Excellent place for your loved one!

My husband lived at Heritage Green for his final 2 years in the memory care unit. From the first day I visited I found the facilities clean and the staff friendly. I visited almost every day and the facilities continued to be clean and the staff friendly but also caring and compassionate. The staff, residents and their families became our family and support. With the help of hospice he was well cared for until his final hour. I would highly recommend Heritage Green to anyone looking for memory care in this area. Their newly renovated and added construction make it a beautiful place to live and visit.

Happy to be here.

We looked at several places for mom in the area. She always wanted Traditions of Hanover. When the time finally arrived she got cold feet and did not want to move. After we talked her into it reluctantly and against other family members concerns, she has fallen in love with her apartment. Even our out of state family that thought it was not a great idea to move mom here, has agreed this was the best thing for her after they stayed there a few times in her apartment. Her standard answer whenever anyone asks if she is happy there; "Had I know it was this nice I would have moved here years ago." The entire staff are all very good at what they do. Helpful and friendly. Building is clean and well maintained. Meals are good and activities are the best we have seen for a place like this.

The Birches

I will soon celebrate a year living in this facility. I have found all areas covered to be more than adequate. As with any similar facility there are times when residents need to be more aware of their surroundings and report problems when they see them. Any deficiencies I have reported have been promptly corrected. The maintenance staff is very good and work orders are carried out in a reasonable amount of time. Activities are many and varied. They strive to cover a great range of interests so all residents are continually challenged to do better as far as memory and mobility are concerned, The menu provided is varied. The Chef meets with residents once a month and listens to suggestions. Many suggestions have been implemented, and changes made for the satisfaction of the residents. The Senior Staff also are open to suggestions and consider changes when they are beneficial for all. I have been happy with the services here.

Living at Traditions of Hanover

It is almost 4 years since I moved into Traditons of Hanover. It ia the best decision I made for myself. I checked out several other places before I came here. When I was trying to find a new home close to my family, they all came with me. My grandsons are EMTs with East Allen Township Ambulance Corps. They have been in many of the areas Independent and Assisted Living residences. They gave each one the third degree about saftey features and procedures. Traditions passed with flying colors. When I walked into Traditions for the first time with my daughter, I said, "This feels like home." The food from the dining room smelled and tasted delicious. The residents were all talking, laughing and enjoying each other's company. My daughter went over to several tables and asked the residents if this was a place that she would be comfortable with her mother living here. Everyone of them said yes. They were right. Traditions has so many activities and programs you can be out of your apartent the entire day if you choose. If you want excercise, they have 5 different kinds: Zumba Gold, Balance,Strength and Mobility, Chair Arobics and Chair Yoga. I could write an entire page talking about the activities, but I won't. I'll just say they have, art classes, jewelery making classes with beads, a writing group, card games, trips to shopping centers, Happy Hours with great entertainment and so much more. Come join our community, all are welcome.

A culture of care and service

It is easy to rate Traditions with 5 stars because the environment has been nothing but uplifting. It was difficult to get our 90 year old mother to agree to a move but the kindness, care and concern that the staff showed guided us and eased her into the transition. When asking our Mom now if she likes her new home, her response is "What is there not to like!". When visiting Traditions, what immediately stands out are the residents you meet on the porch, in the halls and on the elevators who are all pleasant, helpful and friendly. I view it as a culture that starts with the director and all of her staff who are amazingly kind and friendly. It is a model organization where great customer service given by people who sincerely care creates a positive environment for all. In terms of the apartments, food, activities, and amenities--they are all great and that is what keeps everyone smiling!

Mom is "Home" at ToH!

When my mom was in search of an Independent Community in the Lehigh Valley, we visited Traditions of Hanover, among other places. What set ToH aside from the others was the warm and oh-so-welcoming feeling we both had, right from the start. We were made to feel right at home - not just by the staff, but by the residents. The sales person that met with us barely had to say a word to us... the residents themselves kept coming up to us telling us about their experiences since moving to ToH. Now... over 3 years later... my mom still says that moving here was the best decision she's ever made. She is never bored, never lonely, never hungry (the food is AMAZING!), and never feels even for a second upset about living here. The staff is incredible (from the young gals who help out at meal time and cleaning to the top management) – they all truly care about the residents. I’ve not met a single staffer that thinks of their duties there as a “job”. She loves living there, but from my perspective, I’m so very grateful for Traditions of Hanover and the positive experience they’ve provided for my mom after having to leave her home of over 50 years.

The Birches of Newtown

The Birches in Newtown is a wonderful facility with great caregivers. My aunt elderly aunt (97) resided there a short time, but during that time she was well-cared for and I was kept informed always as to how she was doing. She seemed very happy there and even with her poor memory (dementia), she was included in activities and made to feel important and treated with dignity. I live a distance from Newtown, PA, but felt comfortable leaving here there, knowing she was being well taken care of.

Mom's Friendly New Place

When Mom was beginning to have loneliness issues at her residence in Florida, I moved her to Chancellors Village (CV) to be closer to me. The warmth and friendliness of the staff and her new neighbors was better than we could have imagined--much nicer staff and neighbors than her place in Clearwater (and they were very nice too). The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff is attentive to her and my needs in terms of a safe, comfortable place and asking what else needs to be done and so forth. She is doing extremely well at 94. We just hope management does a better job next time selecting the vehicle to transport the residents--tough for a 94 year old to climb into that old bus--but Mom does it and often (really, really nice men who drive the buses and who really help her get on and off)!!! She takes advantage of the many trips and shows that CV offers in the area plus shopping. She loves getting out and CV gives her that option. Plus, we like having dinner there with her. Really nice dining area and everyone is just so polite and friendly. The staff all knows Mom by name. She likes that!!! Glad she is at CV. What a comfort!

Mom's place

After visiting and dining at other local establishments, I selected Chancellors Village for mother, later recommended to and now also enjoyed by our prior neighbor. Chancellor's Village is hands down the best independent care facility in the Fredericksburg area. Mom, age 96, continued her passions for music by joining the choir, her passion for gardening with prepared resident plots, and enjoyment of family by winning the Halloween contest with children from the surrounding area. That is just one of continuing programs that visited. Outings included trips to the wonderful Marine Museum, theater/concerts and the more casual - Yoder's Market complete with small animals. The maintenance staff showered immediate and continued support to make her feel welcome to the nth detail. A hand selected ambassador helped mom learn the ropes. Rooms provide the most bang for the dollar. Computer classes are not mentioned in the site video which tells more. Outside the dining room doors actual serving selections wet the residents' appetite while resident provided music is enjoyed in the waiting area. The chef catered to my visiting brother's sever health needs upon his visit. Not enough praise can be bestowed for his compassion. Space, food, staff, opportunities, setting, transportation, cost and resident caliber are unsurpassed. I'd give a 4.5 star recommendation if allowed. There will be no remorse if you stop for a visit. Bet you stay.

Quality is King

They could use a little more activities and they could expand the activities. After meeting them I was impressed with community. Comparing it to another community I had viewed there was a huge difference in the quality of the help, the services. Traditions really truly care about its residents. Dad is very happy with the food, there is a variety and the quality of the food is great. Located in a very quiet neighborhood, with a medical facility right across the street. There is a grocery market within walking distance with a pharmacy that delivers.

Our family's experience

There are two employees that need to be trained on how to handle dementia patients. I have been there personally one time when they weren't treating my father very kindly. I did tell them about that. My father loves the food they serve which is wonderful! The place is extremely clean which is nice. My father will be dressed in the same clothes for days even though we have plenty of clothing for him in his dressers! We have pajamas for him to wear at bedtime but apparently that's too much trouble for them to change him. I have been there when my father was able to dress himself but his pants & shirts were on inside out. The aides never fixed his clothing. Dignity!! Half the time his dentures aren't in his mouth even though I left a note in him room to make he wears them every day. When his dentures aren't in his mouth they are sitting in a container with no cleaner, dry as can be. What about his dignity? My father wouldn't be caught dead without his dentures in! Most of the employees are very kind and friendly. Like I said before, there are two employees who desperately need training. Over all the place is nice. There aren't nurses there like they have in other places. They have what you call "med teks" who distribute medication to the patients and call 911 if they need to which is a huge downside to this place. Overall, my father is okay there. No place is perfect but The Birches really need to step up about making sure the patients have their dignity.
