Didn't like the access to laundry facilities. kitchen area to small.

This was a little bit different, they had kitchenettes, they had washer and dryers on the landing and they charged for linen service. They were a little more rigid, they charged for more things. I think medical transportation was jsut two days and if you had to go to one a different day they would charge you some amount total or per mile. They had a lot of incidental charges and people who come out of the Great Depression, those things make them crazy. The meal plans were things like breakfast and lunch or breakfast and dinner and any other meal would cost extra. With something like that people wouldn't eat because the whole structure was too confusing.

They were very disorganized, they didn't even have my mother down for her appointment and they greeted her as somebody else whose appointment they did have down. The atmosphere was not good either. I understand the resident managers have to take vacations too, but the lady who came in was dressed in a t-shirt and cpris, like beach capris, and this was an older lady; so my mother, being confrtoned with a person like that was disconcerting especially because people of her generation are well put together. The first thing I had asked the lady was the price of a one bedroom and she said she would have to go and look because it changes everyday and I didn't understand why she would even say that to someone. My mother, who is a genuinly caring person asked if she could go to the bathroom and when I went with her she asked me if we could leave.

I don't like the location. and the view from the rooms is very boring. Just a parking lot or 7/11. the dining area is large and attractive but there are limited other areas for interaction. this would be my second choice if I had to make one. I didn't care for the business of the road trying to get in and out of the area.

Overall the staff seemed nice. Glenn did a nice job taking Mom and I on the tour and allowed us to have lunch with a recent resident. She was nice and seemed happy about being there. The residents didn't say hello or acknowledge us as much as other locations that we visited. Also since they are near capacity, we had to see an unfinished model and the actual apartment of a resident. Just seemed a little odd. Since all three meals are included in the price, it may be slightly out of Mom's budget.

SOMETIMES DON'T GET A GOOD FEEL ABOUT IT CAN'T PUT MY FINGER ON IT. THE LADY THAT GAVE ME A TOUR WAS VERY NICE AND I DID LIKE HER VERY MUCH.

The facility was clean and open. The rooms we saw were centrally located though many rooms were further away from the dining room. Dad could spend a weekend there to "try it out" - I need to ask the cost of such a stay. I didn't ask about the personal care aspect concerning medications. We did talk about the monitoring of the residents. All meals are included. Need to ask about the cost. Although I think that that was covered on the webpage. They bus the residents around frequently and organize outings to the malls, theatre, Southport. There are substantially more women then men. The retired military are showcased in the dining hall. One bedroom apartments can have a tub. The rooms seem bigger than Pomparaug Woods. Railings are in the hallways. Nice grounds.I need to follow up and start the paperwork on the VA benefit.

This was good, but not our 1st choice.

Shocked by all the 'old people'. If all the centers are this way, it will take some serious 'getting used to'. Staff, amenities, incentives and pricing were all superb. Really good food.
