They do a really nice job with what you get for what you pay. The staff is friendly, and certainly the administration is friendly and those I approach, but I don't think they approach me as much. I really like the activities director, she has a lot of music going on, they do have a lot of movies as well. I do have a concern about the food, it's fine for what it is, but I am concerned that when they feed people they don't have enough staff to feed them one on one, and one person will feed several people and so they are standing and not as engaged, though I realize that isn't an option for them. We chose this because it was better suited to our loved ones needs at this stage, it is also in a good location for us, and we are happy with her general care.

I toured this community when I was looking into care options for a loved one. I actually toured a few different Emeritus communities, and I was impressed by the overall quality of all of their facilities that I saw. This community was well maintained, and I liked their policy about upgrading and renovating the rooms that new residents move into. I didn't end up selecting this specific Emeritus community due to location and logistics, but it was definitely somewhere I'd recommend looking into for other families.

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. This was a nice enough looking community, it was very clean and well kept. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and caring, as well. The atmosphere just seemed a bit too clinical for our liking, and we didn't feel like our loved one would have been entirely comfortable here.

The food is very good. One suggestion is, I think it would be helpful to have a quarterly meeting with the families just to check in and get feedback. We looked at 3-4 places and the rooms are the most spacious of any we saw. They were able to accommodate two beds, where the others could not.

Sounds like a wonderful small facility. Two wings with 17 residents each. Staff does not wear scrubs. All doors, sinks, etc. color coded and set up like a dorm with rooms off of a hallway that leads to a living room and dining area. Shared room $5750; Private room $6750.

This had assisted living too and it would have been my second choice. It's very clean and if my mother could have been in assisted living versus memory care that would have been my first choice. They did have a floor for memory care but there were a very limited number of rooms.

I was pleased with the aides, but not with the facility's policy on medications and treatment. Windrose had my loved one medicated to the point of being lethargic and falling asleep when I would come to visit, and when I asked them about it, they said they don't monitor the condition of the patient before administering more medication. I think coordination between the prescribing doctors and the nurses who administer the medications and care is important, and I was not happy with that part of the care at Windrose. Even though I visited at all different times, I didn't' see activities going on. They would just set the residents in the TV room in front of an extremely loud TV, completely unengaged.

Over the past almost year, there have been some very friendly people. And there have been some people that, had they been my only impression of the facility, I wouldn't have put my loved one in it. It's like a box of chocolates, you never know which you're going to get. It could be a reflection that they're stressed out due to Covid. When we've gone in to visit, the person who's there to screen you doesn't always acknowledge you, or people have been standing there talking blocking the front desk, and the staff doesn't move those people to help you sign in. It's just frustrating when that's happening multiple times. The overall facility appears to be clean, but I haven't been able to go to the dining room or other public areas. They're cleaning the apartments, but my loved one's chair hasn't been dusted sometimes, and the bathroom wasn't always clean when I visited. There's nothing glaringly bad here, but there's also not been anything I've been able to say "Oh that's so wonderful" about. Sometimes there's a lag in communication. I'd like to see them have an out of office response on emails that directs you to call elsewhere if you need immediate assistance with an issue. It's been tough with a loved one who has some memory issues. We can't always rely on her comments 100% in determining if something did or didn't happen. And then there's a lag in the staff getting back to you when you try to clear things up. That's just frustrating. I know it's a tough situation for everyone to handle right now during Covid. . .

Very clean place - looks awesome... but very very short staffed on the regular and the advertised menu is never what they really get.. Checks every 2 hrs. at night were not being done. :( We pulled her from Maple Ridge due to the lack of proper care. The place is ok for folks that need just basic supervision... nothing really more than that.

There is a ridiculous administration fee of [removed] just to get in there. That was outrageous. He wasn't even there 2 months. And then I had to ask multiple times for the rebate he was due and they deducted an extra day. It took over a month to get check back. People should be told before sitting down to sign that there is a [removed] additional admin fee and not find out when signing you need that much more.

Windrose is a nice and small residence with caring people and for that I am thankful. As with any business I do think there is room for improvement. Activities: There are so many good activities for dementia/Alzheimer’s/elderly people these days but I have mostly seen puzzles and watching tv at Windrose. Exercise: My mom has lost 7 lbs since she’s been there and her Dr thinks it’s because she isn’t as active. While I understand the aging process and that seniors slow down, I do think moving more would be good. Food: I have eaten it and seen it and feel there’s definitely room for improvement. My mom is not on a restricted diet and I think the food is bland and overcooked - probably why she’s not the biggest fan. Example: ice cream was offered at the end of the meal and it was the lactaid version. She doesn’t have a milk allergy. Wellness Communication: It would be nice to receive at least a general monthly update on my mom via email. When I do inquire it takes a while and my ?s aren’

I would make sure that you look around at all communities and make sure this one is the right fit for your loved ones. The location and this is a new community all stand out to me. The staff are approachable, helpful, and friendly to work with. The activities are limited due to the pandemic. The food is wonderful.

This was the first community our loved one lived in. It was okay. The facility was nice enough and clean. I liked it alright, but when compared to where we ended up next, they didn’t give nearly the level of care. He wasn’t used to it at all and got extremely paranoid, started developing early dementia, and became extremely depressed. And it was clear that we needed to move him somewhere else.

A lot of the caregivers are young and inexperienced. The have some issues with communications we are not kept in the loop and it seems like the caregivers are not aware of changes. Based on my experience I would not recommend this community to others.

We chose River Mills because of their focus on memory care as well as the structure of the building, it is in the shape of a horseshoe. The room sizes at the facility have been adequate for what he needs. The facility is great and the things that they have in place seem to be great as well. I do think that they could use improvement on their communication and follow up to families. I would tell others to make sure to ask a lot of detailed questions before moving your loved one in here, especially about non-prescription medications as well as medications. We are still figuring things out as time goes on and it is a learning experience for everyone.
