Once more people come back to the workforce, this will be a really good place.

I think this has the potential to be a really good place. Currently, there are some things I'm very upset with. They can't get dining service staff to stay on, and I think the management should step in and help at mealtimes. My loved one has often had to wait an hour to get her food. And getting drink refills is next to impossible. When she first moved in, they were supposed to have an exercise room. They had all this equipment in the room, and it was ready to be opened. But it was all the wrong equipment (not suitable for seniors). I understand they're having trouble getting machines. But they still don't have an exercise room now, months later. And that's affecting availability of physical therapy for the residents. My loved one hasn't had anybody to talk to due to Covid restrictions. And she's been really depressed and not doing well. Other than those things, it's a very nice, beautiful place. They have sliding barn doors, which is a great space saver, especially for residents in wheelchairs. That was one of the things that sold me on the community. My loved one likes the food okay, and they have options aside from the regular menu where you can get a sandwich pretty much whenever. They're supposed to have snacks available in the evening, but the times when I've checked it out, there were only a couple of things left and then just single serving cereal boxes down below. But the residents' rooms have a nice refrigerator and sink. If you want a microwave, you can bring one in. And that helps, having that little kitchen area. They have quite a bit of activities, which is good. They really do try. At bingo, you can win $1 tickets, and then periodically they'll bring in things from the dollar store to buy with the tickets, which is cool. They have a movie place, happy hours, a place to play card games, and a really nice back porch. They have nice Klondike rocking chairs on the porch, but my loved one can't get up when she uses them. They really worked with us on cost, which we appreciate. I like that they have call buttons that are worn around the residents' necks, and the staff makes it there in about 5 minutes usually. They will definitely take care of you here. And they're always really nice. The staff take the time to stop and talk to you in the hall, whether it's the care staff or housekeeping, and that makes a big difference. They'll stop and talk with the residents as well. There's a concierge in the front, and there's always somebody there, which is nice. But I'm disappointed that they don't allow kids on the property. Covid aside, that's their general policy. And it would mean a lot to the residents if their grandchildren and great-grandchildren could come and visit.

My review of Renaissance

We chose Renaissance Assisted Living because it was more affordable and it is also closer to family. I do think that they could improve the quality of food that they serve, instead of hotdogs I think they should get homecooked fresh meals more often. I would possibly recommend to others who are looking.

Prior to my dad moving into the facility I want to visit it at different times of the day, mainly unannounced. The residents always looked good. The facility is bright and cheerful, and has no strange smells. The pictures on the walls are appropriate to the age of the residents. The meals that I have seen and eaten are very good. The staff that I've meet is exceptional. They are eager to learn about your family member and take the best care of them that they can!! Our Family Is always greeted by name when we go to visit our Father. Our dad just moved in the beginning of April. The staff has done everything they can to help with the transition to the facility. They encourage us to bring in favorite foods, drinks and snacks. Also, our dad loves to play scrabble and at 93 years of age is a very good player!

Concerns after first 60 days at Legacy Village

Ways that the facility could improve include: 1) clearly communicating What services and amenities are provided before a resident moves in. 2). Hire more staff 3). My mom requires standby assistance for showering and they only have staff to provide her with two showers per week, which is not enough for people like my mom who wear incontinence briefs 24-7 4) not enough outings---not enough opportunities for physical activity We would be gladly willing to pay more money if they would provide my mom with more frequent showers during the week. Families at Legacy Village have to hire third-party companies like Visiting Angels to provide caregivers to come and assist with caregiving that legacy village is not able to provide---due to not having enough staff. 5). An additional concern (regarding safety) is that it's very easy for anyone to walk in to Legacy Village and walk into any of the resident rooms. Visitors sign in at the front desk and then just go into the building. Some of the residents are really friendly, vulnerable, and trusting and they would just leave with some stranger easily. I would also like to add positive feedback: 1) Nursing staff are excellent 2). Overall morale of residents is pleasant and jovial 3). All staff are generous, accommodating, compassionate, caring, and show high levels of initiative. Staff strive to provide individualized needs for each resident 4) Front desk receptionist, [name removed], is organized, ready to assist, and knows all about each resident so she can make them feel welcomed and supported.

The Rennaisance is a beautiful building with good sized apartments. The leadership staff is very friendly and kind. The food is not good. I have tried a lot of it and it is barely edible. Rooms are not cleaned often enough. I usually have to clean a couple of times a week. My family member is just settling in after a couple of months so not sure whether his level of care is

Not the Best Experience

I personally didn't have a good experience for my loved one here. There have been times that the residents haven't received medications. The cleanliness was not the best. The meals and dining have been terrible! The meals are pre-packaged and not the best quality or well balanced. There was a change in administration. It took a bit for the community to find a new Executive Director and things are starting to get better. I'm starting to see a change in the activities now that they have an Activities Manager. They are trying to engage the residents in the activities the community is offering. There is still a high turnover in the community and this is still a concern for me.

Memory Care Review

My mother resides on the memory care floor and as is true for all facilities, the facility is only as good as it's employees, namely the caregivers and nurses. It seems to me that the turnover rate for caregivers is quite high and I imagine it has to do with being underpaid for what they are responsible for. There are some fantastic caregivers here that go above and beyond and then a few that I feel fall short. My biggest criticism about this facility is the food. There is the occasional meal that I have seen served that really shouldn't qualify as a meal (i.e. serving pasta salad and 3 slices of a beet as a dinner). This is not the norm but corporate should take note that this not acceptable meal planning. I have found the staff to be very friendly and the memory care director puts quite a bit of effort into coming up with creative activities. Cleanliness is a constant battle and I feel that they could do a better job in the living units themselves, particularly the bathrooms. All common areas are always well maintained. Overall, I feel that my mother is in a safe environment and for the money value it is fair.

Look at all facilities first

My mother has been at this facility for a little over a year. The staff such as the CNAs and maintenance are wonderful and caring. While I agree that the place is well maintained and very clean I have many concerns for a vulnerable senior that cannot advocate for themselves. Examples that we have encountered are: 1. Two falls that resulted in long response times. In one of the falls my mom remained on the floor w a fractured arm for over 35 mins with no response despite her call bell being activated. She called me at home to tell me that had fallen and needed help getting up. Second fall w no injury with lengthened response time because of an issue w a call bell system. 2. One incidence of the staff giving her another patients medicine because they threw hers away in error. My mom told them it was not her medication and called me. 3. During this COVID pandemic I personally noted a staff member wheeling a pt in the facility with no mask as well as the pt. When I called to discuss they tried to deny it but it was witnessed by another staff member. Once I called it to the persons attention they apologized. On sev occasions I note residents walking the facility w no mask. The response is that trying to get them to wear masks is very difficult. 4. Multiple communication issues w the staff that require me to follow up consistently. My mother was a DNR when she went into the facility which was discussed on arrival. I found out this past week that the paperwork was never signed. It took me several requests to get it done. 5. Long response for answering call bells and requests for pain meds. 6.my mother stated there is just not enough help when she needs it and food is a consistent complaint. 7. When my mom moved in they never disclosed they have a catered living rate that is 1000.00 less. My mom found out about it from other residents. When I requested the rate she was given the rate but I felt it was very underhanded not to discuss this or offer it at her entrance. I called the State and had a meeting with the facility sev months ago. Things change for a few weeks and go back to normal. I get tired of the inconsistency. My mom does not want to leave because of her friends. I can’t relax or feel comfortable she is taken care of. I have to follow up on practically everything.

Poor food

First of all I want to say that the staff at Main Street are wonderful. From my perspective, there seems to be low staff turnover. My family member has established close bonds with the nursing staff as well as the other assistants. My family member has made friends and is happy. However, there is an ongoing problem with the food preparation and food quality. It shouldn't be hard to prepare tasty, nutritious meals. There are other assisted living facilities who serve delicious food, and Main Street can do it too. Management needs to decide to aggressively address this long-standing problem. The people who live at this facility deserve to enjoy their meals.

I was not impressed with the tour they gave me. I requested to see the Memory Care, our need, and I was shown everywhere else through the community. I was unsure of where my loved one would be at and the little things like interaction and environment would not have worked out for us or did not meet our needs.

Disappointed..

I was happy with them until she passed. They owed me money and kept that too. My loved one was only there for 6 days. They charged me for the rest of the month. They couldn't find any of her stuff. I haven't heard anything back. I think I would of been happy with them until she died. I'm disappointed. They said they would at least contact me. It's been 2 months and haven't heard anything. Overall, I'm disappointed.
