It's clean and the people are nice. The meals are not as good as they used to be. There are some new staff, and it can be cold by the time it gets there. Perhaps a little more training for the new staff would be helpful. Overall we are pretty satisfied with them.

They are phenomenal. They are clean and the staff are friendly. We chose them based on the value. I have had quite a few dinners there, and the food was lovely. They have plenty of choices. The only critique is that they only have one elevator, and you can't move in during breakfast lunch or dinner, and there is always someone wanting to go up the elevator. I would move my parents into there, and I would go myself, tomorrow, if I could. The people who take care of the place, live here so they know the routine, they know if someone doesn't show for breakfast.

Mom loves it. It was the first place we looked at, and we signed up that day. It was nice and she likes it. When we first got there the food was fabulous, there was a decline after a while, but it's picking up now. They offer plenty of activities and entertainment. I can phone down there at any time, and if I ask something they are right on top of it.

We are really happy with Andover Place. My mom loves the social aspects of being around the other residents. Mom feels feels very at home and comfortable here. I am very please with how things are going.

The staff is very friendly. The food is above average and for the money it is a good value. The medical assistance care has at times been disappointing, but they work to improve it. The property shows it's age at times, but for the cost it represents a good value.

Very friendly, active community

Copley Place can improve on their meals and the times they serve the meals, especially their breakfast. I think it is a little too early. I also think they could use more elevators, the only have one in the whole building.

It's been fine. We don't have any major complaints so far. I would give them a four out of five. I can't really think of anything that stands out about them.

We're very pleased with how things have gone at Canyon Meadows! The staff here is very personable, and they really make a point to get to know each resident and their individual needs. It's a very friendly place! I would recommend them, especially to anyone whose loved one has any special needs that might need a little extra attention or accommodation.

They are really personable. They make it feel like a family atmosphere. The food is good. The activities director is going to be leaving, and another is coming on board so we are a little anxious about that, because the person who is coming on board was previously in the kitchen. So it's an advancement for that person, which I thought was nice. Right now their doctor appointments can only be on certain days and I wish it could include more days. She has a very nice place.

The only gripe I have is that when I initially talked to them they neglected to tell me about a hefty initiation fee. Also the initial cost we agreed on was raised whenever we signed the contract. Other than that the place is nice, the people are nice, but it seems that once you agree to a price one time, they change it the next.

Everything about Golden Oaks has been great. It is a nice place with very friendly helpful staff and I would highly recommend them.

I think everything was okay. They were not real friendly at first, but it is getting better. My loved one is not real crazy about the food, but I realize it is hard to satisfy everyone with that large of a group.

I think Genesee Gardens is a nice place, overall. The people here seem friendly, and the facility itself is well kept and clean. They seem to have a good amount of activities and events that they offer (although my loved one mostly keeps to himself at this point.)

My mother has been at Quail Run Estates for 5 years. She has been in a few different apartments including the cottage and 2 bedroom unit until her sister passed away. Currently the staff is great! It can vary from time to time as managers or chefs move. There is plenty of entertainment from the community. The building is maintained pretty well and any conditions are fixed in appropriate time. There is Caring Solutions that provide a la carte services with certified nurse assistants. They have an office on site so that many residents can receive services. Since that office was set up, those services improved tremendously. The apartments are generally larger in Quail Run than in assisted living places. My mother has severe dementia and requires about half of the timed services that an assisted facility includes. So I am still realizing a savings. Things to consider between independent and assisted living. The State of Massachusetts licensure does not include visiting RNs in independent or assisted. It is a state issue and not related to the facility. The issue is with injectable medications that a CRN is not allowed do. They can only supervise medications and the resident must complete the injection. Costs may seem expensive but when the alternative is assisted living starting at $3200 per month for a very tiny room with no extra space for a second person to live in that room, there is much more value here. I read some comments about Norovirus at other facilities. It should not reflect upon the building or the staff. That stuff begins with a sick resident who rapidly spreads it through the building since the resident may not "feel" that their illness is contageous. Yes it has happened before and the staff takes the recommended precautions and cleaning when it occurs.

Activities seem to focus on card games. They recently had an outing to the horse races. They do have music based activities through out the month. More outings to community concerts, plays, would be nice. There is a lot of free and low cost events at the high schools and colleges in the area. A suggestion on meals: rolls and breads are always white flour. I have heard several people comment on no whole wheat breads. This seems odd when planning meals for an older population. Occasionally some food items are heavily salted, but overall menus are tasty. My parents are happy at Valencia Commons and are having more social opportunities than when they lived alone. Have not used care services so gave a neutral score.

My mother has only been at Montara Meadows for about a month or so. She was previously at Atria and just recently moved here. For the most part everything has been good. The facility is nice and clean, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My mothers only complaint has been with the food. Other than that everything is going well so far.

We really like it. My grandma is really enjoying herself. The food is great. She raves about the food. Everybody has been very welcoming to her. The only complaint is that she is suppose to have a phone set up but they have not set it up yet. Everything else has been great. Everyone is very nice and friendly. The friendliness is excellent. The Illahee Hills is a very nice community with friendly people.

It's a safe environment. It's a beautiful place. The staff here is unbelievable, they are the greatest people I have ever met. The caretakers are just amazing. The food is not gourmet, but it's fine, I have eaten it before.

My mother moved to Hartland Hills from another, more expensive, independent living facility in Lexington. In the short time she has been there, she has found HH to be a friendlier, less institutional place. Rather than two meals a day, she has the option of three. Managers are on site at all times, so it is much easier to get repairs made or ask for assistance--no forms to be filled out or waiting forever. On the con side, the only transportation provided is a bus which is not handicap-friendly. There are no cars to take residents to appointments if they do not drive. Mother is much happier in her apartment here which has the light she has been missing. I know once she gets everything in place and her pictures on the wall, she will be overjoyed and glad she made the move--which when you are 94 years old can be very stressful!
