good at checking on my loved one.

The Gardens is a beautiful facility. It is more of a hospital type environment, I would say this is a facility that is the next step after assisted living.

I would tell others to definitely check it out. The social interaction and care are all really positive. The only thing I would keep in mind is this community doesn't work with dietary restrictions. You and your loved one would need to partner on this. They have excursion to stores in the neighborhood, bingo, walking club, bible studies and chapel services, balloon volleyball, and more for activities.

We chose Merrill Gardens at Sheldon Park because they had availability quickly when we needed it, we were pressured for time. Also I got a good feeling from the person I was talking to here. She was in a shared room, they had their own rooms but shared a bathroom. I did notice that sometimes they were short staffed. I recommend to others to take time to look around at other facilities and choose what best fits your needs, I wish I had more opportunity like that.

We've been very happy with them. I'm very happy with the care that my loved one is receiving. They've been very accommodating every step of the way. I feel like they've gone over and above to accommodate my loved one, which has been really nice. So far, I would recommend them.

We toured Mistywood and it was a nice facility but it was pretty pricey. It is larger so the tour was overwhelming for my mom.
