Great place that made my mom feel welcome. Nice facility where you can add care as needed. Lots of great activities to participate in. Grounds are very clean and allow for easy walks. Pets are welcome and also appreciated.

During our visit we noticed right away how friendly many of the residents were and how much they like it there. Many of whom have been there 4+ years. My concern regarding my mother was how she would adjust after living in the same community and home for 55 years. She’s now been there two months and is absolutely loving it. Before, she was sitting at home alone most days except for church twice a week. She also used to stress about what to buy a the grocery. She seemed to never really know what she wanted. Now she’s out of her apartment 3-4 times a day for meals. Often trying and enjoying foods she’s never had before. She loves playing bingo, beach ball volleyball as well as Tai Chi once a week. They have church services a hair salon. She’s also participates in the occupational and physical therapy. She’s eating better, lost weight which has been good for her hip issues. She’s happier than she’s been in years. I’ve said several times we should have made this decision a few years ago.

We are just glad we found you guys to help us find this place. It was just what I was looking for.

The experience is excellent. We picked this community because of the convenience and cost.

Very helpful and kind people. The facility is very clean. Mom tends to feel sorry for her cleaning person (because she feels she's overwhelmed) and tells her not to do a thorough cleaning some weeks. Of course this employee follows instructions and does the bare minimum. I wish they would insist on doing their job more completely, but it's mostly my mother's fault. All staff have been extremely friendly! She loves[name removed], the activities director! She hasn't required much assistance, but when we have requested they bring her meals, they have been very accommodating. My wife and I have eaten there many times and have found the food to be very good! My mother claims they serve catfish too often and she refuses to go down for that meal, even though we remind her that there are several other options. She's just difficult. The food and dining service are great! I'm impressed with the number and variety of activities offered. The price seems very fair for what's included, based on my limited research of similar facilities.

For meals, sometimes the food portions are too small. Many people like that, but I eat a lot. There are many different activities. The value for cost is excellent.

I would say 5 for everything except I would give administrative staff a 4 because they have had so much turnover this past year (managers are great but they can't seem to keep assistant managers). Also food is a 4, my dad likes a lot of it but definitely has some pretty bad meals sometimes. I really like how this is the perfect fit in between independent and assisted living. My dad is independent but they have 24 hr on site staff, pull cords etc for things like middle of the night health issues, which he has used a couple of times. Otherwise he doesn't need help with daily care. But there are also people there who do require daily help which is provided by outside resources. I know if the day comes that he needs more help he won't have to move. Also the staff seems very caring. Overall he is very happy there and feels at home. The place is not modern or fancy but that is what felt more like home to him.

We would give a 5 on all of these. My parents love the community, the staff, and the other residents. The dining staff and chef are friendly and accommodating. The chef seems to hold a "ask and you shall receive" mentality to his menus and receives feedback well even if it's a bit critical (as some folks have lost their filter). The management staff is influx right now but the new people seem to be as friendly and helpful as the previous staff. So keeping our fingers crossed that they remain that way. My father had a slight medical issue recently and they were quick to step up and help my mom until I could get there. Hawthorne management has been doing maintenance to update some issues which has been nice to see. All in all it's been a good fit for my parents and I feel comfortable with their safety.

My parents were hesitant to move out of their townhome and into an independent living facility until they walked into Cypress Springs. The residents and staff were very friendly and caring from that first visit. The building is up to date and light filled. My parents moved two and a half months ago and now look forward to going to each meal for the delicious food and the conversations with other residents. They have also enjoyed some of the activities. The staff was very responsive and helpful when my mother fell and at other times when they have needed assistance. We are grateful they have found a place to live that is so supportive, comfortable, and has a nice sense of community.

My 90 year old mother was very apprehensive about leaving her home. After touring this beautiful facility, she fell in love with it. Everyone has been so friendly and kind to her. She has found her new tribe.

100% 5 all across the board! It was a little adjustment at first but she now has made some very good friends and is now much happier. They are very nice. It has so many things to do; games, exercising, movies, computers, books, good food, and soft serve ice cream and popcorn anytime of the day or night. It's just wonderful!!! They also have live-in managers so it is very safe and I would definitely recommend this community to other families!

Gracious employees...wonderful food. My only concern is that there is no outside area for activities. A nature walkway would be terrific. Ivdo walk around the building. They have a movie theater, and a huge activity room. Their Activity Director is the best.

Great! It's very independent living and if you need support for a parent in the near future, it may not be the best place. I'd say it has great people and kind people

From the moment I learned the residents voted to move their main meal to noon, I knew this place was different, listening to the residents. There is no institutional feel. The food is very good. The emphasis is on social connections.

This facility has everything a senior could want...pool, library, full kitchen (not in the individual units), pool table, hair salon, shuttle to Dr visits and shopping, walkway around a pond, dining room with made from scratch meals, etc. It's a little on the pricey side but the amenities are great

My husband and I were looking for an independent living facility for my aunt and uncle and toured many facilities in the Portland area. My aunt and uncle were reluctant to leave their home, but once they toured this place and met the staff, they didn’t want to see another option. This was the only place they toured! Luckily, the perfect floor plan apartment was coming available and there would be no wait. They are happy, settling in and are more social than they have been in years, while still having their own place. They have a car and able to drive, so they haven’t taken advantage of all the services available, but as a family member, I am grateful to know that the services are there when needed. The Ashton staff also supports an “aging in place” philosophy, which is great!

Great place for retirement living with a la carte services if you need them. Cheaper than most places because they don't have advanced levels of care. The managers and staff have been friendly and helpful.

Great and welcoming staff. They went above and beyond for my mother when EMTs had to respond to her need for ambulance service to the hospital, twice. They followed up with her upon her return to Steeplechase providing support where needed and requested. Mom has been there 4 months. No issues to date.

I like the staff. The place has a very personal feel. They all know my loved oneand care about his needs. They go above and beyond for him, especially with helping to transport him to his weekly medical appointments. And the place is nestled in a beautiful woodsy suburb of Raleigh, NC.
