This is the ideal place but the most expensive for my Mom. Wish I could place her here but too costly. Wonderful staff and amenities that she would love. Only issue is the apartments do not come with a full kitchen, however there is a kitchen for everyone to use in the common area which makes for a great gathering place when you want to cook.

Unless you live here or have a relative living on site, your completely in a fantasy dream. The rent is outrageous, the food is fair at best, if your a big eater (no seconds), food is usually Luke warm to cold. If you don't like the what's being served you might get a peanut butter & jelly sandwich. How's that for $3000+ for a one bedroom! The residents couldn't be nicer, the staff depends on who they throw in, turnover is high and some managers are useless. My mother has been here almost 2 years and it's not getting better. They have special dinners free to the public for a tour of the facilities. Well today they had the free meals for guests, and before they got to some residents they ran out of food! I spoke to the manager and his reply was,"what would you like me to do?" Really, he ate!!! I had to go get my Mom and take her out for food, again is this worth $3000+ a month plus the aggravation???Not in my book.

We toured this community. We were not happy with the set time of the meals that are served. It did not have the feeling that we were looking for. We did not like the rooms and they need major improvemnts. The restrooms were very small. We would not recommend this community and they need alot of improvemtns. The meals also need alot of improvments. We would recommend that families tour this community for thecare of a loved one.

When I arrived for my tour, I was early. The representative quizzed me regarding my financial situation and then gave me a folder, told me I'd be better off at Lake Shore Commons and showed me the door. No tour. No lunch, as initially promised. I was not impressed.

First the food and then, the bigger issue, security. Food is a major problem at Stone Lodge. Meals take forever to be served (a simple lunch can easily take 90 minutes or longer). Often the food is inedible -- pork chops that are so hard you cannot cut them with a knife). Edible food often arrives barely warm. Even hard boiled eggs are often overboiled with green yolks. There has been a succession of cooks -- I think the place just doesn't want to pay enough for good help. Now to security. In a new reckless, cost-cutting policiy, Stone Lodge will soon have NO ONE on premises supervising from 7PM to 7AM. A year ago Stone Lodge had TWO married couples living at the facility. About six months ago only one married couple. Now the owners of Stone Lodge have decided, in a heartless and callus move, to have NO ONE in charge living at the facility. Instead, Stone Lodge has given its residents pendants to wear -- if they fall or have a problem they are to press the button on the pendant. Stone Lodge thinks so much of this system they are in the process of REMOVING their emergency pull cords in all the rooms. Stone Lodge thinks so much of their new pendant system that they will leave the facility with no supervision for 12 out of every 24 hours. Please, vote with your wallet and DO NOT have your loved one stay at this facility. We will be moving our mother out of here soon. Stone Lodge cannot be trusted to safeguard its residents.

I will say up front this is a rating just aimed at the managers. They are condescending, unprofessional, and very inattentive toward the residents. There has been multiple turnovers in the 18 mos. my parents have been there. When they moved in, the managers were loved by all. They had been there two years (ever since Liberty Heights opened). But they left for personal reasons and now it has been a revolving door of managers. The assistant managers have been very good though and if they could or wanted to be managers the residents would be much happier. Again, this rating is just in regard to the managers, especially the ones that are there at the present (November 2016). The rest of the staff is great as well as the facility.

I just want to inform others that the Heatherwood in Tewksbury Ma is a terrible place to have your family stay. The managers are not nice to the residents and family members. I will share my experience with you, my mother stayed at the Heatherwood for two months and it was the worst experience ever. [Removed] and [Removed] the managers were very unpleasant to deal with they were very rude to my mother and family members. They both don't enjoy what they are doing and take it out on the residents and family members. I personally had several incidents with [Removed] and [Removed] that were very horrible. The last incident required me to contact the Tewksbury Police Department. PLEASE DO NOT send your loving family members to this facility. Thank you very much [Removed]

Don’t be fooled by the nice facilities. The managers here, Al and Cheryl [Removed], show nothing but disdain for the residents, and though it’s meant to be ‘independent living’ the place is filled with residents who need a greater level of care. Not to mention the fact that they can’t keep staff. Since my parents moved here, I couldn’t count the number of people they plough through in housekeeping, activities, and in the kitchen. Run!!!!

I have lived here since they opened there doors and personally have not liked since the day we moved. Family circumstances keeps me here. We have had many pairs of managers along with a 1/2 dozen assistant managers. Something is happening with upper mangerment as we have lost 3 or 4 chefs and many of the everyday workers have left as there duties keep getting added onto without question. Food is just so, so and service is ok. This places promises a lot but does not deliver on 3/4 of the promises. They do try and help you settle in a little but stop quickly when new come in and then they start all over again. When one walks down the hallways it sounds as if you are in a dog kennel with all the barking coming from the rooms. If a new person comes and drives, you had better hire a car and driver as the parking is very poor especially when all the physical therapist come a take all the spots. God help ya if just run to the drug store and come back to no parking places. Look wisely before signing anything

We had breakfast with my mom really bad they have a menu for the week but didn't have the items listed for breakfast. Eggs were powder eggs asked for some kind of breakfast meat bacon, ham, sausage. Server said nope we were very disappointed. Should have taken her out I hope she didn't have to pay for our breakfast.

I'm hesitant to give them even one star. We scheduled a tour and couldn't find any staff when we got there. Office was empty. There was a meeting behind a closed door and nobody came out when they all saw us looking in. We waited 30 minutes and left.

Mass Exodus! A lot of the Residents who lived there have Left, and in a Hurry! I had my loved one in here for a year. Place is indeed beautiful, BUT you can't eat the Beautiful Furniture or the Wall Pictures and Knick Knacks!! And your loved one can't cook in their apartment, since they don't provide a stove. So either you go OUT to eat of Eat there and The FOOD is Terrible! And the tiny portion sizes they give are a joke! Also, they can't keep a Cook or other Staff like Housekeepers/Servers and Managers and Assistant Managers seem to come and go sometimes with no warning or reason why they left. Seems to be a problem with Corporate. Anytime I went into the office to complain I was told that the menus and rules were made up at Corporate and there was nothing they could do about it. Definitely NOT worth the money they are asking in my opinion.

I wrote a review back in February , and wanted to update , my mom has moved out since my last review for the reasons stated . I wanted any future residents to know it is a lovely property however where it fails is the food and activit ies. The quality of the food is horrendous and activities are really lacking.i feel these are really important to seniors. That being said it it a really good value if you don't have to depend on all your meals.

My mother was a resident at Shads Landing and during the Corona pandemic she suffered terribly primarily due to the complete lack of a plan on behalf of the administrators. All the residents were locked up in their rooms for months . This barbaric treatment of these elderly people caused enormous psycological as well as physical harm. MY MOTHER was even manhandeled at one point when she could not stand pacing her room any longer and wanted to walk the hallway. my mother is of course no longer a resident at Shads but she is currently unable to function at the same level as before her short stay . No testing of staff . No testing of any resident.Neglect beyond belief.

So my mother lives her and we have been happy there. But lately my mom tells me she has overheard the main manager telling family members that they can visit if they tell the office that they are caregivers. We had received a letter from [name removed]the other manager stating that the company said we are not allowed to have social visits. This concerns me not only for my mother, but for other residents. [Name removed] seems to care, but when it comes to this, she is not being careful and is putting my mother and all the lives of the residents that live there at risk of the virus. I believe there have been complaints to the company, but nothing is being done.

No efforts to resolve the issue were made, they just believed the new resident. She must be paying more money. How does a grumpy, nothing better to do person have that much power!

my sister stay a total of 8 days before having to go to the hospital and then required assisted living I understand she need to pay for a whole month because she tied up the room in Sept but she has been charged for Oct I feel she has not being treated fairly because of this and addition issues I would not recommend this facility

Residents constantly complain about how much they dislike this place. Laundry rooms are filled with trash for days. We did a walk through and things were out of shape and seemed a little standoffish.Price wise its expensive for the little space. One resident told us theres no steady management system and recently 2 sets of live in managers quit at the same time and Unprofessional environment with horrible food If you love your family memeber or friend dont place them here.

Colonial Harbor is not what it appears to be. It has gone steadily down hill in the last few years. From activities to maintenance to quality of food their first priority seems to be cutting costs.This is especially evident in the decline of the quality of food. Residents complain but promises of improvement are not kept. They only pretend to care. The 5 star review on Yelp is from the manager, which is supposedly against YELP rules. I see he and other staff members have posted 5 star reviews on other sites as well to boost their ratings. Very dishonest !!! Shame on you. For the amount residents pay to live here you would think they could at least get decent meals.
