I have a parent at Olympus Ranch. The good comments from several reviewers are mostly true: the people are nice, and there is a lot to do. However, the corporate people are extremely greedy: over the last few years, they have asked for more than 5%/year increases. Even this year, when inflation has actually been NEGATIVE, they want 6%! Also, there is just one tiny, painfully slow elevator to handle four floors of people with walkers and electric wheelchairs - in an emergency, it would be useless. Also, each meal takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours because everyone is served (really not served) at once. Would I put my parent there if we had to do it again? Maybe - but I certainly look closely at other places before making that decision.

The food is terrible and they constantly run out of what is on the menu. The times I have eaten there the food has been overcooked or cooked 2 weeks ago and heated up but not served for the past 14 days, the oatmeal is paste, besides running out of food they frequently do not have what is on the menu. The food was fair before but now they have a different cook "Mark" and the food is absolutely awful. Every day my mother and her friends complain to me about the food and I am spending time and money to bring the food and meals that I hoped not to spend due to the hefty rent Colonial Harbor charge for food and lodging. Do not subject your family to the food. The events are not really inclusive to all or mindless.

Residents seem very sad, and although the building is clean, and looks nice. It's cold and empty. My Great Aunt said that she fell, and asked for help and they told her if she needed help to call 911. Recently they found a resident dead outside. Makes me sad :(

The food there has been quite problematic lately especialy for the cost the seniors pay. Not too sure what is going on there but seniors do are not happy! They could be more creative on activities - same thing all the time. boring

My mom and dad were staying there but they're not staying there anymore. They thought they would like it but they decided that they didn't. The main thing was the food. They felt like it was not at all fresh like none of the vegetables were fresh. It was just low quality. The staff was pretty friendly. The manager that's there now, they didn't really care for. There was a manager there before that they liked but he ended up leaving and the didn't like the new manager.

We moved my grandmother here in 2023 and the management was amazing. It was a family environment and she felt extremely comfortable with how nice they were with the residents and this stuff. Unfortunately there's always turnover but she remained patient. After the entire family ended up leaving she insisted on moving out but we asked her to remain patient. It's just not a friendly vibe and I do hope residents in the future can experience what she did in the beginning. Keep trying it's a hard economy and hard to keep employees I'm sure..

It is a bright cheerful feeling. The place is understaffed right now and the food has been mediocre. Hopefully that will be corrected soon. I am moving soon because I need assisted living due to the passing of my husband. Short of housekeepers and mediocre food main reason

Not stable. Too much firing of staff by [name removed]. Unstable environment.

Our sales guide failed on multiple fronts - selling the food, clearly explaining the relationship between the lodge and the HOA for the community surrounding it (Both labeled Stoneybrook), and provided incomplete data on the resident composition as well as minimal sharing of the activities, the engagement of the residents and more. It was a lackluster visit. In addition, it was not at the level of care that we would want.

Management has a revolving door (assistant managers) and there are constant excuses why maintenance is not done. We pay[removed price] a month for the hassle of begging for a repair. Been waiting 8 months for our exterior light to be restored that was damaged when the sidewalk was replaced. The excuse is “ we get a lot of rain in New England!” The food is very borderline and there is no nutritional information for anything. If you have diabetes or any other dietary restriction, this is not the place for you. Activity director is awesome and does a great job for what she has to work with. If you’re expecting white tablecloth food and service, you will be disappointed. Also no pub, drug store, pool or proper convenience store. Rents were promised never more than 3% increase every other year. We are now experiencing 7% each year. The parent company Hawthorn is unavailable for concerns. I initially came here because of “A Place for Mom” but [removed name] would be disappointed.

I would not recommend Salmon Creek. They are turning the facility into a "nursing home". There are too many dependent people here. There is only 1 elevator for 3 floors.

I lived here for nine months. I went in expecting a independent living situation and it wasn't so. Over half shouldn't have been there. The staff promised to be helpful in most problems and they eventually the just said there's nothing we can do. Public bathroom were soiled as was the sofas and chairs. The food was horrible. I moved out after ten months to a much nicer place that also has units for assisted living and memory units.

Food service is very slow. Managers rotate and no consistency. Managers are temporary couples who stay 2-3 weeks.

I don't feel the corporate office is listening to the residents . The rents are very high The apartments have do not have kitchens not even a microwave Street meals a day are served, but we are expected to eat in the dining room, not in our apartments which I didn't like There is no lift on the bus. Since transportation is included, it would be nice if everyone could get on the bus and use it for that purpose but those who couldn't climb the stairs were excluded. This is not right. My Approximately 500 ft.² or under. The price was I felt way out of line with the actual apartment - $[removed]. It might retro agreement. It indicated the transportation was included to doctors shopping and excursions. Their bus has no lift, and those of us who could not get up to two stairs under the bus will find as far as transportation goes, no reimbursement no alternative method of transportation, we were just out of luck if we are to continue to be independent and know what's going on in the community and taking part in life outside of the walls of Springwood, if we don't have our own transportation, we have no other way to do it except through the community and their transportation. Also, it's a chance to get to know your fellow residents better this is an activity that we were excluded from

Food was horrible very slow to serve. The food took an hour and a half almost every meal. Cleaning the room was minimal, did not do well. Size of the facility the room was small for the price paid . Staff was excellent very kind and helped anyway they could, but we're understaffed and unable to do all needed . A place she is now located is more than $[removed] cheaper and much more room and, entire kitchen, bedroom, as opposed to a studio!

My comments are representative of a healthy active 82yr old - definitely Not the norm in this facility where 70% of residents are visibly impaired, physically, mentally or both and are incapable of leaving the building on their own. Management here means well but simply do not have enough employees to adequately provide the amenities they SAY they offer - (reflected in the scores above)

I have been a resident for almost 3 years, and this pace has its ups and downs with management. Previous to the current managers I would have rated it 4 starts, with current managers it’s at best 1 star. The current managers have completely destroyed the landscaping, as well as turned over the staff. They’re here only for a pay check and not for the residents. They make up the rules as they go along only when we complain to the regional manager do the begrudgingly comply. There is a great turnover of residents while most places like it are full in the Rio Rancho/Albuquerque area this place is about 80% of capacity. The only reasons why I stay are it’s close to my sister and clos to the bike paths.

I love our cottage with a yard and garden. The landscaping is very pretty The turnover of employees is constant so everything is changing all the time. Food service is sometimes so slow we just leave and eat in our house

The staff here tries very hard. Hats off to [name removed] and [name removed]who seem to be gifted at working with the elderly. It is impossible not to love them! The big Texan and his wife? Another story. Resident [name removed]is warm and kind but if you sit at her table well…she has her friends and it won’t be appreciated. Very cliquish in places. But the food is good people are nice for the most part. My biggest issue is that most of the residents need mobility devices such as walkers and rolling walkers. Most are borderline assisted living and nursing home cases. Families - anxious to keep costs down put family members here because it is so much cheaper. But where it got scary is that when people came in walking without assistance they would within a few weeks need the devices themselves. It seemed to accelerate the aging process for some. Love to return when I really need it but not looking forward to it. It’s depressing

The management was extremely disappointing and the reason we left. We moved from there to [name removed] and it is much better even though it has been going through a major remodel for about a year.
