They are very nice and my mother feels well cared for. Meals are a frequent complaint. I think if management would routinely ask the residents for input on what they would like served. She says they eat a LOT of chicken. I see how that gets old quickly. I'm also unclear on how much effort they put into meeting the residents dietary needs. I do feel that overall Harbor Chase is not as impressive as it was when she moved in back in April. In my opinion the significant cost increases that went into effect last month are excessive and have not increased the quality and value of the services provided

We have had mixed experiences while my parents have been at HarborChase in Naperville. I really appreciate getting to know the front office staff as they have helped with giving my parents guidance and support. The nurses that we have on the second floor have been consistent, thorough, proactive, responsive, given guidance, and communicated with me in a timely fashion. In the beginning we were under the care of Dr. [name removed] but that was not suffienct so we switched to Dr. [name removed] and his nurse that attends weekly. The food has been pretty good but my parents have mixed reviews. Activities have gotten better but I struggle to get my parents involved. There is a great concern with Staffing being qualified, following protocol, following through, under staffed, many staff changes, communication with residents and families, head nurse is not efficient enough, and I am concerned the way the building is being run on a daily basis to meet resident needs. There is work to be done.

Good size rooms, dining experience adequate for the residents. Quite a few long term caregivers work there. Its better than quite a few other memory care facilites in Broward County. Always have several different activities going on at once.

Facility great. Kind of short staffed. They need more staffing. Mom always complains about temperature in hallways too cold.

The website & Concierge Brochure are the exact opposite of the daily living at HarborChase Coral Springs. DINING: the meals are cafeteria grade and far from fine dining. Stroganoff is not made with tri-colored spirals! How many hot dogs should senior residences eat in a week?! More importantly, there are not 3 on site restaurants, but only one main dining room; limited standard menu items and a daily main dish served. A portion of residences prefer not to eat in the main dining area as it is uncomfortable hearing people yelling, having tantrums, coughing, and seeing people drool. Two other options are available: but only a handful of small tables are outside the dining hall and they are already spoken for, or folks eat in their apartments. ACTIVITIES: mixed bag of arts & crafts. Residences believe some crafts are a waste of money & too often activities do not happen. Management is merely filling the calendar. Employees hours have been cut back and some games have been reduced/eliminated. Residences family members pitch in to this shortfall. STAFF: very friendly and helpful.

Get a Ring camera; you can have a 2 way conversation & see the recorded history. Learn your contract & handbook & challenge in writing any issues with pictures, names & dates. Mom is a Level 4 care (most expensive) on a feeding tube. Seven nurses cared for her @ different times, fed 4x a day. No one looked @ her peg tube in the first 21 days; brown crust built up on her pink sensitive skin under the plastic cap; very painful. Had a meeting w/mgmt & resolved the issue for better care. Only one nurse realized mom’s pancreatic symptoms (jaundice, spiked gluclose & itching) & worked w/the doctor. The Dir of Nursing’s credentials are lower than her subordinate & did not recognize the symptoms only accusing mom of eating sugary foods. Activities need work as well as entertainment. ID name badges must be worn daily & need to be large to see the name, not the institutions name. Nearly all staff’s 1st language is not English; they should speak slowly & softly upon entering a residences room.

Improve security. Handy having 3 meals here if you want that. Great location

Mother's in memory care. Staffing is a challenge. Most are friendly enough. Overall clean community facility areas. No daily activities that I am aware of. Feeding is consistent although the level of care to ensure that residents actually eat isn't. I'm not happy with response time so overall it's a three.

The staff was friendly, they were in a state of literally changing the entire staff when dad arrived. The food was always good and plenty of it... The activities were lacking in the beginning but improved over time with the new staff. Cleanliness is always a challenge I think, but we felt as if there was never enough staff to adequately handle the needs. There was a true heartfelt care from most of the caregivers and staff, they were just overwhelmed by the amount of work and lack of enough help I think.

I was there before they changed owners. It was great as independent living, but the nursing staff was absolutely horrible. They needed to hire people who care. Nursing staff needed better training.

I am exceedingly disappointed with the MEDICAL quality of care which may be the most important item. The medical attention has been lacking and slow with terrible communications to family member. But also delayed medical treatment. And we are using the providers that Harbor Chase recommends and has on site. In summary, this is the wrong place for my Mom, and I regret placing her there. The transition from home to Harbor Chase was difficult, disappointing, and frustrating. Harbor Chase is probably a nice place for someone who needs an independent living place and then slowly progressing to assisted living. It is not a good place for someone who is well into the need for assisted living but has to get used to new and strange living conditions. I wish we could undo our decision.

Administration for caring (laundry, nurse), feedback. We would recommend this community to others.

Other than the food, it was not a good experience for many reasons. They didn't want to take care of my father and wanted to put him in the dementia section. His mind was 100% so it was very unsettling to the family.

They are very accommodating. Clean building but sometimes there is an odor. Food is good. Staff very friendly and available

I'll have to think about that. Initially, it was pretty good, but communication was typically an issue. In the last several months, the tech staff completely changed over and they were not kind, responsive or supportive.

For the most part the staff is friendly, and when it comes to the care services we are averaging the good with the bad. Some care takers are excellent and others are below average. Unfortunately we are paying for services, we are not getting. Some care takers are wonderful, but others are over worked due to lack of adequate staff and some are put on the job with little to no training. If my family members was in independent living, it would be a very good fit….lovely facility, activities, etc. but assisted living has been disappointing and concerning. There is an extra charge for medication management. Meds are administered by CNA’s and Med Techs (those do not have CNA certification). There Director of Nursing is preset at the facility 1 day per week, maybe 2 and there is 1 nurse present from 7am to 7pm. They could improve on having staff who safely and adequately care for the number of residents in assisted living and memory care.

Our experience, food and activities excellent. Communication with our family fair at best. When he needed an aide and rung his buzzer, it would take between 30- 45 min at least. High turn over rate with employees. Some aides are nice some are not. The higher ups were not always truthful with my family. Mediocre excellent overall.

It was much better when my mother started there. There is new management and it is just not as good as it once was. [name removed] and [name removed] left and they were keys to success there. Their replacements are simply not very friendly or caring. And the nursing at the facility is the worse one could imagine. They are not helpful, caring or friendly. We have had numerous issues with the nursing staff, especially the head nurse. We had to finally take the nursing aspect of it into our own hands because they could not be trusted.

Don't let the entry, dining area and rooms be the *only* selling point. While they are nice and comparably fairly priced, none of it does you any good when they are understaffed, the food is mediocre at best, and the rooms don't get cleaned properly. It has been a year, but in retrospect, it just felt like the right hand absolutely did not know what the left hand was doing. Hopefully, it has improved since then.
