I looked at this one and it was nice but not as nice as the other one we looked at.

The facility was very nice, smaller and in a nice location. They even had the option for my parents to try it out for a month which I find to be very interesting. The only negative is that it is pretty costly. My parents are now on a hold status to move.

Attractive and peaceful inside and out. Patio or terrace Restaurant style food service (healthy) Shower has step over (negative) Cost for service beyond basic (i.e. med management...) Personal laundry service cost but have laundry facilities. Rug smelled People seem happy 160 residents 100 staff

It's not that we're not happy with Dale Commons, its not Dale Commons as much as it is her insurance company, they haven't paid a penny since she's been there because they keep finding more that they need. When we got to Dale Commons, we were told they would be able to handle everything everything everything, doing all the paperwork, running around all of that, but we've had to do it. All they do is keep telling us "don't worry" but we have to worry because we can't keep paying for it and if they kick her out my mom will probably end up passing away. The care though has been fine, the staff is wonderful, the activities has been more on the idea that the kids promote it, she's done a few little things and friday they have a happy hour and they have an entertainer that comes in, so fridays are our mother-daughter days. They're helping her get dressed and helping her shower, they're hands on as she needs it, as helpers go they're wonderful, as management goes, it sucks.

We chose it for 2 reasons: about 2-3 years ago we had gone over there to see the palce when it was brand new and we had liked it a lot; however, we weren't readuy financially to do it and we chose it also because it was close to where we live. We checked out other places in the area and came back to The Commons. My mom is kind of a special case because she lived in a nursing home before and moved up to assisted living, she's only one of the few that did and she knew that she was going to break out of there (her words) at some point and go to a better place so she's really happy to be in a place like this. The only downside of course would be the money, but it really is worth it for her; the demographics of the residents are similar and she feels like they're all so similar. I could jsut go on and on about how wonderful it is for my mom and how happy she is there

THe place was fine, I think maybe they needed a few more people on staff to take care of the older gender. They should probably have more staff to check on people because people were going in to other peoples rooms and taking stuff out because they didnt remmeber what their rooms looked like so they had no idea they were in the wrong room. if they could put more people on staff to stop that from happening and check on them if they fell out of bed that would be better. Its a little too pricey, they probably could have dropped about $[removed] off the price. We left my dad's stuff there for about a week after his funeral and they charged us for that week, if we knew they were going to do that we would have gotten it out alot earlier and my mom wasn't too happy about that

I don't really have anything to compare it to but I haven't run into any major issues. The people are great. My biggest struggle has been trying to deal with medications and pharmacies. I'll get questions from their med techs and I just don't know what to do with them. Both of my parents love it there. They're very happy with their room. We looked at other places and the rooms at Oakdale are spacious and private. It has everything they need. The other places were just like a rectagluar box but this place has a bedroom portion and a living room portion - the layout is nice.

Clean, friendly, secure, almost affordable, proximity, definitely a candidate. Rating 4 stars

My experience with this community ranges from 2001 - 2005 so it might be outdated. Unless they've updated the facilities, getting air conditioning was really difficult. They didn't have air conditioning in the rooms. My mom lived there and she said the food was pretty good. It needed some facility updates but overall it was pretty good.

The Chancellor Gardens is close to our home so it is convenient for family. The memory care unit is very spacious and has a very good setup. Would like if they took the residents outside for a little fresh air every once in a while. But overall we are happy with them and our loved one is happy being here.

We loved the set up of the rooms, the windows and balconies. I liked that they displayed the food choices for the meals. Everyone seemed very nice. The rooms were clean and spacious. The whole center seemed clean. I liked all the different activity rooms and the activities listed in various locations. I loved the emergency pull stations in the bathrooms and bedrooms and the pendant that pages to a nurse. I didn't like that the doors are locked from the outside at 7:30p.m. and if you leave you have to ring the doorbell to get back in. If mom wanders we will have to move her from this location.

This also looked nice: good area and the people we met were nice. I guess there is some question as to whether she could be on the second floor because of her mobility, but she walks around home all the time without any assistance (her walker or otherwise) so I think she could walk down 1 flight of stairs in an emergency. At the Commons there are no balconies. Also, the fridge at the Commons was full size (which I see as a bad thing because my mom really only needs to keeps snacks if she has 3 prepared meals a day in a dining room.) The one activity we say were people playing bingo for money, and my mom doesn't like to gamble at all. There are no doubt lots of activities, but that did come off somewhat negatively. My mom has mixed feelings about set dinning times. She likes the idea of eating when she wants, but the notion of going to a salad bar other people have pawed through for hours sounds yucky. I assume fresh food from the kitchen anytime would be fine with her--this is something we probably need to investigate further.

We liked this facility very much, especially the studio apts. vs. a single room.

Property looks great and amenities very nice.

Liked: Rooms, some views of Mt. Tabor. Hallways had nice carpeting, colors, artwork on walls. Outdoor courtyards nice. Felt comfortable. Tai Chi 1-2 xs/week. Other excercise class in morning. Nice common spaces. 2 "libraries." Didn't like: Some rooms looked over parking lot. Mom concerned about activities not being that interesting to her.

Met with community manager who was very informative and friendly. Residents seemed happy and it smelled good. Not sure this is a good fit for my loved one: no mountain views and a bit pricey for thier income. The facility was very nice because it is a small community.

Many activities; close to local senior center; apartment feel rather than nursing home. Offer a full kitchen with oven. Beautiful. Restaurant style dining with little cafe.

Assisted and independent. Assisted provided by outside caregivers or them. If skilled care or memory support needed, resident has to move to a different facility. Jay says it is a very diverse community in terms of education and geography. Bible study, exercise, lots of cards (dice, etc.) and parties. gathering places bar, bistro, living room Adjacent to a senior center.
