If the resident has difficulty managing their health care benefits and/or health care reimbursements, be prepared to have someone else in the family do it. Harbor Village staff will not assist with that. If the resident falls and can't get up, there is a device they can press for help...but it may take up to an hour or more, especially at night. Additionally, many staff members have limited English speaking skills.

QOC, Food and admin staff scored lower because I have tried for months to talk to the meridian about a diabetic diet for my father without being able to successfully schedule a single phone call. I have not had responses to my emails this week. I had 3 weeks off from work and still couldn't get a talk scheduled with them. I will be very busy when I get back to work and the ball will drop again. My father mentally cannot handle managing his own diet so needs assistance from kitchen and staff in having diabetic friendly meals.

Make sure if they know their loved one is going to be on Medicare / Medicaid they get all the information from SS before applying .

Glenwood assisted living has excellent caring staff who go above and beyond to care for my mother. We like the one on one care she receives.

I believe this assisted living facility is one to rate in the area of Effingham. It is a place to be assured that your family will be safe and taken care of.

The assisted living staff is very helpful and work with new residents to get them involved in activities. I would recommend the facility to others, however some residents do not seem to be happy with the management. We have not had any issues but a few residents are very vocal.

Gentry Park is always clean and the studio accommodation is quite comfortable. The care staff is very dedicated to providing good care and meeting my loved one's needs. They are also good about communicating with me when they have concerns about my loved one. The food is good and the kitchen staff is flexible about providing "any time meals" when my loved one misses a designated meal time.

The phone system has bot worked properly since I moved in almost 3 years ago. More variety in activities. I'm very pleased with the new activities director!! He's doing a great job

Although they were the best price I found, these places are way over priced. One thing that really bothered me is that once you pay for the month, there is not a refund if you leave before the end of the month. My dad died on [date removed], if the company were fair they would have given back some of the rent money. It's unfortunate that they take advantage of our seniors.

The staff is very responsive to the residence needs. They address all residence by name always with a cherry disposition. They know their residence for example, if someone doesn't go to the exercise class, they go looking for the resident.

The staff is friendly and helpful but the nurses don't respond to call buttons quickly and their system of tracking meds isn't always accurate and up-to-date. Food is generally good but sometimes the options are too similar if the resident doesn't care for that cuisine (e.g., 2 Mexican dishes or 2 sandwich choices, etc.). They always have burgers available but sometimes things on the ala carte menu aren't available.

If you are wanting good food or good transport option this is NOT the place. knowing what I know now I would have chosen a different place. Great community, great staff but understaffed. Activities in house are abundant but not very creative. New owenership has prioritzed profit over care. Food is cafeteria style, not bad but nothing special. Huge benefit is washer dryers in each room, large resident population for varied social experience. I don't think the memory care is all that great. Definitely understaffed. Transport options are far too limited to tues-thurs for med appts only. I would place this as a second-tier option, not a luxury option. High price for what they provide.

I ate several meals at the Meridian and I enjoyed each one. I stayed for about a week and ate 3 meals a day.

A place for mom was very helpful with setting up appointments and directing us to the right facilities based on our needs. We met some fabulous people along the way and were able to make an informed best choice for my dad. He has been happily thriving in the facility for a month now. The staff are great and responsive to our needs. We love their Friday “Happy Hours” with live music because it’s the one thing that still seems to have an impact on dad… he loves it! Thank you and bless your staff and their tremendous work at A place for mom!

We were very pleased with the layout and amenities of the facility. My mom was very pleased by the easy access to the outdoor patio directly from her room. She is enjoying the socialization and feels very comfortable there.

My mom has is in an independent living room/building. She gets one meal a day from the food service and it's usually more than she can eat so she ends up, bringing some back with her. The cleaning crew comes in once a week and vacuums her unit she likes to keep a clean house so she still wants to do it herself. Parking at the independent living building is a bit crowded. We have to park on the street and walk up to the building or go to a different building and walk around it to get down to my mothers building when we visit. Most of the staff that does the cleaning and work in the area I believe our Somalians or and Caribbean descendants. My mother keeps to herself most of the time and does not partake in a lot of the activities/functions at the home.

The people are all super nice there and very kind to my dad. Sometimes communication is difficult because you tell the people in charge something and it doesn’t always get communicated to the staff. I usually have to call a couple times.

We were worried since my mother in law did not want to go into assisted living. She’s there maybe 3 months and she likes it very much! There is always someone around and everyone knows everyone on staff. We are very happy and safe having her there. Everything is done for her! She’s on and off in a wheel chair but they get her up with a walker whenever possible as they like to she her independent. We are very pleased

After a few setbacks and delays getting into her apartment, Mom is finally settling in to her new home. The staff are attentive and friedly, the neighbors are friendly, there are a good amount of activities. The facility is clean (there was a pest issue from former tenant, but the staff jumped right on it and it's been resolved). The menu is okay, and Mom is slowly adapting to her new (2) meal times. She hasn't used the transportation to appointments and shopping yet. The only negatives so far are that the deposit fees doubled between the time we toured and the time to sign contract, and the bathroom showerheads are difficult, and Mom is also missing going to church each Sunday. Our family is happy to see her getting more social and active and enjoying this next chapter of life.

Staff interaction high with residents. You can go to them anytime. Get a new chef! Frequently food is cooked ahead, sits and gets overcooked, dry, to much grease left in soups, taco salad. Too much pre-cooked foods as well.
