Well maintained facility. Seemed reasonably priced.

We are leaning toward this facility.

The staff do a really good job of communication to families and I have a good relationships with the medical techs. They are very in tune with the care that they give to their residents and they have been accommodating and administration is great to work with. All of the people I have met have been very nice. I do really like Brookdale.

The memory care unit is upstairs so residents could not mingle with others. We think it is important for them to be able to talk to others to help slow down the disease. There is also only a little balcony, there is no where for residents to get outside and walk around. We just did not feel like there was much interaction and it was not a robust environment for the mental stimulation we were looking for for our loved one. What we did like about the facility was it did not feel institutional. The rooms are private and feel more like apartment-style living.

This community was nice but it just did not fit our needs. The room that was the nicest and opened up to outside opened up to the outside parking area and seemed to be the smoking area. We knew my loved one would not like this. It was nice but not a good fit for what we were looking for.

The community was very reasonably priced. The staff was always pleasant and very nice to me and my loved ones. We could visit the community by appointment, and they would let me bring her dog in to visit. The communication between the staff and the community was good and they returned calls quickly. I would recommend this community to others after the pandemic due to all the restrictions. The community is located centrally located in the downtown area.

We do like it, however they do seem understaffed. They do keep the community clean. They also are not keeping up with my mother's hygiene as much as they are supposed to. The quality of the food is also not as good anymore, which could be a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The staff is very courteous.

I have lived here for 3+ years, and I can definitely tell you that the last 6 months since the new owners took over, things have improved considerably. There are new caregivers, all of whom are certified, and there are enough of them to properly care for the residents. Full time professional maintenance staff. Lots of renovations to the facility, full time activities director, weekly excursions, improved food service, improved housekeeping. And last but not least, an Executive Director that is open, approachable, understanding and really cares about the residents.

Rooms for 2 people too small. The same size as the single rooms. Clothes end up missing, misplaced and stuffed in a very small closet with the other person’s. The staff are very friendly, helpful and wonderful with the residents; however, no communication from the director or even a smile or hello. [Name removed] (who answers the phone) is exceptional and always there when you need something.

Another nice community I had no complaints. The community was in a nice setting almost felt like you were in the country. The staff was very nice and friendly. The community was clean and looked good inside and out.

The staff here did a very nice job with my tour here for my brother. They took their time showing me around and answering all my questions. The memory care unit was very nice but right now I feel my brother would do much better in the assisted living area, which was also very nice. The community had a lot to offer.

My mom is settling in quite nicely at the Atria Forest Lake. The community is very clean and inviting. The staff is friendly and attentive to her needs. She really enjoys the salads they serve, she says she is gaining weight and I told her that is only because she wins the cookies they serve as rewards at Bingo! There are plenty of activities and her therapist takes her for walks to enjoy the outdoors. We are very satisfied that mom is getting the best care here at Atria Forest Lake.

We were really not overly impressed with this location. The location needs to be updated new paint carpets just everything in general. It does not give off a very good first impression when you walk in the door and see residents just sitting in wheelchairs not doing anything not even talking to each other. The only thing we really liked was they offered a range of options for the rooms.

This felt like a well run community when I had my tour. I do not think the residents are as supervised as what we were looking for in a community. They have a trained chef and the sales director was very sweet. This community was a higher cost than what we were looking for. This community did not seem as light, bright and airy as the community we chose.

This community felt dark when I visited. The hallways did not seem to offer a lot of light. The community looked clean and the people I met were nice. This community was a little larger than what my loved one was looking for.

Brookdale seems to be a nice facility. 90% of the workers are friendly, available and helpful. Residents are sweet. We had several changes at first. The director left and went to another faculty about 2 weeks after my mom arrived. The head nurse got ill and has been out for a month. The sales manager had surgery and was out for a few weeks. (I really like him. Very helpful). All this happened around the same time. I'd like to get answers to questions faster but I can see why I haven't. The cost is really good. The activity director is excellent. I have only eaten one meal and it was average. It took a week to find out when they would clean and do laundry for my mom. Then, it was supposed to be on a Saturday but it didn't happen. By Sunday mom asked a med tech and she was nice enough to help take care of it. I am nervous about the meds distribution. I ended up having to make sure they refilled. Some of her meds were running out over the weekend and they had not been ordered for refill. They took care of it quickly, when I asked them to. Lastly, mom had about $40 I. Her wallet when we moved her in just in case of a need and it was stolen. Not sure by whom but she won't have cash on hand any more. However, overall I am happy because my mom is and she has made some nice friends.

Some caregivers are kinder than others in their physical handling. Nursing staff is efficient and kind. There is a conscious effort to keep everybody as active as possible.

I appreciate their service and work and so I don't want anything negative said about the staff or meals.

This is a nice community and kept clean except for my moms room. I have not had a chance to try the food but when we visit on the weekend she has had a sandwich and soup. There was an issue with giving her her insulin as the nurse was not aware the cap was on the needle so she was not getting her medication. She is doing better since talking to other residents and going outside often.

When it was time to find a place for my dad it was stressful! We did a bunch of tours in one day and by the time I arrived at Brookdale Newport I was frazzled. The staff was very patient with me and answered all my questions. One staff member even stayed way past her shift just to wait for us to drive over to Newport so we could do our tour. The facility was clean, the staff nice, and the residents seemed very happy. Once we saw how happy the residents were and how well they interacted with the staff we knew this was the right place for dad. The facility had an all inclusive price which saved us quite a bit with my dad's extra dietary needs and medication administration help required. The only thing that was disappointing was that this memory care unit had a very small courtyard. My dad loves to do yard work but this facility didn't offer much for him to do in the enclosed memory care unit's outdoor area as it only had a tiny grassy area with a few bushes and flowers. Some of the other Brookdales have larger courtyards with trees and larger landscaped areas. That's the only reason I gave a lower score on activities. They do lots of other things with the residents but didn't have the kind of activity available that my dad enjoys. Overall I'm am happy with my choice to place my dad at Brookdale Newport. He seems to have settled in ok and is being well cared for.
