My gram recently moved into Smithfield Woods, although this is my first time in an assisted living I was so pleasantly surprised with how nice it was, not at all what I expected. It felt like a home, it smelled good . It was clean, nicely decorated for the holiday and everyone was so nice. i feel really good about gram calling this her new home.

The people are so friendly. Everything I need I only have to ask and it is done. I feel very safe here safer than when I was at home. I love when we go out to dinner and lunch on the bus. I wish we could play bingo everyday. Love when we have music, it’s always good.

When I first moved here, I wasn’t sure if anyone would like me. I’m not from around here, but my daughter lives very close to the building. The people are so friendly that work here. The others that live here really welcome you. I love living here. There’s activities they get us out of our rooms. Everyone just makes you feel welcomed

It has been very helpful place. I was living on my own and needing more companionship. Coming to the Landings I have found good friends and feel apart of something. The food has been wonderful!!!!

Chevy Chase House combines the amenities of a hotel with the permanence of a residence, located on Connecticut Ave. and Legation Street. It is an easy walk to nine restaurants, six banks, the Chevy Chase Library, the Chevy Chase Community Center, Safeway, CVS, and the Avalon I and II, two of the last movie houses in DC. Chevy Chase House provides transportation to nearby medical buildings at 5454 and 5530 Wisconsin Ave which house numerous doctors’ offices. It is also close to seven houses of worship. Chevy Chase House provides transportation to these and other locations. In 2025, Chevy Chase House was named a Best Assisted Living Community by the U. S. News and World Report. Wherever they found chef [removed name], they had better hide her. She and the meals she creates remind me of chef Wolfgang Puck. Once I had Peking duck for lunch and rack of lamb for dinner. Also to be commended are the dining room staff as well as the nursing team.

Staff is attentive and caring for each individual and thier own personal needs. Facility is very clean. They keep a full list of activities and outings available, and also have a full service salon. The residents are all very friendly and welcoming. Its like a big family here.

My Father has been a resident of the Esplanade for a few months now and we cannot be happier. The staff is beyond accommodating and very professional. The building is new and always immaculate. We are so grateful for the care he is currently receiving, the staff is truly compassionate, professional and attentive to his needs. It gives our family such peace of mind knowing he is in a safe and supportive environment where he is treated with dignity and kindness.

The best place my mother has lived, very friendly, super clean and numerous staff to handle all members. My mother absolutely loves the activities and her apartment. Highly recommend Meridian and place for Mom support.

I like it here. They always help me when I need help. They keep my apartment really clean. The food is delicious and I like the activities, especially the musical groups. My family comes to see me a lot and they’re always nice to them. I like living here.

I live here with my husband and it’s very nice. The staff take great care of us and they treat us like family. The food is good and I love the musicians. They have come to play for us. It’s a great place to be.

I have been deciding over the past two years if the villa is a Hollybrook is where I needed to be and I finally made the decision and it’s the best decision I could’ve made. It feels like home I’ve made so many friends and they take excellent care of me.

I have left here for years my husband at one point lived here with me until he moved onto a higher level of care. They treat you like family here. I feel very safe here and I would recommend it to anyone.

I’ve been here longer than anyone else and this place is great! They take good care of me. They joke with me and they make sure I have plenty of food in my apartment is clean. They even got me the Big Ten network for free.

The staff at the villa is a Hollybrook take excellent care of me. They are very attentive and they know my knees and once before I even do. The food is delicious and the activities are great. it’s the best place to be.

Definitely a 5 in every category. My stepdad is very happy there. It's a beautiful place in my opinion and the care is exceptional. Meals are delicious with a good variety. Staff is respectful, friendly and accommodating. I am glad my loved one is in a place where I'm confident he's getting great care.

My parents moved into the Villas in [removed date]. Dad was only able to enjoy his new home for a few weeks until his death. Mom continued to live there until [removed date] when she needed more medical care than assisted living provides. During that time, I visited often enough that I almost felt like a resident. The care partners always looked after Mom. Always had great food in the dining room with friendly service. The housekeeping and maintenance folks were also excellent. And with the recent remodel, the common areas look fresh and inviting. No matter the position of staff, everyone knew your name. I would put The Villas at St. James as the top choice for assisted living in the Breese area.

We transitioned Mom to Villas of Hollybrook in Chatham several years ago, after a very stressful hospitalization and rehab stay. Every visit and interaction with staff reaffirms for us that we chose the right place. Each staff person, no matter their role, has become like family to Mom. They go above and beyond to ensure she receives assistance with transport to appointments, taking her to get her Apple Barn fix and to the post office. They offer advocacy with medical matters, assist her with meds, and best of all, spend quality time with her. She is consistently loved and well taken care of. We love our Hollybrook family and are so grateful they have helped Mom come to consider Hollybrook as “home.”

My father in law lived at Holly Brook for over a year and loved it! He became very lonely at home and was not eating well! The socialization at Holly Brook was just what he needed! He participated in all the activities and outings! His favorite part of the day was going to the dining room at breakfast and chatting with everyone! The staff is top notch with such caring hearts!
