This is one of the places we looked at when we were searching. It was neat and clean and pretty nice. I was worried about my mom running out of money and having nowhere to go after that. I also just really clicked with the director at another facility.

It was a very good experience we had with Isle at Watercrest. Mark Terry, the administrator, worked with us quite extensively. The people were all very accommodating and helpful with everything. In the end we needed more of a nursing home type facility, and Isle at Watercrest was not adequately staffed to provide the sort of 24 hour care that mom needed. For that reason alone she was only there for a week, but from my experience during that time I have nothing but praise for them.

Good personal care by friendly staff. Facility requires continued maintenance.

We have had a problem the first week of occupancy with room cleaning and laundry. They were "short staffed" and did not wash Mrs. Stanton's laundry for over a week (she is in extended care). Her shared bathroom has flooded and they are changing some type of seal. Her room door sticks and makes a loud crack when opened. Staff have worked on it but it still cracks. The sliding door to her closet came off the hinges but was repaired timely. Food has been great. Personal services have also been great and meet Mrs. Stanton's needs. She likes the staff and finds them friendly and helpful.

That is something that you have to be at a certain level of assisted living to fit. Dad required a little bit more care at that time. It was about the same distance from me as the one I chose but there was no level of care to graduate to. Other than that it was very very nice and extremely clean. It's a new facility. It hasn't been here but 4 or 5 years so of course it's going to seem more pristine and new. I liked it. It felt more private, almost like a luxury hotel. The staff seemed to be really friendly there when I went to visit.

This came in second. It's great. It's new and they have granite counter tops and a really big, full kitchen. They have an indoor pool and an outdoor pool and a hot tub. Very pricey but good at keeping people active.

Very pricey! My mother is here and they charge a $200fee to help get her out of the bed and take her to the bathroom, which I herd from others that a lot of the time she has to get herself up. Worried that they might be charging for things that aren’t being done. Very good at getting my mother involved in activities and she’s not easy to please. The location is close to me and my family. Very nice scenery and she loves the food.

Our experience

We love the look of the facility. It’s nicely furnished and our loved one’s apartment was fresh, clean and up to date when she moved in. Breakfast and lunch are served in the dining room. They only offer dinner in your apartment, through a special program at additional cost, but we wished dinner was offered in the dining room for all. They also don’t serve meals on Christmas or Thanksgiving Day. Much of the food served is delicious, but could use more variety. The Bistro is a nice place to meet. My loved one enjoys the free Happy Hour once a week. Residents can buy wine/beer on other days the Bistro is open. Watermere sometimes has entertainment and celebrates holiday with fun events. They have plenty of physical, arts and social activities provided for the residents, and plan visits to other restaurants and places of interest. There is a salon on the premises, which appointments book up quickly and transportation is provided for scheduled appointments. They have a good apartment cleaning service for residents and maintenance has been responsive to any needs. However, sometimes the elevators are broken and they seem to take a while to get repaired, which can make seniors nervous, especially for ones who use a walker or wheelchair and live on the upper floors. The facility has lost power several times - and we were disappointed to learn they do not have generators. External doors are locked at 8pm and residents use fobs to enter. For added security, we wish they had someone manning the front desk 24/7, and had a more thorough visitor check-in process with ID, like other similar places. Despite some issues, the value for the money is great compared to other nearby independents living facilities.

Comfortable location

We chose Watercrest at Kingwood because of the floor plan and the location of the facility. I always thought that the breakfast was too early, especially for seniors who have to use walkers to get down to get down to get their food, it was just not enough time so we did not take full advantage. Overall, it is a very comfortable location, it is very close to shopping centers and restaurants. They also do offer a lot of activities for residents. I would recommend it to others.

Village at Watercrest

I live in the Village, not in the "Big House". Let me make it perfectly clear: I am pleased with my choice of Watercrest Katy. But: When we made the initial visit, we got the idea that this was an "active senior" complex. After awhile it became clear that most residents are not as active as anticipated. It appears there are lot of residents that require walkers wheelchairs and scooters as they are not able to walk without assistance. It is difficult to attend a large gathering without walking thru a maze of these devices. I understand they will accept hospice treated residents. These are definitely not active! When we chose Watercrest Katy, we wanted a place where we could meet people close to our ages (80's) and participate in activities. The first was accomplished, the second not so much. As an example, I wanted to do Tai Chi but the only sessions are done setting down. I have witnessed Tai Chi in many countries and local places, but is has always been done standing. Hmmmmm When activities are done for limited participants, a signup is required.. The signup is in the "big House" which makes it difficult for Villagers to signup easily. Maybe electronic signups?? Hmmmm The landscaping in the Village was in good shape when we first visited but now (June 2019) it is deplorable. The flower/bush beds are overgrown, filled with weeds and needs mulching as well as more attention. Exterior painting, on doors, garage doors, railings, gates and outside trim needs attention. I am confident that in due time all of these can/will be rectified.

Unfortunately this wasn't the right place for her but I gave it 3 stars. They had lots of activities here but mom just felt like and kept saying she wouldn't be able to keep up here. Nursing Care Need Improvement, But Mom Is Doing Well Overall

My mother is doing well since her move to this community. I do feel she is safe, but at this moment I'am not satisfied with the nursing care. They have a high turn over rate with their care givers. They need to hire better quality care givers. There is room for improvement in the nursing care they provide. Other that those issues everything else is going well. My mother has adjusted well to this community, and she fits in quite well. They have an amazing activities director, they have lovely activities, and entertainment. The dining experience is awesome, and the food is great. The lady's at the front desk are excellent. This is a nice community, hopefully they can pick up the slack with their nursing care.
