Stairwells need cleaning. No real nurse on premises and for assisted living they can't even take a residents covid test in stead they let them infect each other. Some individuals get a 5. They run out of milk - cereal and toast should always be an option for breakfast when having fish offer a second option as not everyone likes seafood some might like a simple peanut butter sandwich's. I guess the activities are a 5 as they seem offer a number unfortunately my mother doesn't participate. Better option then most in the area see above comments

This place has jacked up my rent 3 times in the last year. Most meals are very greasy or unhealthy. Laundry is broken most of time. At the moment I wouldn't really recommend Ashton Manor to other families

Staff need to give better care and attention to their residents. My advice is to stay away.

I would not recommend it to anyone. We picked them because of the affordability.

When my dad first arrived the staff was great. They had a lot of changes at some point prior to July and a few things seemed to change but all in all Chapman was very good for my dad. He passed way in [date removed]. I would recommend them for other people when in need

I chose this place was based on the financial part. We were refused several because of his progression with Dementia . I will not recommend to anyone!!

They do not respond to your phone calls. Do not do what they tell you they will do. Do not give much assistance at all to their residents. Our resident's bathroom was not cleaned properly. Her laundry was not done in a timely manner. If residents are in good physical condition they may like living here.

We were lead to believe my Mom's dietary restrictions (she has several food allergies) would be accommodated, but they weren't the first month. Then they worked with us & it was a little better. The lack of staff in the evening hours (1 person for the entire place) seemed very unsafe & not much care for what we were paying. The actual caregivers were great, just stretched too thin. Also, it was American House at the time my Mom was there. Some staff may or may not have changed.

There has been a lot of staff turn over in all positions and that they currently are short on care givers. They need a friendlier activities coordinator and better food recipes.

I will be perfectly honest. We were happier with the facility before hands changed and the name changed. After December 2023, staff was short handed and merely did what had to be done to get by. Staff was leaving on a weekly basis and the residents suffered from it. Meals were not what we expected they should be for elderly residents. Too many hotdogs/sandwiches and chips. If they had been able to keep up the care/routine as it was when my Mother moved in[date removed] , she probably would still be at Vickery Parke.

Many times my mother would ring for someone to take her to the bathroom, especially at night, and she'd be ignored. I've had nasty aide on the phone and she refused to give me her name & when they took my mother to hospice, someone went into her room & stole all her perfume bottles! They were Christmas presents, expensive & full! No one has ever been held accountable. Many tomes had to call & get someone to clean her room. Most were nice but some were nasty. Directors & managers were always professional & helpful. Again, what I paid for lacked the attention not only needed overnight for my mother but other residents. When they could keep a cook, it was good. Most complaints were slow service. She always enjoyed the arts & crafts, bingo, outings, & happy hour & ice cream socials. Compared to the cost of other places around town, Oaks was good for the money. She couldn't afford a [fee removed] a month place, so for [fee removed] plus, it was worth the aggravation of a few bad employees. There were so special people who cared about their people but some were just unhappy people & management would try hard to weed those people out.

The overall experience would be higher but some communication issues and a lot of turnover.....We have no issues. Place is clean. The staff are very friendly for the most part, especially ones that are there for a while. The care services are very good for the most part. The activities would be a 5 but again turn over. Compared to other places very reasonable.

Mom has been there since summer of '22 under American House, huge staff turn over since the sell to Chapman Manor. The maintenance guy does nothing apparently, as we have done most of the repairs on our own, as it was left in disrepair after many repair requests were ignored (plumbing, closet and window leaks). Now I heard the terrible maintenance guy quit..good BYE! Some staff actually truly care and spend time with the residents, like [name removed] and [name removed] in the lunch room, while others just show up to collect $. Sad we come 1-2 times a week for 2 years and the front desk staff don't recognize us or even know who our mom is...Come on! Yes, Chapman House is fixing up inside with new paint and floors, to increase sales my guess. However, look up...the roof, flashing blown, windows leak, etc... The physician assistant, never follows up with us, mom has had a sore throat for over 2mos now...they say she is fine...what the? Raspy voice isn't a clue. Yes we are involved and care about

It was a very short-lived experience my mother only lived there for about a month and she passed but while she was there she at least made some quick friends and she enjoyed the social life that she was able to experience with the games and the singing and Fina the director of activities is a sweetheart she is an amazing Angel and Mama really loved her a lot and we are just grateful that Mama isn't suffering anymore and that's about it

I would say DO NOT send your parents here! Dad moved out after they stopped cleaning his apartment, discontinued trash pickup, and stopped serving meals to the independent living, while raising the rent.

Mom is looked after and well fed. It’s not the same as having her at home, but it works well. My only complaints are about cosmetic things. They don’t make suggestions about clothes options so she is often mismatched. They are not careful about returning laundered items to the correct owner, so she’s missing clothes and has several pieces that are not hers. They supervise her showers but don’t ensure her hair is properly washed or rinsed—so it looks a mess most days. However, I don’t worry about her happiness. She’s very happy with her new friends. Her health has improved from the interactions with others. It seems like she believes she works there. I pick my battles, but I do wish they cared for her personal hygiene and care like I did. It’s a good choice and value for the area.

The facility is acceptable. There are a few positive points. Unfortunately, I have noticed that the kitchen appears to be grimy and out of date. For some reason, the food served to the residents isn’t very appealing and not real tasteful. Therefore, sadly, the residents seem to be hungry, often. This in turn, affects their daily living. It’s troubling to the residents to see staff eating takeout. What’s even more troubling is not being able to talk to corporate representatives. They don’t seem to make it past the front offices.

They are in a period of transition due to management changes that occurred right after my parent moved in. They let people go soon after that so many people are new. I don’t know if that is the issue but I am optimistic that this is why the service is less than expected. The food is not great. The weekly menu is loosely followed. The communication is not great. I have followed up to emails I sent and still have not received responses. I go regularly, so I know that my mom is well taken care of, but it makes me question what I am paying for. The caregivers are all friendly and helpful.

I do like the people at the community as well as the location. I do like the lack of traffic and the shopping stores near by, but when it comes to the meals I would like some fried food. I would definitely recommend this community to other families based on the experience I have had so far.

Other need to know about the hidden fees that they do not tell you about until after you have moved your loved one in. I would make sure when you first meet with them, make sure that you have them sign the negotiated issues.
