Everyone was very friendly; residents were recognized by name and spoken to personally by Janine. the facility is nice, but is undergoing major renovation. The outdoor work is to be done by the end of July. Inside, all halls and rooms will be renovated. We liked the facility; it seems like a nice place which will only improve once renovations are done.

I like it very much. My mother is comfortable here. They seem to be on top of her health. The reason why I rated the senior commons four stars overall is because of the communication. I was disappointed when my mom was suppose to participate in an outing and they forgot about her. It would be nice for them to be more proactive with me. Other than that, It has been great. It's a really nice community.

Its a nice place. I think some of the assisted places prices are high. They put your loved one in different levels and you pay different prices. It's nice but I wish it wasn't that expensive. The facility itself is very clean and well kept. They have a variety of activities. The staff and residents seem friendly. I would recommend the Senior Commons at Powder Mill to anyone looking for assisted living.

We visited this community while looking into care options for a loved one. We did not take an in-depth look at The Birches, as they were full during the time of our search, but they did seem to be a nice place overall, and worth a look for other families looking into care in the area!

I looked at 12 different assisted living places before selecting Spring Meadows for my mother and father. Spring Meadows is currently undergoing a 4 million dollar renovation. It is also under new management and has hired some innovative, visionary individuals to ensure that top notch care is provided to all of the elderly so that they can thrive and live life to their fullest. They also provide quality activities. At each meal the residences have a choice of two selections. The food is good. What I like most, is the comprehensive care that is offered to all of their residences. Unlike many of the other assisted living places that I looked at that charge any where from $500 to $2500 dollars extra for levels of care fees and $200 to $500 for medication management fees these are included in the monthly payments. My mom is able to continue to participate in physical therapy - that is housed in Spring Meadows, that she began in a Skilled Nursing rehab, when she was discharged from the hospital. Spring Meadows provides an opportunity for seniors who might often end up in nursing homes (because they need constant care and attention) to live a life of in a community that provides enriching and engaging experiences. It is under construction, still works as a fun center. Rooms are a little smaller than most however if s larger room is chosen it is still less money and comparable in size.

Everything has been smooth, and we are happy there. It's very clean and the staff is very friendly, and they will help out if she needs help with anything, even though she is independent. The food is good, and no complaints about that, we really are happy with them.

Clean and inviting. This winter the fireplace is always a warm welcome when you arrive. The activities and services are good match for my M-I-L. Food seems good (as if you can ever satisfy everyone on this count!). Only complaint so far is the limited parking. Have had two occasions where I was unable to visit because there was actually no place at or near the facility to park.

I loved the facility. My only con is the location in Reading. It didn't feel like a safe area to me.

Staff is supportive and compasinate. Rooms are kept 100% clean everyday, housekeepers and laundry are A+. My father loves the food and waite staff. Can't wait for renovations to be finished.

In terms of what they have done well: They offer a very home-like environment, and work very hard to offer a diverse range of activites. Where they could improve: The level of privacy they give people. They tend, in my opinion, to invade peoples privacy more than they should. For example, they come at 6:00am to get the laundry, and many residents would rather sleep in later than that if they could. Overall I have been very pleased. Both my aunt and her significant other have settled in quite nicely.

Beautiful facility - I thought the tour was informative. I feel this facility is too large for my mom to navigate.

Nice place. It seems a bit more geared to independent living. They started as independent and ar trying to fit personal care into the community. A little more costly than some of the others that I've looked at but apartments are larger.

Overall our experience with Senior Commons at Powder Mill has been a good one! Everybody has been extremely friendly, and always very helpful. One aspect of that I would like to see them improve is the coordination and communication in relation to medications. It is a very time consuming process to get even over the counter medications approved, and requires multiple rounds of back and forth between the community and your doctors.

Overall things have gone well at Manor at Market Square! They do a good job keeping things clean, and the staff all seem very friendly. I also really like how their dining room is set up. It's almost like a restaurant, you order the food you want off of a menu of a few different selections, and the food itself is delicious! The one negative experience we've had is relating to my loved one living in a shared room. She doesn't mind having a roommate, but when the current person moved in they rearranged all the furniture without consulting my Mom at all, which didn't make her feel very at home in the room.

When I first began searching for a place for my parents, Chancellor's Village wasn't even a consideration. If it weren't for Carol Hull at A Place for Mom, I would never have visited it. I am forever grateful to Carol because Chancellor's Village is a true gem. Of all the places I took my parents, CV was the most warm and welcoming - both by staff members and the actual facility. Everyone helped us through the process of applying and worked with us to find the best apartment and move in date to suit my parent. CV is bright, cheerful, and full of friendly people. My parents have only been there a few days but I know they will love their new home and friends.

Mom and Dad are a little shy. I was worried they'd continue to feel isolated while living at Traditions of Hershey, as they had while in their own home. But the staff is amazing. They're constantly at the door of their apartment telling them about some event that is about to start and digging them out of their safety zone. Mom has become much more animated and engaged in life. She's constantly talking about this new friend or that fun event. I had to laugh when Dad told me he didn't have time to talk - they were headed down to happy hour! Our family is very pleased!

So far our experience with The Birches at Newtown has been a big improvement from the facility our loved one was at previously! It's a very attractive, clean facility, and they have put a lot of effort into giving a warm homey feel. The community has a nice family atmosphere, the staff are warm and friendly and encourage that same attitude in the residents. All that being said, they are a very new community, and they've got a few kinks and organizational difficulties to work out, some aspects of the community just don't seem well thought out. The most glaring example I can think of is that the doors to the residents rooms can be locked just by pressing a button on the inside doorknob. Since this is a memory care community this means residents are constantly leaving their rooms without their keys and locking themselves out! They also have constant problems with the laundry service. And another big aspect that has started really negatively influencing the feel of the community is that recently they have started to get some aggressive memory care residents, and they do not control them well. But overall this is a nice place. The staff do their best and are always happy to help. and I'm sure some of these difficulties will improve over time.

I think the facility size is good, in that the residents have enough of a homelike atmosphere without it feeling too large and overwhelming. Some of the communication early on could have been handled better, in terms of who was going to be handling ongoing medical affairs or who would be ordering medications. They have good activities, though some of the activities are not good for those with vision limitations, and a lot of elderly people have vision issues. The food looks good, and seems well balanced. Unlike some of the other communities that we looked at, they are open to bringing in snacks the resident might like to have.

We're very satisfied with the service here, I feel like they do a good job overall. It is a nice looking facility, and they always keep it very clean. The staff have always been very friendly and professional, and provide good care. I also think they do an excellent job with the activities, and keeping the residents involved and active.
