I moved into a nice small apartment just before Christmas of 2019. Staff was nice. I met some great tesidents while there. This was not a good fit for me, as many residents were not Independent physically and some were in different stages of Dementia or Alzheimers. I love all people, but I was not equipped for the things they did. Hated my dog to the point if being aggressive toward her and me. Also, a resident forgot anout her popcorn and a fire started downstairs and smoke traveled quickly to the upper 2 floors. Fortunately the fire was extinguished early and no one had to evacuate. There are 200 people ther and one small elevator that you aren’t supposed to use during fires. Huge staircase, BUT so many could not use them due to physical limitations. By the end of February I found an apartment nearby and was able to move out before the COVID lockdown.

The community had misspelled my loved one's name and it is still wrong, even after speaking to the them a couple of times about the spelling. It has been a disappointment so far. The community hasn't cleaned the windows and the community didn't let us know this. We were expecting a patio as we were shown rooms with patios and my loved one didn't get one.

We did not have a good experience at The Lodge at Wake Forest. I felt that there were many safety hazards. They also went through several different general managers during our stay here and the food was not good.

it was assisted living. I wanted more independent living.I was given [name removed] to give me the tour and it was like a race to hury up and get through with us.

Initially at first it was not that bad, but once covid hit the food quality was terrible and it just got worse and worse.

We did not have a great experience with our tour. The manager seemed unprepared and did not respect our time. She was a bit terse with staff and residents. Questions were answered vaguely. Based on comparative experiences would not recommend.

This community is a nice place everything was ok until Covid then it went downhill. The food was ok before covid but after it was terrible. The room sizes were ok and the layout was good. I would recommend this community

I would want other families to know when looking into Colonial Harbor for their loved ones that they treated us different after we signed the bottom line. They were helpful until we signed, then we couldn't get an answer about anything from anybody. My dad has lost a lot of weight since he has been there and so have a lot of other residents. They have cut down on their food portions. I wrote to the corporate office and they did not respond. One of the advantages they had that helped us make the decision was that they had a bus service, many times the bus has not been up and running so I had to drive to get him and take him to and from his appointments. They use to offer cleanings once a week and now since COVID, they are cleaning every other week so we have had to hire someone to come in and clean. Overall, I would not recommend this facility.

The place was beautiful, [name removed] was great we were all ready to sign the paper work when all these hidden cost came up and another thing we made it clear that it was going to be short term situation. But because of this they The regional manager denied us one of the things they wanted to do was meet [name removed] to see if she was the fit which I had already told them she was in a place where she cannot come to visit and it was agreed at the beginning that she was a fit like I said I was there to pick up paperwork and get it signed when all this came down I’m very disappointed. She seem to be a fit until I pointed out again that it was short term I feel that they were misleading

My Mother has lived here for several years. Very much a 5 star rating for the first couple years. However there has been a dramatic downturn in amenities, food and now cleanliness. The current manager seems not to be concerned about the infestation of roaches hitting the Estates. Three apartments near my Mother have been complaining about roaches for over a month. Now I am told they are crawling on her walls as well. Time to search for a different facility. I advise you to as well.

Quality of food - Horrible! Bus/trans. availability - too limited. Managers - not the friendliest!Should help out more! Also a man fell while out walking around building - got hurt pretty bad. Managers did not help him, passed him on to another worker! Workers should also know CPR or at least the Heimlich maneuver. (Several people have gotten choked, they had no clue what to do!!!) New Rule - no bleach in washers! What? They are made for that. I could go on!

You might be served three meals but what are you eatting? Lots of fatty food, loads of processed food & unappetizing overcooked vegetables. Very high sodium content making it impossible to keep oneself medically fit. Deli sandwich 3-4 times weekly plus cream based fatty soups is not healthy eatting.

the facility on the outside has mold, it looks dirty, and there were people right out front smoking. they were "10 feet" from the front door - which is not even the state law. to have to walk through smoke to enter the main building is not acceptable. the young woman running the front desk was nice and friendly - but that was really the only positive part of the first impression.

Look around -- better places exist for sure. Management is greedy!!!

Lovely facility but Independent living only. Long hall ways and elevators for 116 residents, so a big place doesn't feel like Dad. One big open dining room seemed loud.

My family member has lived here for about five years and I've noticed a steady decline in all aspects of the facility. The main point has to do with the current management team; many of them seem to have an 'attitude' - dismissive, condescending, almost unfriendly. Have heard some of the residents express very similar interactions, support staff usually get higher marks for willingness to please and be of service.

First one we toured. Played Bingo (won a prize) and toured. Neat, clean, many amenities. After seeing all the others, we may want to go back to see it again. A little higher priced than some others. Sits on a super busy highway!

Management can be nice but can also be rude.

I am a younger person than the general 80-95 year old population here. I was given a sales pitch while very ill and alone that I would be in a supportive, caring environment. Anything but! I am a young retired professional. I have heard complaints from the older educated adults about being given a pn over zealous, false salesputch by Marketing Dirctors. Once here, there is no food or activities one couldnt get at any community senior center free. Drivers are unreliable. The rich elderly with the largest units get priority in drivers. The marketing dirctor has lost his temper with me and another woman my age with fragile health; like a schoolyard bulky. Most people other than a few coupkes, are here because their children were given the same salespitch I was. They were MUCH happier in the facilities they came from. This place is cheaper than most for a reason. It is basicalky like a community senior center with bedrooms, no social or logistical support as in most places, With cheap fancy loking furniture to make a first impression. My Mother in law was happy in three facilities. I know goid ones from poir ones. This is not a " good value" nor does it relieve the stresses of being older with health chalkenges. I would never send a relative here. Fancy furniture and model apts do NOT a quality life make!

Definitely issues with staffing. There is a constant turn over of staff and The Oaks is overall understaffed. Food service is quite a process taking up to and at times more than 1 1/2 hours for each meal, and they are unwilling to genuinely explore options such as an eating window instead of a set time, or a buffet line for those who would like to eat and be on their way. The cleaning and maintenance staff are also enlisted as food servers. The resident laundry rooms are mostly occupied by the cleaning staff washing bedding during the day. Seems like they need a utility laundry room for the staff separate from the resident laundry. Parking is also an issue. More spaces are needed for residents, staff, visitors, as well as home health care workers. I'm very disappointed and not surprised my father is ready to purchase another home and move out.
