I had a terrible neighbor, which wasn't liked by many. The laundry rooms weren't kept clean unless residents cleaned them & our washers & dryers didn't operate properly. The physical therapy there was wonderful! I had balance issues while there & 4 major falls, sent to hospital to be checked out twice. Legacy PT worked with our schedules and got me from a wheelchair to start & I left walking with a cane. I have an emergency pendant & learned to walk & turn much slower. The food was also great. Lots of variety & chef, cooks @ wait staff were very professional. Activities improved after the current director was hired. He's wonderful. I just hope he's not overworked & taken advantage of. All in all it's a nice place.

The roof leaks and is overdue for replacement. The one elevator frequently breaks so 2nd and 3rd floor residents are stuck in apartments or risk falling trying to navigate stairs. Elevator broke today with a hurricane coming tomorrow. Not good! My mother has lived there 3 Years and it seems the elevator is broken at least once a month. Food has gone dowhill and now my mother buys and cooks her own meals. Trannsportation is sporadic due to vehicle breakdown or lack of drivers. Rent increased higher than expected w lack of return on investment. Hawthorne needs to invest in this building! Residents are moving out by the dozen. Mom is currently looking for a better place.

I'm no longer at the Oaks. I have moved. The managers treatment of people, the smoking throughout the building and rigid cafeteria hours with poor quality food made my decision to relocate. The assistance Mgr was great, but the head guy was rude, unresponsive and completely ignored concerns. Since leaving along with 5 others I heard he had improved.

My loved one hasn't been there in at least 6 months. He didn't get along with the front office husband and wife team. They wanted to leave anyway so they might not even be there anymore. They put a horrific aura on the facility. Otherwise he loved it there so it's a shame. We'd love to get him back there! The food was excellent and he has very good taste! The waitstaff and cooks were wonderful. Facility was clean and inviting! Very beautiful! But you could feel the tension amongst the residents and the administration. Residents were wonderful too!

There have been a few select staff who are wonderful but the management turnover has really affected the quality of the experience. They need to ensure residents' safety -- either a formal check in system or install cameras or both. The high speed internet doesn't work so you have to purchase your own, separately. Beware of the "chandelier effect" -- at Colonial Gardens and elsewhere. Most facilities have a grand dining room and well-manicured grounds, but you really have to ask pointed questions about staff turnover to understand the experience your loved one will have. How long have the managers been there? The cook? The activity director? Are the employees happy?

Quality of care -being the it is independent living there is no care or communication with the families. Capitol Ridge was just hard on my loved one. I had asked them several times if they could introduce him to another guy with a bird watching fascination and it just never happened. They were not as friendly once he moved in.

I would say be very careful...the managers are not who they portray themselves. They never provided promised services. Northridge is not what they proclaim.

The facility needs a lot of upgrades. Roaches and ants need to be taken care of. The kitchen staff is great but management not so friendly. Based off of my loved ones experience, we would not recommend this facility to others looking.

The first review I did after my first time at ivy creek. The last managers were awful. I got a phone call that my dad passed during the night bc the manager said he seen him the day prior. In fact he hadn’t seen my dad for days bc he was already dead. They were no help as far as where the carts were so I could lose my dads belongings. He told me my dad would owe November rent bc they weren’t given 30 day notice that he was leaving (dying). He died around [date removed] They told me I could only put one bag of trash in their dumpster. I live 2.5 hours away. I asked for my dad’s military pic that was on the wall. O never received it or. My dad didn’t care for the last mngr Hopefully they find a full time permanent couple to run ivy creek. My dad said that he knew 3-4 different managers in a year. I spoke to [name removed] who was very kind and caring today. I’m not sure why nobody stays as permanent managers They left bloody sheets on the bed where my dad spit up whatever knowing I was omw

I have a parent living there and the quality of life and food and management has gone downhill from when they opened. They will not pay to keep good people, there has been a lot of turnover of management and kitchen help and the food has suffered. Much of the reason to move here is so you do not have to cook for yourself. They remind you you do have to because the quality of food has so fallen to such a pathetic level. Ask a lot of questions as the fees go up every year.

Salesperson lies to trick you into moving in then management won’t honor promises. Food is terrible so be prepared to add food cost to your monthly budget. I have pictures of the daily meals.. Breakfast is grainy grits and cheese everyday. You get meat only maybe twice a week. Their website advertise a chef but you get a uncertified cook or staff member.

The problem seems to be centered at the top management. It filters down to the facility managers. We only have direct experience with the Estrella Estates managers and they have been very poor in the time that we have been here. There is a mid level manager above them that we rarely see that is extremely inexperienced and unresponsive to residents' needs. The co-managers have been constant turnover and extremely poorly chosen and managed. We have mostly had fill in co-managers who have been more friendly and competent than the managers.

I toured this community and it wasn't the best fit for me. They only offer 2 meal choices for each meal and meal times are shorter.

My mom did not think that she would fit in here. It was not very friendly there and had a cold feeling. My mother was leaving and there was a resident outside that told her how bad it was there so it jaded my mother's thinking.

I had a bad experience with a staff member at Desert Springs. The director is trying to work on this with me to resolve. The apartment is nice and I have nice views out my window. There is a kitchenette in the apartment. There is housekeeping once a week provided. They will wash linens as well, and take the trash out for the residents.

The assistant managers need to pay better attention to the needs of the residents. Sometimes they are not flexible or personable. They need to show more appreciation for the employees who care very much for the residents. These young employees work very hard for the little money they make. They laugh with the residents and bring joy to the community.

Southern Pines is not strict on their covid protocols and limitations, there are people here who have tested positive. People are walking around with no masks on. The management team is extremely disorganized, as well as the maintenance team. Another concerning thing is that they only have one small elevator, and those on the 2nd and 3rd floors would not be able to get out of the building if there was a fire. There is no evacuation plan for those residents.

They were less in price than others that I looked at, but I didn’t care for the fact that there wasn’t as much included in the rooms. For instance, you had to bring your own microwave and everything, whereas the place I ended up choosing has a full kitchen.
