I have visited The Firs, not in their apartment, but I've seen the place. They're pretty much in the wooded area. I don't know how much sunlight they get there. It seemed like there were probably a little bit more activities there than other places I saw.

We got a brief tour there. The person who was supposed to show us around got sick and we didn't know that so when we showed up someone else took us around. They were not as knowledgeable but they were apologetic. It was a bigger place and it being bigger made it seem a little less intimate.

Some of the people are great and some not so much. We needed more medically. Food is ok, but they always forget something and take forever. They will deliver meals for a fee and if they remember to put the order in. The place just went through a huge renovation. And it really confused my Mom moving her around.

The entire care team are hardworking and caring toward our mom and family. The caregiver staff and front desk staff are friendly and helpful. They clearly care about their work and the clients. Maintenance is slow to respond to requests, and the facility is old and shows its age. The fixtures, toilet, and wall heater in my mom's room are all very old. The heater is very loud. MBK is making cosmetic improvements to the facilities slowly (e.g. new carpet in dining room) and passing on all the costs to customers. Rent and care costs both rose in just the first 9 months my mom lived there. I expect the costs to keep rising precipitously, unfortunately, because of the corporate ownership. We have been disappointed in the lack of personalized care for my mom. My mom needs more personal support and time with staff to develop trust and relationships with them and to get more involved in the community, but it's impossible because MBK, the corporate owner, is so strict about the time spent with clients. They want to bill for every minute, so staff can't spend the time to get to know my mom or help her get more involved. It is not the staff's fault - it's MBK's system. Huntington Terrace is not a place where clients will have consistent caregivers. The caregivers rotate a lot and the aren't allowed to spend much time with clients. They are nice and good at their work, however. Communication has been an issue sometimes. Messages I send via email or voicemail are not responded to at all sometimes, and sometimes messages don't get relayed.

The staff was friendly, and my parents enjoyed some of the activities. Unfortunately, they were dissatisfied with the size of the apartment and the food. Particularly the food. They complained of the portions being tiny, but even worse, of the food being unpalatable and sometimes even a misleading representation of what the recipe claims to be. Ultimately, since they stopped eating meals there altogether, they decided that Courtyard at Mt. Tabor was not worth [Amount Removed] per month.

Our family moved our parents out of Savanna House primarily due to leadership concerns. While several frontline staff members were kind, we experienced repeated issues that pointed to a lack accountability. Maintenance requests went unaddressed for days (including a backed-up toilet), residents were at times ignored, conflicts between residents and staff were noticed without de-escalation skills, and there was no formal onboarding process. We were also surprised to find no resident handbook and no upfront documentation for how care levels or point allocations are determined across the board (only resident specific) so no documentation of the baseline to verify care levels against. This is how they bill. Ultimately, leadership sets the tone for resident care, communication, and accountability. We did not feel confident leaving our parents under the executive direction there at the time (unknown if person is still there).

Rooms were better sized at this building, but the distance to walk to anything was TOO much for my father. We will keep looking. Staff was great and the buildings were lovely however.

Nice place if that’s all you need. As far as care, good luck. You will not receive it if you are an elder who needs attending to. Mother fell twice under their care. Was ambulance twice!! Staff cannot handle those who need hands on care. The sold us in it, but did not deliver. It’s a sale they want. Laundry, poor, meals, the same menu for one month, care, dangerous. Good if you are completely independent, if not, I pity you.

She didn't like the food, just used the place for short term recovery, all else was fine.

We were fairly happy with The Montera, however there were some issues with information getting mixed up and things not being followed through with. Because we live fairly close and visited several times a week we were able to keep an eye on everything. If you want more specifics, I would have to go back to communications I had with the Hospice nurse. My mom passed away[date removed], so she was only there a few months. At the end, needing much more care, we spent more time there to make sure she was well tended to. Because of her caregiver changing from day to day (due to shift changes and maybe turnover in staff), one of the of the things I suggested to them was to create a schedule so we would know who her caregiver was that day so we could find her and get updates. They never did that. Also during her time there the manager of the memory care wing quit and there was a period where communication was very poor. I just think it could be more organized. With that said, the food seemed ok and most of the care givers were very friendly and her room was kept clean.

Initially everyone was friendly. They are understaffed for assisted and do not involve the families in decisions they make regarding the residents. They take actions that are not in the best interest of the emotional and physical safety of the residents. Their housekeeping was very poor and we ended up doing her laundry and emptying trash much of the time.

Since my mom moved in, she has seemed happier because of her interactions with the other residents. The staff also seem friendly. The few complaints that we have had are that the food and food service could both use improvement, and that the building is older. There have been some maintenance issues, such as the air conditioning being out for almost a week.

What we think the community could improve on would be the activities and food along with better communications from staff and management. We would most likely recommend the community to other families, we've only been there [date removed], but so far, so goo

Nice facility. Clean and beautiful décor. Movie theatre, games and entertainment daily, seasonal activities which include family members.

Overall it was average. Admin was supportive, but staff were not the best. Some were very good, but many didn't care. The admin staff talked a good game and were very friendly, but then handed her to staff who didn't care. My mom's phone was stolen and no one cared or did anything. She passed within a week of that happening.

I would tell others looking to make sure and speak to the current residents family members to get a full understanding of care and time provided to the residents before moving in. It all depends on the needs of the family member if this facility is a good fit.

They just had a massive COVID outbreak. There was a serious lack of protocol and irresponsibility in regards to CDC guidelines for assisted living facilities. This included my mother getting sick which caused great stress. They have been continuously short staffed and unfortunately, it appears that the upper management only cares about cost

You can tell it's a profit-driven business, they are understaffed and getting follow-up on any concerns is impossible. No one seems to be actually accountable for anything related to billing, etc. but care staff are nice and I think they pay attention to residents. They have high turnover so I'm guessing pay is low.

I think the assisted living side is great with plenty of engaging activities. The facility is modern and the residents are nice.

They could've done better watching my mom... place is for people more independent... mom fell in her room and seriously broke her leg and no one found her for hours. Eating facility was being renovated.
