When mom was in her independent apartment at Gable Pines the food service started out to be ok as months went on it diminished, the chef quit and staff ended up cooking. My mom was not satisfied. When covid came there was a dramatic change, no family member was allowed to see her and we were not informed about how our mother was doing and she was very lonely. Many days they did not even deliver meals to her room. We would not recommend Gable Pines to anyone family who is anticipating a place for their mother. Look for a nonprofit.

The food has gone to good to poor,small ,cheap,poorly prepared dinners!

A previous review has it 100 percent correct with their review. Speak with a medical technician privately on the real story with this place. They are impressive on the outside but on the inside, absolutely horrible. Totally understaffed. Expired medication, and there is a good chance that you will miss getting your medication when you are supposed to get it. Caregivers are understaffed and my relative sat soiled. If your loved one needs assistance or has a history of falls, with the lack of care due to understaffing, there is a real risk of falls. Now, I do know that management treats the employees horribly. It is no wonder why they are understaffed. No one wants to work under these conditions. Do your homework, ask lots of questions to the med staff in private. Management puts on a great show but when you speak privately, you will learn the truth. For the price you are paying, service is sub-par at best. I have nothing but positive things to say about the med technicians but they get no support from management

I would not recommend this place

At first our family believed Cypress Village Assisted Living/Memory Care and Skilled Nursing would be a perfect fit for my parents who are at different levels of care needs. The facility looks impressive but isn’t as great as you may first think. This was our experience. My mother was admitted to their Rehab Center suffering with a variety of issues, including dementia and Urinary Tract infections. After about a week they determined they didn’t want to keep her in Rehab and set to discharge her with a definitive date, with no home to go to or another skilled nursing/Rehab facility lined up. I was traveling out of the country at that time. No other family in Jacksonville. Our whole family was shocked and highly unnerved. I appealed to let her stay for a few more weeks from out of the country as we had also scheduled various tests and specialist appointments at MAYO Clinic in the ensuing weeks. I never got an adequate response other than communicating to other family that they would not extend the discharge date even a few weeks. They reported she was not making sufficient progress in therapy, thus for Medicare reasons, had to discharge her. I believe this was highly misrepresented and is contrary to the 3-4 therapy sessions I personally witnessed right before leaving for my vacation abroad. Other therapists applauded her efforts. Despite her conditions, she was still making strides. Their lack of compassion and reasonableness under the circumstances was ludicrous, unprofessional and insensitive. Thankfully we were immediately able to get her into the Mayo Hospital and then discharged by MAYO to another Rehab. She continues to now make progress under care of a variety of Mayo Specialists who are on a path to change her medications that were determined to be ineffective for several reasons. She’s made great improvement in the last 3 weeks. She’s almost standing alone, walking with a walker and her appetite and mood have improved. How shortsighted Cypress was in not giving our family a reasonable period of time to help her. Do you think a week of therapy is adequate to say Medicare requires us to discharge her since she’s not showing good improvement? How would you feel if this happened to your Mom or Dad? Personally, I wouldn’t send my loved ones to Brookdale Cypress Village. If you do, I caution that this might happen to your loved one.

Expensive and not a high rating

I'm not sold on this place. My Dad is in the skilled nursing unit. Most of the CNA's in this unit are very rude. [name removed] is one of them. When you ask them for something, they tell you they dont have time. They walk in with a scowl on their face and not pleasant to deal with. At 4 am, two CNA's come in, flip on lights without warning to change your loved one. They cut up, laugh loud, and gossip about other employees. When you complain to the supervisor [name removed], that's if you get to talk to her, you're not taken seriously and the CNA doesn't get told anything. It's all smoke and mirrors, the staff isn't any better than other places. There's more to tell, I just dont have the time to tell. Just know that when your loved one is admitted to skilled nursing, please physically check on them daily and be prepared for neglect of your loved ones and putting up with rude staff cause they dont think twice about being sassy or giving dirty looks.

Looks can be deceiving. An excellent and beautiful sales pitch, but make the effort to do your research prior to making the huge investment to join here or enroll your family members here. There are lovely members here but the business practices leave much to be desired.

went downhill when Brookdale living took over. financial department is a disaster. Many mistakes. Never an explanation or apology.

2 years ago I would have rated a 4 overall. The new leadership with [name removed] has diminished the care and safety of senior in assisted living and memory care. She doesn’t listen and worse doesn’t care. Water in gathering room was taken away and none is offered between meals. Laundry and assistance with showers is not done. Very simple tasks. Nurse leaders don’t know residents after two months. Therefore residents are not called by their name. Caregivers are frustrated and have no support. They are very very upset with leadership. There are many high quality places nearby. Please do not place your senior family members at Harbour Village They can change this around with a significant change in leadership beginning with [name removed]. I am sad my parent was here

It was clean and new but it didn’t have a warm homey feel. The hallways were drap and lackluster and long. The community room was very crowded and small. The receptionist was sitting with her winter coat on which gave a very unwelcoming feeling. [Removed] who gave us a tour was very uninteresting, not excited about the place at all and even mentioned that she was looking for a place for a family member elsewhere not a very good endorsement! This is definitely off my list

Nice place way to expensive. Not as much as a homey feeling as the Brookdale.

We toured this community. the staff was nice and they seemed to care about what we needed for mom. The community was clean and the had a lot to offer. The menu was appealing and they offered a list of activities. We did not want a community that was big for my mom.We would recommend the care and value of this community to other families.

There is not enough diversity at this facility my parents would not be comfortable as residents here.

I am not impressed with this place at all. During my tour I had noticed how bad the building had smelled like smoke and I was not impressed with that aspect. It did not tell me that they had smoking aloud inside of the building.

Clarendale is big on promises when visiting and considering residency. Unfortunately, they fail to deliver once you've arrived. They seem to have a very high turnover of employees. Those who work their do not seem to communicate with each other. We constantly get conflicting calls from the facility. It's been a frustrating experience. We had high hopes, but they seem unable to get their act together.

Corporate facility has a lot of red tape and very little room for individual needs! Food was frequently AWFUL and not what my mother requested. Even while in Hospice, Freedom Square talked the talk, but didn't deliver what they promised. My mother passed away in February and her estate wont get reimbursed until June! She paid over $4,000 a month for service and food and didn't receive her monies worth! Do your homework before going to a Brookdale property! It is FOR PROFIT!

Pros: Nice size rooms. Residents I saw seemed happy. Cons: My guide seemed irritated by residents asking to talk to her. There is no security by the door at night, so no one might notice if a person (personal care level) left, if they were not locked on the memory care unit. Head counts of residents in personal care are not conducted. Multiple floors,with elevator travel necessary to move between recreation areas, etc. Not homey (institutional) eating area.

I was not impressed with my tour of this facility. It was not community I would had felt comfortable moving my parents too.

I didn't really have a good feeling about this community. It was not very clean and my tour was quick. I did get to see everything like the rooms and dinning room. I however , didn't get to see interactions between staff and residents. The activities that were offered and the amenities didn't really meet my expectations. My tour overall could have been a little better.
