My grandmother lived here until her recent death. Now my grandmother didn't like nor dislike living here but I'm giving it a half a star. Why? Because someone stole her ring she never takes off after she passed. I dont know who took it but she died in her room leading my family to believe it was eaither management or an employee. My family is very mad that someone there disrespected my grandmothers dead body! So I can't in my right mind recommend this place for anyone's loved one.

Worst place ever! My dad is currently a resident here. We loved it until he stopped receiving care. The residents are caring for each other, the whole staff walked out, and the food is awful. It's definitely over priced for the lack of care that he is receiving. This place needs to be shut down immediately. I'm surprised the state of California hasn't yet. I will be taking my dad home until I can find a better fit. 0 stars.

My Mother In Law was here for over 4 years . Recently , the general Manager contact social services, she wanted my mother in law to get more care and go to a nursing home . OK , I understand that . what I don't like is the manager told me that my mother in law can't make decisions and isn't responsible enough to care for her self . Her exact words were " she got the ball rolling to start the process for her to go to a nursing home . shortly after that my MIL goes to hospital and than straight to a nursing home . this is where we get mad , Manager , doesn't want us to remove her items from her room . manager wants to make sure my MIL pays for future payments . what burns me up the most is , they told me she wasn't responsible enough to live there , but they knew she was going to nursing home and still cornered us made her pay for 3 months rent , cause my MIL didn't get her notice in fast enough . My Mother did pay for those three months , and she had paid all her rent. two managers were very rude , one didn't want us to remove my MIL property , cause she wanted to collect rent that wasn't even due at that point , that manager was telling me that she didn't want us to get everything and not pay for the future rent due , and said comments like MIL is been irresponsible paying and that she didn't spend her money wisely ( none of her business , and MIL paid her rent ) actually rent was auto drafted! lesson learned we should have done power of attorney sooner , so we could got the notice is fast , but its just ridiculous that the manager didn't get her own ball rolling with telling me sooner to get the vacate notice in , the first time she spoke to me about calling social services . yep she told me after the fact. she didn't care about my MIL , if she did , she would have spoken to us sooner , now my MIL is in a horrible nursing home and has had her bank card stolen . and im jumping threw hoops to move her . if this was planned better I could have picked a better nursing to protect her. They "offer" two entre choices for lunch (the main meal) and dinner but FREQUENTLY run out of the alternate choice. Too bad... you sat on the wrong end of the dining room. And management has no/zero interest in customer or resident comments ... their attitude: don't interrupt their lives with any input.

I have to agree with the review of the managers at Colonial Gardens in Beverly, MA -they have no business being the managers of a “retirement” community - this is a facility that the residents are paying for and they are treated with disdain as the prior review stated. [Removed] feel it is a burden listening to the complaints of the residents. I don’t think they understand that these residents are paying their salaries and they should have a better understanding of their issues. This is the last chapter of their lives and they should be treated with dignity and not made to feel that their complaints go unheard. It is time for new managers who are caring, compassionate people and know how to listen and respect others! The food is also terrible and served like an institution and not a "retirement" community!

Not a good place...the food is nasty and the lead management husband/wife couple are fake, words out in the community that they got fired from their last job for doing some pretty bad things. I would never ever leave my parent in their care. Like high school, they pick on the weak

THIS COMPANY [Removed] AND DOES NOT STAND BY WHAT THEY SAY. My mother was promised a guarantee of a "price lock" for life as an enticement to sign a rental contract at Pioneer Valley Lodge. Based on the rate lock promise, she signed the rental contract and was told that the "rate lock" would be handled later. She asked repeatedly to get the rate lock secured (it is a separate contract from a rental contract), but the company put her off, saying they would do it soon. In good faith, she gave up her condo and sold and gave away most of her furniture and household items to downsize for the move. After she had moved her things in, the company THEN gave her the rate lock contract--but the price was SUBSTANTIALLY more than what they had promised (by enough that her rent cap would far exceed her fixed income). The sales rep used high pressure and guilt tactics to get her to sign. Thankfully, my Mom refused to sign the higher-than-promised price and said she could not move in. But management refused to let her out of the rent/lease she had signed, EVEN THOUGH THEY FULLY KNEW THAT THE ONLY REASON SHE SIGNED IT WAS BECAUSE OF THEIR PROMISED RATE LOCK. These people have ZERO integrity and prey on the elderly. DO NOT TRUST A WORD THEY SAY, and DO NOT LET YOUR PARENTS DO ANYTHING THERE WITHOUT YOU AND A LAWYER PRESENT. [Removed], Pocatello ID .

This buisness gets negative stars. If you care about your loved ones, please don't consider here. They are not good people. So many better places. Don't let them fake their niceness and try to persuade you what a wonderful place it is. I could say so much. I just hope this helps someone who's considering before it's too late. They deserve no stars ... but had to but at least something to post

New Management is amongst some of the rudest and most unprofessional I have ever come across. I feel the place is nice but with the crew running I would go somewhere else.

Get ready for Anita. .. If your parent/grandparent gets sick -- they're done for. If you have to request meals to the room, Anita will throw a fit and remind you that it's not their problem. It's "independent living", so it's basically an extremely overpriced apartment. The reviews here also seem to be from the employees themselves because a lot of the stuff posted either doesn't make sense, or is a bunch of flat out lies. If your parent/grandparent has arthritis or neuropathy, get ready for another surprise. The shower head is attached to a hose which can't be fixed in a straight position. So if they have a hard time gripping on to something for an extended period of time -- tough luck. Please take your time and research other places before dumping any senior in this place.

The value was good when first opened 3 years ago , now on par with other facilities. Where this property fails miserably is in the meals , over 100 people served at the same time institutional quality food , cold and often run out . This property modeled after other by Hawthorn group , but much larger without proper planing. Two small elevators for four floors and everyone moving at the same time to get to giant dinning area. Also the activities very poor , daily bingo and old movies. It's a shame such a beautiful property can't seem to get it together . We are in the process of moving out.
