Mainstay Healthcare Management

We were really not overly impressed with this location. The location needs to be updated new paint carpets just everything in general. It does not give off a very good first impression when you walk in the door and see residents just sitting in wheelchairs not doing anything not even talking to each other. The only thing we really liked was they offered a range of options for the rooms.

This felt like a well run community when I had my tour. I do not think the residents are as supervised as what we were looking for in a community. They have a trained chef and the sales director was very sweet. This community was a higher cost than what we were looking for. This community did not seem as light, bright and airy as the community we chose.

This community felt dark when I visited. The hallways did not seem to offer a lot of light. The community looked clean and the people I met were nice. This community was a little larger than what my loved one was looking for.

Brookdale seems to be a nice facility. 90% of the workers are friendly, available and helpful. Residents are sweet. We had several changes at first. The director left and went to another faculty about 2 weeks after my mom arrived. The head nurse got ill and has been out for a month. The sales manager had surgery and was out for a few weeks. (I really like him. Very helpful). All this happened around the same time. I'd like to get answers to questions faster but I can see why I haven't. The cost is really good. The activity director is excellent. I have only eaten one meal and it was average. It took a week to find out when they would clean and do laundry for my mom. Then, it was supposed to be on a Saturday but it didn't happen. By Sunday mom asked a med tech and she was nice enough to help take care of it. I am nervous about the meds distribution. I ended up having to make sure they refilled. Some of her meds were running out over the weekend and they had not been ordered for refill. They took care of it quickly, when I asked them to. Lastly, mom had about $40 I. Her wallet when we moved her in just in case of a need and it was stolen. Not sure by whom but she won't have cash on hand any more. However, overall I am happy because my mom is and she has made some nice friends.

Some caregivers are kinder than others in their physical handling. Nursing staff is efficient and kind. There is a conscious effort to keep everybody as active as possible.

I appreciate their service and work and so I don't want anything negative said about the staff or meals.

This is a nice community and kept clean except for my moms room. I have not had a chance to try the food but when we visit on the weekend she has had a sandwich and soup. There was an issue with giving her her insulin as the nurse was not aware the cap was on the needle so she was not getting her medication. She is doing better since talking to other residents and going outside often.

When it was time to find a place for my dad it was stressful! We did a bunch of tours in one day and by the time I arrived at Brookdale Newport I was frazzled. The staff was very patient with me and answered all my questions. One staff member even stayed way past her shift just to wait for us to drive over to Newport so we could do our tour. The facility was clean, the staff nice, and the residents seemed very happy. Once we saw how happy the residents were and how well they interacted with the staff we knew this was the right place for dad. The facility had an all inclusive price which saved us quite a bit with my dad's extra dietary needs and medication administration help required. The only thing that was disappointing was that this memory care unit had a very small courtyard. My dad loves to do yard work but this facility didn't offer much for him to do in the enclosed memory care unit's outdoor area as it only had a tiny grassy area with a few bushes and flowers. Some of the other Brookdales have larger courtyards with trees and larger landscaped areas. That's the only reason I gave a lower score on activities. They do lots of other things with the residents but didn't have the kind of activity available that my dad enjoys. Overall I'm am happy with my choice to place my dad at Brookdale Newport. He seems to have settled in ok and is being well cared for.

Dad has been there just over a year. We have had a few issues with billing but they got resolved. Nurses are very caring. food and activities are well managed. we like the smaller size number of residents. I would not recommend the Cover rehab side. we had several issues when dad had to go there after his hospital stay. we chose another facility for the second hospitalization he had last year as we would not use the rehab side again after our first stay there. You have to keep on top of everything to make sure they are taking proper care of meds, cleaning, etc but we believe that is true of every facility. Overall it has been a good experience.

We recently moved my mother into Brookdale. We are about three weeks in and have been well received in this new community as we step up from Independent Living to Assisted Living. Communication levels have been very good and all personel have been very nice and accomodating. Food is good too!

After visiting many assisted living facilities looking for a future home for my mother, I found that Brookdale Living standards and particularity horizon Bay Lutz offered a community that my mother would enjoy bad benefit from. she was living alone in a small Midwest town, no family nearby and few friends. Mom has been at horizon Bay Lutz for a little over a year and half and I am amazed at the changes in her. She has been able to enjoy life, her new friends, new activities and especially the restaurant style meals. mom did not want to leave her home, but has told me she is glad I encouraged me to move and that Horizon bay lutz is now her home and she is so blessed to have the life she is living. I would recommend Horizon Bay Lutz to anyone looking for a safe, secure and caring facility.

As a professuonal opinion, This is a family oriented facility with a friendly staff. Everytime I go there, there is some sort of activity....whether it be worship, bingo, snack time or a luau. Much thought goes into providing activities and social time for the residents and full accomodations for them, as most are in wheelchairs. There seems to be sincere sense of love shared with the residents by the staff.

We selected Savannah Court in Oviedo FL since it was 15 minutes from our home, had many activities and was an appealing atmosphere. My Mom is adjusting but she wants to return to her home in New York state but we do not think this will be possible since she fell and now has therapy regularly and they have an in house doctor and podiatrist at the facility. They have outings to different lunch places regularly and at Christmas a bus tour was provided to see the Christmas decorations at the University of Central Florida, as well as many musical events and children singing and bringing goodies for the residents. Our main idea about having her in Florida is the easy flying conditions from Colorado for my brother and there are more relatives here in Florida than New York . Hopefully she will adjust better the longer she stays here.

Really nice, but the only room that they had available was not going to be a good situation. It was really tiny room, and her roommate would have been only in her 40's and had had a stroke and couldn't talk clearly. My mom is hard of hearing so they wouldn't have been able to communicate at all. The worst thing was that the bed was so close to the closet that she couldn't have gotten between them with her walker. It's a pretty place with nice people. They gave us a Boston creme pie when we toured!

This is a small facility with around 32 residents. The grounds and facility is beautiful and well kept. The rooms are some of the biggest in the area which is a big plus when down-sizing from a house. Since it is small, there are not as many activities as some other places I visited, but it seems to be sufficient for those living there. My only complaint and the complaint from my Mother who lives there is, the food needs to be healthier. Meat seems to be the largest portion of the meals. Although protein is important, they should concentrate on more vegetables and entree's containing more vegetables. More fruit and healthy items like yogurt should be offered. Less white rice, fried foods, white bread or buns, and chips should be served and more healthy versions should be put in place of those items. Also more fruit based desserts should be offered.

husband was only there for 5 days. cannot give a fair report. he went to hospital with pneumonia and then to a rehab.

My mom loved the two rooms with den and kitchen in one and bedroom in other. There seems to be a lot of turnover. There are times that you may not see any staff at all when you visit. My mother passed in June. I would have tried to move her to another facility. I had to stay on director to get her clothes washed, get her shower, get her room cleaned. She was assessable but it was a constant struggle. My mom would press her necklace and response time would often be more than 15 minutes and often 30 minutes...

Grand Villa was not a good fit for my wife. She needed more care and we transferred to a skilled nursing facility.

Owner is cheapskate repairs only after very many requests. I recommend with caution.

What we like the most about the community is the activities and cleanliness. There is no communication with management and billing. The lady that does the billing ask me what my plan was for my Mom two months after she was gone from the facility. It's a scary thought that someone like that is in charge of billing. I can only imagine of residence that don't have anyone checking on them.
