It was definitely not what we thought it would be. Very disappointed. Every meal took 1.5 hours. Took way too long for apartment issues to be addressed. Did not listen to tenants suggestions related to meals, etc. The facility needs more than one elevator. Balcony was filthy when we moved my mother in and it was never cleaned. I think the staff plays too many roles. I came every week to do my mothers laundry and I could never use the laundry room across the hall from my mothers apartment, first because it only had one working washer then the housekeeping had to use those washers and dryers so I had to walk all the way down the hall to use the other laundry room. When paying nearly [fee removed] a month the tenants should be able to use the laundry room closest to their apartment and when it is convenient for the tenants and or family members. I would not recommend this independent living facility. The activities were not what we expected them to be.

The new management of this place do not care for their residents at all ,is all they care about is money and have raised the rent to unaffordable rates for the average senior no matter how long you have been a resident. My stepfather and his wife live here and she fractured her back and has been in the hospital for a month. She is the one who takes care of the finances and pays the bills he doesn’t have a clue how to go about this. So instead of understanding his situation and waiting until she is back home they served him with an eviction notice to add to his already stressful situation. He is 86 years old , cannot drive and uses a walker, and is a veteran. I would never recommend this retirement complex to anyone!

It has gotten so dirty . I just walked out and the hallway was filthy with potty chairs, paint cans, mud on floor, old stereo equpiment. What happened to Northridge? This used be a wonderful, clean and exciting place. I visit once in a while and I can't believe the changes in the recent months. These residents deserve so much more.

My mother in law has been a resident almost 1 1/2 years. Overall lot of nice things about the facility. But in this recent heat wave and numerous complaints to management by her and my wife (her daughter) we cannot seem to get her AC fixed. This is unacceptable. Especially when she pays over $[removed] a month to live there. Staff has looked at it a couple times and done things like unplugged and replugged it, cleaned ice off of it. It’s still over 80 degrees in her apartment. It needs FIXED.

Food substandard constantly. Served cool to cold most times. Management does not care or is inept and unqualified for the job. Very disappointing….. be aware of total misrepresentation when viewing facility.

The manager and assistant manager do not help either the staff or the residents. For example, we wait over an hour to be served meals. While they are under staffed, the manager and assistant manager are supposed to lend a hand, but they don’t. The food is sub par. I ordered the scrambled eggs and they’re runny and raw. I ordered the banana muffins and they’re served yellow and under cooked. I ordered the burger and it is like a hokey puck. The chicken is rubbery and the fish is under cooked. The cleaning staff is very good. The maintenance staff are quite good and fast. They activities offered her a good, so is the library. But, in my opinion, the food is an edible and manager staff is [name removed] in route to the residence.

They have people work there that won’t take care of the residents! They take the money and no services ! Bad place! They are trash! To put it mildly! Would never recommend this place! Thanks for your concerns!

Parkrose Chateau ownership changed last year and was purchased by Hawthorn. Since then everything has gone downhill quickly and dramatically. I have sent dozens of emails over the course of the last nine months due to concerns, with zero response from management. My parents have experienced black mold, mice, ants and no housekeeping service for over three months (they are supposed to receive weekly cleaning services that is included in the rent). The food is very spotty because the facility is unable to retain employees for any length of time, including the chefs, maintenance, dining hall servers and housekeeping. My parents were displaced for over nine months due to a black mold issue in their cottage. A high level manager had the nerve to suggest that my parents were at fault, which is disgraceful. We were told directly by the mold experts that it was caused by a slow leak below the flooring. So much more to write, but character limit here! AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!

My grandmother has lived here for a while now maybe 5 or 6 years. But the people managing it now are by far the worst people she has ever encountered. They are rude to the people who live here and honestly don’t care about their well being at all. They have done nothing about the un drinkable water which by the way has had mold and countless other problems which have not been solved. But not only is there mold in the water but also in the walls. Also not to mention the outside hasn’t been taken care in years and at this point looks deserted. I would not recommend this place to anyone it is horrible.

My father is there. His A/C unit hasn't worked correctly for three years. The maintenance person stopped by several months ago on a nice day. The man said "Feels pretty good in here" and walked out. The name plate on the door has had his name misspelled for three years. They refuse to fix it. His refrigerator door opens the wrong way. He has asked to have the door reversed. It is a ten minute fix. They won't do it.

My Mother lives here and they are infested with German Cockroaches! They do nothing at all to help these elderly residents!

If you like roaches, this is the place for you. I visited my sister there on Sunday, [date removed]. I killed one roach that ventured out onto the wall. Then another, then another. I looked up under a small photo on the wall and discovered an army of roaches. She had 3 small photos of her children as young tots. Each picture had an army of roaches living there. I then called my nephew and niece who advised that they had been complaining for months. The "management" ([name removed]) is simply not equipped to deal with it and he has not dealt with it. when he returned my call he was very rude but offered no solutions to the roach problem. I suggested that my sister just name them and keep them as pets but there are too many of them.

My father has lived there about 6 months. Was ok at first but since have seen a lot of staff turnover and shortages. The meals have declined in quality and service. Stone Ridge is also not willing to let families know when loved ones are quarantined to their rooms or in need of medical treatment. They will only drop off food 3 times a day and not check on the wellbeing of covid positive residents. I was told it is not their job to inform families and that my father can let us know on his own even though hes been to sick to use his phone. Andrew the supervisor was very unprofessional when I called to express my concern. He was sarcastic and I would not recommend this place to anyone if you care about the wellbeing of your loved one.

I think that they are very pushy to get people in the door to get them moved in. It seemed to be more about the money with my loved one and less about the person. There was supposed to be transportation and there wasn't. This was very much more independent living than assisted living and we were not told that up front, we were actually told the opposite of that.

We toured Carolina Estates and I would not recommend them to others. This was the first place we saw and we almost pulled the plug on the whole thing. They were not professional and the facility was not clean. I would tell others to definitely tour the facility before choosing it.

My sisters-in-laws mother lives here. I find the food to be uneatable and risk to the health of the people living here. It is not acceptable to serve raw meat or over cooked meat. Why hasn’t the state or the county intervened to make sure that the residents are being feed a “healthy” diet? As people age their healthy and nutrition are of high importance and can have an effect on their quality of life. They have been told their “work on it”. What steps have they taken to make sure that no one gets sick from food that has not been prepared correctly? To me, it is much cheaper and should be a high priority to the staff to make sure the food is served above and beyond the requirements that are required by state and county. I surely wouldn’t want anyone else that I love to be hungry or malnutrited because of the serves provide at this facility.

I have a family member at this location. Lots of promises in the beginning, then it all went downhill. Biggest problem is the meals. You would expect quality meals considering it's part of the package and a selling point they really push. Not the case. Undercooked or overcooked meals are the norm. Most meals are sent back. This has been going on for many, many months. It's not a fluke or a bad food order. DON'T CHOOSE COLONIAL HARBOR. The complaints from residents are falling on deaf ears. Management needs to bite the bullet and pay for improvements. You are taking money for a service you are NOT providing. Make it better.

Look some other place --- only care @ the $ ---care comes as hardly needed. Management could be improved!!!

This place has been without water for 6 days and they have done nothing for the residents. They couldn't flush the toilets. The senior managers left the location and left the fix to the assistant managers. I contacted the board of health and finally some action was being taken. This place is a dump

horrible experience- If I could give a 0/5, I would, but unfortunately technological restraints don't allow me to do so. I came for a walk-in tour and waited over 20 minutes without anyone coming to greet me or assist me. truly abhorrent service.
