My family has been very pleased with the service from the nursing staff. The same can't be said for the billing department. Most months we spend trying to get ahold of the finance department due to overcharging and inaccurate bills. Be prepared to make many calls and advocate for your loved ones. Watch every line on the bills.

Our family had an in person tour with Balfour Ann Arbor and this place was other the top. However it did not offer open dining. They had set times for breakfast, lunch & dinner. I think the open dining option offered by [community name removed] is a big selling point. The Balfour had a pool & hot tub. Personally I think that is not a strong selling point. The Balfour is located 1.5 miles from "The Big House" - University of Michigan Football Stadium so lots of traffic. This place catered to highly educated, wealthy clientele. It was a lovely building but geared towards a very small community. Hence the [fee removed] entrance fee.

They need better administration and communication. Better staffing ratios and not using outside agency staffing. Oversight of care staff in the memory care units. They can improve on, compassion and professionalism of the Health and Wellness Director. In addition to, realistic staffing ratio disclosure by sales staff. Better nursing follow through with changes made to resident chart, regarding the doctors orders and prescription changes.

It has gone downhill from what it used to be, and learned level of care with assisted living, is not very good according to friends with loved ones there.

My suggestion for improvement: Provide a better food program! It's unbelievable what service and nasty food they provide. It's cold, small portions, and not enough servers.

Clarendale at Indian Lake looks like a nice place and they had a great sales pitch, but they underdelivered on what they promised. I believed everything they told me during the tour and it could not have been further from the truth. We were only here 4 nights. Before we had even unpacked the caregiver we were working with helped my loved one move and she threw her hands up and said "he is going to need 24/7 care". We were devastated because they told us they would be able to care for him.

First impression was good. They made many promises. Into the 1st week with our father there, it was apparent they put up a nice front. Nurses in memory care are helpful when it is convenient for them. They seemed short staffed, and happy placing patients in the corner sitting in front of tv with them watching soap operas. There is no memory care therapy offered to help patients use their brains. It is basically a slow death for the patients. Very disappointing.

I toured this community and it was not good. The facility wasn't clean and the carpet was dirty. The staff was very friendly, but not a good atmosphere as far as cleanliness. We decided to keep looking.

Richmond Place looks really good on the outside but on the inside it is the total opposite they are all about taking your money it seems like.

On the other tours mom had to be in a wheelchair. At another community she surprised me by being able to walk with her rollator for the whole tour, made us so happy. That's why we chose another community.

The place is not just what it is supposed to be, the people are very nice and they do mean well but they are just not prepared for memory care

My father fell on the second night there and laid for over an hour before someone found him. Also no one reached out to my mother to let her know that my father fell and was transported to the hospital. She got there to visit him and had to ask someone where was her husband. They also did not have all of the medications for my loved one due to when he moved in and how it was set up. They did not get it until the Monday after he moved in.

They say there’s maid service with the cleaners come every other week. They don’t always mop the floors and never clean the countertops. Actually they spend more time standing outside the doors that in the apartment doing their job. When we first moved in the food was a lot better.Portions are a nice size. With some guy from Dallas came in and ran the Director off and things have been going downhill ever since. [name removed] pay $11 for a meal then have to go back to your apartment and fix something else to eat.

Horrible food, wait forever to be served. Meals take over two hours. Staff never get back to you. Do not recommend at all. Go somewhere else.

The number 1 requirement I have is to be bathed everyday. Prior to moving in, we visited many times & had many formal & informal interviews. We repeatedly asked for confirmation that residents can be assisted in bathing everyday. We were told each time that yes, assisted bathing was available everyday, whenever the resident required or requested bathing. That has turned out to be false. Residents are only allowed assisted bathing 2 times per week, no matter the circumstance (illness, toileting accident, etc.). This has been a demoralizing and disappointing turn of events.

I would suggest you keep looking and not waste your money here. They don't represent what they tell you. The food is awful, cold, undercooked, and small portions. They told us that professional chefs would be on staff to cook the food, and they were actual using a service. It feels like a jail, as we aren't able to see our loved ones after 7:30 at night as the doors lock.

It seemed like the memory care unit was an afterthought. I have had friends who moved into independent living section and loved it, the outside space for those residents is great. The outside space for memory care residents on the other hand is all concrete and next to a busy, 4 lane road which is why we decided against this facility.

I have lived here over 18 months. Yes outstanding decor and food. BUT: 1. It has taken over 9 months to repair two safety issues 2. After 18 months pool down for 6 weeks Because heater broke down because of hard water leaving mineral deposits in controls 3. Building not considered secure by Balfour 4. We had to fight and fight just to get a crafts room. This Senior living facility on is on a Small 6 acre lot. 5. Management has taken a strong stance against me and will not answer my questions. They are punishing me. For The questions I ask. 6. In my opinion residents are not Balfour’s customers the investors are the customer 7. The reviews on Balfour’s web site Ann Arbor include 2 employees, 2 outside vendors 5 former employees 8. Employees outstanding but short staffed

Don't believe anything they say on intake. During this process, they did not mention any evaluation and said they said that it was not an issue. Within 24 hours they wanted to send her to the hospital and wanted a psychological evaluation and would not let her come back. They only refunded half of the deposit for only less than 48 hours of care. I would not recommend this community to anyone.

It is a very nice facility but it was just not the right fit for my mom. They were hard to get a hold of and the communication was not the best. They did have really good food and she had no complaints about that. Everything that they promoted and promised was not able to be carried through due to covid so we ended up moving her out.
